Being a DC native I thought you guys did a great job with this tour of DC video! I appreciate the diversity and culture that added some flavor to your experience! ❤
Every tourist visiting DC should be required to get a half smoke at Ben’s Chill Bowl or be issued a citation for rude behavior! Enjoyed your video of our nation’s capital!
Brilliantly filmed. I was there in 2010. I got to see the Air and Space museum, the Holocaust museum, and all the monuments, along with Arlington Cemetery. Great video, well done to you both. 👍😊💙🇨🇮
We visited the cemetery our first time as well! Such a powerful place. We hope to return soon and make it to the holocaust museum, although we hear we should dedicate a day where we are okay being very sad afterwards.
Visited Washington D.C in September 2022 with my son (we're from Germany) while a two weeks road trip. The monuments are very impressive and it's soecial to see you at a lot of same places
DC resident. Thanks for coming!! We do love our city and our half-smokes!! Next time go to a Chinese food take out and order the following: Fried wings, fries (with salt/pepper), a grape Rock Creek soda, and...this is the most important thing.....MUMBO Sauce on the side.
Enjoy your vlogs so much that I’m always a tiny bit sad when they’re over.🤷🏻♀️ Anyway, loved the D.C. sights & that visit to Ben’s had me salivating!😛 Kona is so photogenic…off the chart cuteness!🥰 Until the next video, be well.😊
Great video!!!!!!! We lived in DC 2013-17. So much to see and do. We recommend renting bikes it’s fun and easy to cover a lot of sights. Ben’s Chill bowl is awesome, @Bens next door we had the BEST chicken & waffles of our life!! Fun video guys thanks for taking us around! ~Cara 😊
Hey A+K, As someone who has posted a number of videos on the Washtington, D.C. area, I very much appreciate your video --- very well done. Great camera work and good editing. I learned from your work. Thanks for your efforts.
A completely UNDERrated memorial is FDR! It's probably our favorite other than Lincoln/Reflecting Pool. Starting at the beginning of his presidency and walking through the park....so many great quotes on the marble!! Don't miss the etching in some of the steps😉
Lovely video. If you are still in the area you should not miss hiking the Billy Goat Trail - Section A. One of the most unique and amazing fun hikes in the country.
Ah, such a good video, I already know this is going to be a long response as my mind has gone down a full-on memory lane! ❤️ I love the classical influences on the Lincoln memorial, good work with the Doric columns reference. Shame you didn't keep it rolling with the Ionic ones at the Jefferson memorial - though you got great shots of them. I can add to your Lincoln memorial pool depth facts with 'in the summer of 2010, Caroline got eaten alive by 100's of mosquito's having a bit of a party at sun set on that thing' 😖 I had no idea John Adams was the first president to live in the Whitehouse... I'll be googling where George Washington lived next! On my first visit, I queued up really early to get tickets for the observation tower of the Washington Monument, whilst it was nice that it was free, there are better observation platforms in other US cities in my opinion so wouldn't worry about not having got tickets yourself. The viewing windows were tiny! (My tip would be Top of the Rock at sun set ;) ) So pleased you went to the Roosevelt monument, it was my favourite to visit during the day. You didn't capture the quote, but I remember reading the one about success being measured not by making the rich richer, but by ensuring those who don't have enough, get enough (or something like that) and it sits so well with my beliefs!! I did love Kona's little pose next to Roosevelt's pooch though 😍 Really wish I'd known about Ben's Chili Bowl on my visits as we never quite hit the spot with any of the places we chose to eat at. That place looked amazing and I loved its history! What's more frustrating is we must have walked past it every day on our last visit as we'd get the metro to that area and walk the last stretch to our AirBnB. I giggled a bit at how much you walked, I remember walking from our apartment, up to the zoo, around the zoo, then all the way to the Mall, out to the Jefferson memorial, around the big lake... oh my goodness, we were dead on that day! I feel like the Metro isn't great for the tourist spots! If you guys make it back there, you must check out the memorials at night time. The Korean War memorial is very well done for night viewing! Whilst many of their museums are free, we visited the Spy museum which had an admission fee, but you know when its competition are free entry places, it's going to be good, and I'd highly recommend it. Not sure how it would come across on camera, but maybe for one of your non-filming days?
