Its not like the old days where you hang up your boots. Dublin have changed that. Even Kerry's great midfielder Barry is taking 2024 off, that's more what the Dublin players did last year, maybe Cluxton's is a last hurrah but how he came back seemed the Dublin camp always knew what was happening come 2023, for the game and life is so different for players now, you need that break to access your life and do you still have the time and appetite for playing. Obviously they were fit and picked their matches to peak at the final. They'll do the same next year and will know if they'll be part of it by now. There's never any big announcements just the same as when Gavin left, no fuss and the process as they called it went on. Dublin have new players already with All Irelands so it's not now down to the big ones staying or leaving. The same for all other teams for life these days is totally different from the seventies when players went on and on like the great Kerry team. It's different now.

Why are you all talking about the Kerry misses? You'd think Dublin hadn't missed scores. If it was Geaney who hit the crossbar like O'Callagnan you be talking about that, or the other wide in the first and second half by Dublin that were not difficult, but the temperature of the game was so high I've always seen Dublin beat Kerry in the last quarter, faster and fitter, even in this one. Remember last year without the 'old players' coming back It took the last kick of the game, a great point for Kerry with everything riding on it, that game could have went either way. 2024 will be no different because there is Derry, Tyrone, Mayo and it will be the same again, who scores the most at the end. That's the game with lots of mistakes and brilliant scores and good and bad referees so take your pick. Dublin will be there again and Kerry, and the motivation will be the same. To win Sam.
