Until a few years back, there was a clear demarcation of occupation until women decided to empower themselves and step out. Today, they occupy all the spaces - workplaces, offices, streets, the internet, and our hearts! However, due to a generally patriarchal society, navigating these spaces has been tough. In this episode, our hosts talk about the challenges of being a woman in different spaces. They discuss how unfair it is, offer solidarity, and encourage the tribe to keep at it and make safer, better spaces.

Absolutely enjoying it. Its so lively, natural and spontaneous. But above everything loving Shweta for her intellect, perception, and eloquence. Her narratives are touching the cord at the right note. And Navya is genuinely a good thoughtful responsible girl. And for everything praise goes to Jayaji for being the wonderful root.

It's great to hear 3 generations of women interact - very much like our household but what is similar too that we tend to talk together just like you three are - this stems from the fact that women are mostly never listened to properly, so we are all eager to jump in with our views. This is a point to think about when women are together - listen to the one who is talking first and wait for your turn to speak :)

Love listening to this every week. All 3 of you have a lot of clarity in your thought processes, especially your mom. Your grandmother's also such a cool, well informed daadhi. Makes it fun for us to listen to. I know society and culture have been patriarchal for centuries, and I'm sorry for all forms of discrimination you or anyone might have faced and still face. But a little unfair to genralise "men" no? That's a theme I've felt throughout all conversations. Might be the small world I'm exposed to, but there's a lot of power and voice for all the people in my circles. I've never really thought of any idea, work or opinion as a man's or a woman's, just that person's! Women give birth. Women give so much selfless love, especially as moms and aunts. I'm surprised to hear that you all 3 believe that most men take this for granted. I'm a huge Shahrukh Khan fan, and he often speaks about and shows so much respect for the women in his life and the world. Though none of us can be SRK, I thought a significant portion of boys of our generation at least, would fall in the same bucket of admiration for all that women do, often together with men in equal capacities. Thanks again for making this podcast series happen.
@amanjotsingh6351
@amanjotsingh6351 Год назад
Men always feel there is exaggeration or men are stereotyped. It is not our space to speak over women or mansplain them their lived experiences. Surely women know better than men what their lived experiences are. They know how men dominate their household or take them for granted. Amitabh for eg had affairs despite being married to Jaya and did not value her sacrifices and loyalty as much as she did for him. Shweta Bachchan was also hardly allowed to work or study and was just married off at young age and is still separated from her husband if not divorced. So they know better what they go through compared to a man who has not lived their life. Do not judge someone or speak over them if you have not lived or experienced what others have

Women, specially in Inda, are slowly but surely setting foot on a once forbiddrn terrotory ...the professional space...... The first generation of female film actors broke this norm a generation back ( hats off to them)...... Our male counterparts are slowly getting used to seeing their wives, sisters daughters going out to work...... & to having females as colleagues in offices..... They are definitely welcomming the change ( the Western world went through these changes decades back..... We, in India, have three categories of working women... (1) The first category desperately need the job(2) The second category, can do with or without the job (3) The third category, don't really need it but, Just don't want to be left behind by her man... She loves to partner with her spouse ( usually as qualified as her spouse) ........ I think, our women need all thr support & encouragrment from our male counterparts to accept the new Indian woman & allow her to be herself,.... rather than try to curb her individuality.... .. ( which, sadly happens in many cases) ...... Only, when this happens 100℅ can thr Indian woman say she has arrived .... Besides, India has diverse catevories of people... We must learn yo accept people the way they are ... .. That is truely a Iiberated India!!

It is such a unique concept three generations in one 📻 podcast. Shweta and Navya are the byproducts of a very strong personality called Jaya Bachchan. When she was an actress she choose movies which were revolved around her. She has a fantastic brain on her shoulder. And don't forget she has raised a son called Abhishek😘 Bachchan .....the most level-headed, funny, and very respectful person. I love him from the day of Refugee. Last but not the least the man behind these women Shri Amitabh Bachchan, the grace with which he conducts himself..😘 Great To go girls, we all are part of your GROUP.

Why is it Shewta Bacchan & Jaya Bacchan? Shouldn’t it be Jaya Bahaduri? Please make this a topic of discussion why do women need to change their surname which is their identity after a marriage & keep bouncing back and forth after each marriage and divorce. In Arab Countries where women are ‘supposedly’ suppressed they never change their surnames.

The clothing is a result of globalization and western wear becoming the ‘standard’ by design. You can sell more Zara etc. if western wear becomes the standard. I’m shocked when I here Indians referring to Indian clothing as ‘ethic wear’. How in India is Indian clothing ethnic? Indians have bought the idea that western wear is ‘normal’ and anything else is an exception. Capitalism is making way for a changing of culture. I disagree, that Indian clothing is not as comfortable as western clothes. The clothes are made for the climate you live in and it’s refreshing to see people flaunt their roots unabashedly.

A very interesting podcast. I am however quite disappointed,. Mrs. Jaya Bachchan is an extremely progressive woman - given that she is 25 years older than I am. She has worked all her life - and brought up her kids so well. I would like to hear more from her. I did not appreciate when Shweta and Navya totally usurped the entire conversation - Jaya ji was not allowed to speak at all. Whatever Navya is saying, anyone who has studied abroad and especially those who took courses in the Liberal Arts would have been exposed to these ideas -- so whatever she was espousing, nothing is new. I am surprised by Shweta's weird comments -- "bad ass" / "charity begins at home" - what s Shweta saying? If you want a woman to beat up others you are doing a dis-service as well! Beating up men is not "holding her own space" - if you think this way, you got it all wrong! Listen to your Mother!! Also wasn't she supported by her mother and daughter in all her endeavors? I find Shweta really unnecessarily negative

The reason i think, that most disparity that happens with women is because they are considered the weaker sex . Yes we have physical differences our XX chromosome is different from the XY . We also have less red blood cells than men, and this affects our oxygen carrying capacity and hence to a certain extent our strength. Hence in games and sports women are paid less because their version perhaps is less powerful, less agressive, the shots or the serve is not like that of men ..the world likes a display of power, advertisers chase that ,so there is more money in the men's arena in sports or other fields . What the world is now realising and it's very imp that they do is that there is no difference in our grey cells irrespective of our chromosomes . That women are smart strong reliable and resilient far more than men at times . The world doesn't just run on testesterone.

Jaya is right. Maybe women started to wear pants and shirts to appear more masculine. Women need to work to garner acceptance even when they dress and act in a more feminine way. They don't to appear tough (unless they already are). Like someone who is soft can't lead because no one will listen to her. So, women are just caught in this circle of judgment both ways.