We always love your comments! And so happy we could help you go down memory lane! Mosquitos are NOT FUN at all! We would've just jumped into the pool to escape them (kidding of course haha!). Top of the Rock is my favorite observation EVER! I have gone during every visit to NYC and will probably go every future visit as well! The windows did look tiny on the monument. We remember the quote from the FDR memorial and love it as well! There were some really great quotes there. We hope you can check out Ben's next time! The history alone makes it such a special place to visit and the food is so delicious after walking so much. DC is definitely a great place to get history and exercise at once haha! We definitely want to visit at night next time (we were too tired to stay any longer) and really want to visit some museums. We don't plan to film museums since usually it's prohibited and also kind of awkward/takes away from our own learning, but we'd love to check more out. The spy one sounds fun!
Hello Adventurers😊😊😊, So happy that Kona and y'all is enjoying DC. So much to see in the Nations Capitol. I really like those chili dogs at Ben's. There banana pudding is really good too...ohhh yeah! Looking forward to see what's next👍👍👍👍👍👍.
@@AdventuresofAplusK Check out fisherman's wharf, Captain Mike's place just south of the Jefferson Memorial under the Bridge! Every option in the region is there!
The Lincoln Memorial is just beautiful!! Everything was wonderful. Wow, that ended up being a long walk, through a fascinating area. I just love cupcakes 🧁 I am glad you guys tried the pumpkin. You can't go wrong with pumpkin 😋 It sounds like the next video will be a surprise. Thankyou for your videos 💛🤎💛🤎💛🤎
Pumpkin is our favorite! It was actually our wedding cake flavor, so that is how much we loved it! Next video will be a long one, but a really special one for us with friends and we are excited to share it and hope others enjoy it!
This is pretty cool! 😀 Washington, DC is one of the best places to visit in the United States! This is a place of American history! 😃 I wish I could visit it!
“HONK if you love weiners!!!” 😂🌭 your outtakes made me really laugh! Loved seeing all the sights in DC and I was so happy Kona could go along to most. That cupcake looked awesome and I like Adam’s suggestion on how to eat it! Thanks for taking us along to another great destination!
Another great video. Thanks for sharing. Whoever took the scenic shots on the National Mall for this one did a great job. There’s so much to do in DC. We once visited for 4 weeks and saw something both days of all 3 weekends and most weeknights, and still didn’t complete our entire list. You’ll just have to come back to see the Holocaust and Black History museums. Both excellent, by the way.
Thank you! I was super happy with those shots, so we are glad you enjoyed them! And it is insane how much there is to do there. We will be back to visit those museums for sure!
DC has been on our list for years, we really enjoyed your video! It looked like a perfect time to visit, we expected a TON of people! Adam your advice for how to get your self guided tour for the White House was HILARIOUS 😂
It was soooo much quieter than the last time we visited (cherry blossom season on a weekend haha), we loved getting to experience it without mega crowds LOL! I died laughing when he first told me he said that 😂
So fun to see DC through your eyes! My husband keeps wondering when you’re going to come to Maryland. We were really hoping we were your special friends. 😜
I love that you all went to Baked and Wired!! Definitely the best cupcake shop in DC and their coffee is great too! I’m a local and that would be on my list of recommendations for visitors.
It's been a long time since I've been to D.C. but it's always interesting. There are so many beautiful monuments and so much that you can do or see. I believe 'sitting Abe" is actually 19 feet tall. The original design was for him to be 10 feet tall, but they modified the plan as it did not seem large enough given the substantial size of the rest of the structure. Great video.
