An extract, I couldn't forbear to record aloud, from a facebook comment posted on 'Out of Town with Jack Hargreaves' on 24th May 2020.
"One day in August as I was just about to start the small Dexter that pulled a single hay cart, he beckoned me to him and said, " pop down to the meadow at Court Farm near Cuckoos Corner, later and have a look." I assumed he wanted me to see if it was ready for a second cut , but when I arrived the field was awash with flowering Thistles and Scabiosa and each flower head harboured insects of all manner. The shear volume and variety of Butterflies feeding on the blooms was amazing, I've never seen such variety before or since and as the meadow was bounded on one side by dense broad-leaf woodland there were many uncommon species too which I had never seen before and immediately I realised why the canny Farmer had always told me not to top that particular field after the first cut in June."
This prose by one of our members is thinking-to-writing in the highest degree; something all who struggle to express their experiences in words envy and admire.
