I LOVE Bangkok - I was there in December, every street is a photo opportunity. I found that a tighter lens, 50mm or 85mm was really good around Bangkok as the streets are so busy it's often difficult to get a good composition. And your comments on the GM1 are fair and correct - I like the GM1 but it is not a great camera.

Great video Matti...I am retired living here in Bangkok...Of. course I have always loved Thailand...first time I lived and. worked here back in 1972...I often do a bit of street photography as well... but usually only a couple of shots on any given day.... please enjoy your stay...love your videos...Maybe on a future trip...we meet up for a cup of coffee on me...cheers. PS...next time you are in town...check out Mega Plaza in Burapha China town...5th floor...Lots of small shops with second hand gear including great lenses as well.

Every trip should have a few cliché photos for fun memories. Mostly I like to photograph quirky things unique to each country like billboards, signs, product packaging, and people wearing interesting clothing.

Agree 100% and like your approach. I think when we're travelling there's a danger of taking ourselves a bit too seriously, maybe because family or friends "expect" you to show them your "masterpieces" when you get home. Clichés are OK IMHO because if I take cliché shots they're my clichés for personal use! If you're putting together a public photobook which you're hoping to sell or for an exhibition then that's probably another matter entirely.

Love your street captures. I own the Ricoh GIIIx. I was wondering if you would be into sharing your settings? So you shoot in “P” mode. Do you use auto ISO and if so what are your settings for Auto ISO??

Enjoying following your journey as ever. Have you heard of a fix for a problem when your GR3 shows language choice every time you switch on? It has just started happening to me and I cannot find a solution on the web (though found a couple of other people asking the same question!). Enjoy your adventures

@@mattisulanto I used the Reset feature, everything appears selected and I couldn't unselct, but I did it. The problem still seemed to be there. But after a couple of switch on and offs it stopped and is back to normal. Weird but happy it is working normally again, thanks for the suggestion.

Oletko perehtynyt kameroiden materiaalin laatuun? Onko jollakin merkillä materiaalit paremmat kuin toisella? Olen käpistellyt paljon Canonin kameroita, ja niiden materiaalien laatu ja nappien toiminta yms. "miltä tuntuu käsitellä" laatu on ollut hyvä. Olen käpistellyt paria Sonyn kameraa enkä voinut uskoa kuinka huonolaatuisia materiaalit olivat Sony merkkisiksi. Kameraliike meinasi, että Fujilla olisi laadukkaampia materiaaleja. Mitä olet itse mieltä? Ehkä "build quality" ois hyvä aihe ihan videoksi? Niitä ei tunnu youtubesta löytyvän.

Se on hieman vaikea aihe, koska siitä ei voi oikein sanoa muuta kuin miltä tuntuu. Minä esim. en ole sitä mieltä, että Sonyn materiaalit olisivat erityisen huonoja tai että Fujin poikkeuksellisen hyviä😀 Eli siinä jokaisella varmaan on oma mielipide, eikä mitään faktaa oikein löydy minkään tueksi. Testaaminen taas on ihan mahdotonta. Toisaalta voisihan siitä ehkä vaan puhua... pitää miettiä asiaa. Kiitos vinkistä.

@@mattisulanto okei. Omat Sony tuotteet ovat olleet hyviä 30 vuoden aikana. Mietin että raakaaine pula ja covid olisivat vaikuttaneet laatuun. Itse pidän how it feels teemoista. Käyttökokemus siis.

The Ricoh GR3 is great! It's such a unique camera, I decided to sell it because there are only so many cameras one can own and keep a marriage together...:) I agree on the danger of cliches, I always say that anyone who is still able to take an original picture of Venice is a genius. BTW some countries are much easier for street photographers, in Asia people don't mind, they are used to tourists and are not obsessed about privacy like in Northern Europe

Thanks. Over here it definitely is a lot easier to shoot street compared to some EU countries, for example. However, that raises the bar also and it's more difficult to create any kind of original photos.

Very nice video, Matti! There is no valid reason for someone to get mad because you may not have liked the same camera he does. Fanboys are a good thing, I think. That means passion. Passion means inspiration and drive. Good images come from that. Now, when people get really angry, I think that's silly, but it comes with the fanboy package sometimes. I like your low light images, they tend to be dramatic.

@@mattisulanto I am a Canon, Nikon, and Sony fanboy. Those Ricoh cameras look nice, but I don't think I could live with a single lens (though I admit my Rolleiflex tlr is limited to a single focal length).
