The higher harmonies in the chorus of Act My Age were always Liam, even though some people thought it was Zayn.

Liam's high notes are not forceful. Great example is on the song Teenage Dirtbag. Zayn's high notes there are similar to the high notes in the last chorus of Act My Age. Liam's high note (falsetto in bridge) in TD is not forceful as the one Zayn does.

@@kaizen1496 I’ve already listened to the acapella part, and it’s obviously Liam. The thickness of the falsetto is a distinctive quality to Liam’s timbre. Zayn’s falsetto in You and I doesn’t sound anything like this part. Also, you can hear Zayn doing a high backing vocal around 1:23 in that video, which doesn’t sound like the high harmony in the chorus. Not to mention, you can clearly hear the similarities between Liam singing the high harmony live to the studio recording, even though it sounds a little different their vocals are edited before they release the studio version.

The high notes in Act My Age audio are belts. Zayn can do the belts (also Harry). Liam can only do head voice. If it was Liam, his higher pitch falsetto would've been obvious. Belt notes and head voice are very distinct. In their live performance, Liam does a head voice since he can't do a belted note. An example of a belted note is Zayn's high note in Loved You First. In that high note, he doesn't sound like a girl. An example of a head voice is Zayn's high note on You & I, he screams "like a girl" when hitting it and is higher pitch. Since Liam can do a head voice, he can closely sing it in live performances in absence of Zayn. Also, you can softly do a head voice while you can't on doing a belted note. High note in Act My Age is not soft and not high pitch. Therefore, the studio version high note is Zayn's.

@@kaizen1496 Harry and Zayn aren’t the only ones that can’t belt. Liam can too. He did it in his second X Factor audition and his solo song All I Want. He’s probably done it more than that, but I’m not familiar enough with his solo music to provide more examples. Also, the You and I isn’t head voice. Zayn starts in chest voice with the phrase “Cause You and I” and then at the end of the “I” he transitions into falsetto. The thin, breathy nature at end of the note makes it obviously falsetto. The high harmony is Liam. He did most of the high harmonies. His high harmonies in One Thing are similar to this part, but they sound nothing like Zayn. It’s missing the smoky texture to Zayn’s voice. It’s also definitely not a belt. While it’s thicker than Zayn’s falsetto, it’s not as thick as his belting in Loved You First.