Thanks for this video ! We are planning a trip to DC in about a month, just for a couple of days so it's good to know some of the things you mentioned. And we will definitely be checking out Ben's Chili Bowl and getting some advance tickets!
I have been all around there many times but have to say I have never been there without crowds of people. It just looks so odd without other people. I hope the tourist come back and the businesses survive until they do. It was a great place to visit with lots to see and do.
We loved it being emptier! We personally aren't fans of crowds, so it was perfect for us. This was filmed on a weekday in early November, so I think it was just less busy due to kids being in school and people working.
I love it! My hometown and always seems something new to see. The Holocaust Museum is amazing and I highly recommend. You also need to go the Museum of US History- it has all the First Lady gowns for the Inaugural Balls. I recommend the tour of the US Capitol Building. Also, you can park at Union Station and go down underground and ride the subway to the edge of the National Mall near the Washington Monument- that saves at least 2 miles one way! You did not get to see the National Zoo pandas or all the art museums, more and more!!!
Glad DC made it on your trip list. Next time, enjoy beautiful interiors at historic landmarks such as the Library of Congress, National Archives and US Capitol. All free!
We would love to! Having Kona with us made things hard, plus filming inside of museums and libraries is sometimes prohibited. We hope to return without the camera and Kona to explore more indoors 😃
Great history adventure! While visiting D.C., we stayed at the Cherry Hill Park Campground. A local bus stopped at the campground and took us to the Metro Station...so easy. So nice that you have local friends!
We loved that you guys stopped at Ben’s Chili Bowl! That looked like such a fun stop; authentic to the area, full of history, and delicious food. Maybe they’ll make a vegetarian sausage version one day since they have gluten free buns. We can only dream!
You two a plus k shows many the adventures that are always awesome adventures via a plus k and you both are awesome and thanks fo that and I used to live in the Seattle ft.lewiis area Washington state area during my four year tour looking at
@@AdventuresofAplusK yes Mt rainierc i saw every day from my barracks window and it was about 50 miles aways but the view was always cool to see and always a pleasure too see.
I'm not sure where you're starting from to go to the mall, but here is some info on parking near the mall: www.nps.gov/nama/planyourvisit/parking.htm Hope that helps!
She was allowed in all outdoor spaces, but not inside museums or inside monuments (like the Lincoln Memorial or the Thomas Jefferson Memorial). But she was able to visit a lot of the national mall!
This was filmed in early November, but normally our videos aren’t this delayed. For our New England videos we put the date we filmed in every video’s pinned comment so folks could know what to expect fall foliage wise (Although every year is different). Early to mid October was definitely the best color in most places we visited!
Hi, it's me again from Germany. I also will stop in Washington on my Roadtrip in a Campervan. Do you have any Suggestion for a campground near D.C.? I also will enjoy the tasty looking Chilli in Georgetown - it's also on my List. Have a great time.
On your next trip, walk the Tidal Basin at night to see the monuments all lit up. They are even more impressive and somehow seem larger when they’re lit up. If your going to write your Congressman, request access to the Capitol instead of the White House. Find the star on the steps of the Lincoln for the I Have a Dream speech.
@@AdventuresofAplusK thank you. Love your adventures, will be beginning ours soon. We are north of Seattle in lynnwood if you need to park for the night as you head north
This video tour was so well put together. Loved that you started in Georgetown. We were in DC in October. One suggestion: the music played while showing the war memorials was jarringly too upbeat. These are sobering monuments and more serious music would have touched us on a deeper level. Thanks.
Thanks for watching! We intentionally selected music that we felt wasn't upbeat, but also not super depressing, as we wanted to celebrate and honor those who fought for our country. I guess we have a different perception of the music, so we are sorry that you felt differently.
DC is nice to visit, wouldn't want to live there. You walked a bunch! The way to eat a cupcake is to take the top off and make it a sandwich with the icing in the middle.
