The egg attempting Regiwater, a pokemon the both doesn't exist and DEFINITELY would be mono-water if it did for Water-Ground is actually the most cooked single answer that I think is possible in Pokédoku.

i cringe every time i hear him say that because....that's how every type is? most fire types aren't made OF fire, most fighting types aren't made OF fists.. ground just means they have control of it, not necessarily that they're exclusively made of ground or can shake it. idk why ludwig thinks otherwise

Egg was 9 years old when the first Pokemon games released in Canada, that means he was at the prime age when Pokemania first swept the world. Pokemon was probably a major part of his childhood (at least the first three generations, which were released when he was 9, 12, and 15, respectively).
