You have that little Pen & Gear set up so cute! It’s hard isn’t, when we love all the options! I’m in a similar situation with my system, and always seem to come back to rings. I have been watching Planning with Kay, and all her A5 bullet journal setups, and I love the whole concept, but can’t ever seem to stick with a bound book. I’m not sure I could fit every section I like to have in a book, to make it make sense…..I would most likely do B6 or B6 slim, and put it in a TN. That way I could still keep a resource insert (so I’m not copying everything over and over), and 12 month insert. UGH, decisions! Loved the video, thanks for sharing! ❤

Yes to the resource insert! This is why I struggle with bound books because there are certain things I need year round and I don't want to copy the same info over and over again. But then, if I do two separate books, I might as well stay in rings. Blergh, lol.

Love your reading journal mixed into your planner. So fun. I need to go watch more of your videos to see if you have a walk through of how you use the reading tracker pages and lists and all those goodies. I think you should go for the Leuchtturm!

Spoiler - I did go with the Leuchtturm! Going to record a flip-through on Friday. :) Thanks for watching!

Have you considered printing inserts on precut/prepunched paper? It doesn't really save paper but it does cut out a ton of work of cutting and punching while still giving you the customization you want.

@mybookishagenda Месяц назад
This is a great idea. I've tried precut A5 inserts a few years back but they kept getting caught in my printer and it was maddening, lol. I've since changed printers so maybe I'll try precut paper again. Thank you! And thanks for watching! :)

If you do a setup in the A5 bujo, I’d love to see a PWM on that if it works out!

Spoiler, I completely setup the Leuchtturm and I think that's what I'm going to use. Planning to do a full flip-through on it. :)

It seems you began with one book. 🤷‍♀️ It does seem you are enjoying the thought of changing it up… Thanks for sharing the options! I’m going with the 4x6 dollar notebook. :-)

Oh, my personal rings is my EDC. I have several other planners not featured in this video. But you are right - I do love experimenting! Thanks for watching! :)

I used the cousin for a couple of years but I couldn’t truly get into. I rarely used the daily pages and the weekly was too small. I’m now comfortably in a passion planner medium weekly Monday start for my everyday carry. It works great for me. I have some other “planner type notebooks” too. I use a Moon Phase Studios journal for daily journaling. And I have a Clever Fox budget planner monthly for bills and budget. I have a Happy Planner big in dashboard layout for my volunteer work. It’s a lot but it keeps me organized and separated as needed.

I've had a pocket Clever Fox in my Amazon cart for ages! How do you like the paper? That's the one thing holding me back.
@Natalie.D
@Natalie.D Месяц назад
@@mybookishagenda good! I’ve used an ink joy 0.7 in it with no bleed through and very minimal ghosting. The paper is smooth. Not as smooth as plum paper, but a bit smoother than passion planner. Not sure of the paper weight.

Could you print weeklies and then just use lined or graph paper for dailies? Some of the paper Filofax or Moterm give as part of their package? My diyfish weeklies are literally three pieces of paper a month

Yes, I could definitely try this. I think I get too caught up in having all the pages look the same, when in reality, scrap paper will do! Thank you for watching and commenting. :)

I don't think I'll ever understand why we follow trends in this community that don't align with us or the way our brains work. One Book July assumes that the way we compartmentalize our thoughts and creativity is wrong and causes internal chaos when, in fact, it keeps our brain organized and our emotions balanced. Don't choose one if you can't choose one; go against the grain and forget about One Book July. Just another silly trend in this stationery space.

Hi and thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! I don't think that One Book July is a trend per se, as it is in its 11th year, but I understand the sentiment. I do know what works for me in terms of what my planner/journal needs to have in it for me to function, but at the same time, I like trying new things. I like seeing if my "system" would work in other layouts, and I like sharing that journey in case it sparks an idea for someone else. :) In the end, the One Book July challenge is just that - a challenge for myself to try something new.

@@mybookishagenda Oh, I wasn't criticizing you! I was just hoping to offer support to you -- or others who read this -- that there is nothing wrong with using many planners and journals, and one book is not superior for your emotional or mental organization, despite what those who started this say! No Science to back that up, and we have to align with what works with us. Glad you're aligning to the challenge if it feels new and fun to you!!

@@seekingcelestialgrace no worries! I know tone can get lost in text, so I hope my response didn't come off as rude. My reply was so I could offer a bit of insight into why I'm trying this challenge. I do love all my planners, lol, but I'm hoping this month clears my brain a bit and gives me a break from planner hopping so much.

I think you missed the original purpose. It was to see if they could go back to a less complex system for less overwhelm. Does filling pages with a ton of stickers with no function help them organize their lives? No, so can they over the month go without that and still feel good about it. Do they really need certain sections or could they fit it in differently if they find they feel like they need that info in there in some way. It's more about throwing away the trends and media influenced additions and going back to basics to see what you find you really need. It's also presented as if you want to try it as well, you are welcome to, but it's up to you. Even this video addresses attempting it because of overwhelming feelings with the current system. It's a time where others are doing the same to be a support group as well. It's honestly the time of year I see more stripped down versions where they don't need to spend 4 hours adding tapes and stickers and paintings to fill up pages for a small piece of data or multiple pages with quotes or a single word to bloat the pages used each month. It is planning without having to force in every popular sticker kit in every video. It's looking at things like tracking reading on goodreads with your notes and review info may end up being enough so don't really need to keep that much detail in the planner as they have been, maybe just a list with dates. And it doesn't mean if you have a book you journal in, you can't use it. That is a journal, not a planner. So it doesn't mean you can't have other books for non-planner purposes. It doesn't mean you can't try putting it all in one either. If you found a layout with a day on 2 pages gave you more than enough room to have multiple books fit into one without having to compromise their benefit, then it could save time and money to be spent on other things you really enjoy or maybe an extra nice version of the new layout planner to increase your enjoyment more. It doesn't hurt to try new things if you are in a place you want to try it. It doesn't make it following a trend, nor does it make it silly. Personally I went through my planner for several months trying to lessen the pages I carried with me. I finally found a digital format I could adapt to look like my paper planner without all the monthly digital backing up and filing away. It was a few pounds of weight off my shoulder that can be synced so I don't have to give up the function. I still try layouts to see if I can find a compact way to do the pages to make setting up for next year easier, less stress and overwhelm when filing everything in, and no having to worry about forgetting it when I need to reference it. Learning what I could just as easily track on my weekly rather than extra inserts or didn't even miss when gone was helpful. That's what one book is about. It's about learning more about your true needs and what you put in that you don't need or really care about.
