It Warms my heart to know that technology is our augmented friend, and should not be portrayed or viewed as inherently rogue or detrimental to mankind , this is something truly amazing.
Results are based in part on a database built by partnering with several Pharma companies. Pharma companies received a discounted price for whole-genome-sequencing clinical trial patients and HLI was able to keep the data to build their Health Nucleus product by identifying medically actionable variants and finessing their algorithms. Problem is that the clinical trial patients never consented for a third party to make money from their genomic data. It's one thing to ask your direct customers to use their private data (DNA sequencing data) to build a service product like Health Nucleus or come up with a new treatment target, it's entirely different to purchase clinical trial samples that are then used outside of their initial consent. HLI built their database pre-GDPR but it doesn't really matter. If European regulators and legislators ever find out about this "arrangement" between big Pharma & HLI I wouldn't be surprised if Health Nucleus will need to severely curtail their offering or remove all non-customer based sequencing data from their database at a minimum. Hope your legal team is ready. Finally, just the fact that Health Nucleus is charging between $4K and previously $25K tells you all you need to know about their approach. I can't wait for the litigation in the future and this perfect narrative set-up - Using samples & data from desperate patients enrolled in various clinical trials that offer them hope of treatment or prolonged cancer survival, HLI enriches itself and offers an "executive" type of healthcare screening only the well-to-do can really afford. The rich are getting richer and stay healthier on the backs of the sick and dying. Seriously, look yourself in the mirror HLI and shame on Big Pharma for enabling you. Craig Venter was my idol after the Human Genome Project but this is an arrogant misstep. Also - your website is a master class of non-transparency. Well done.
