Even I had to double-take when I saw Spencer's Jamaican disguise. That's how you know that this was filmed in the 2000s. That shit would never fly today.
Even though Overdrive is considered by many to be one of it not the WORST season of Power Rangers, I'll say that it is better than MOST of the Nickelodeon seasons by a mile...
A lot of the complaints come down to the characters acting pretty horribly, especially once you're able to compare them directly to older rangers in the Once a Ranger crossover. That doesn't mean the show doesn't have its bright spots, even bright spots with these characters.
@@Deity_devil the FIRST season of DC was excellent! Season 2...ok, it wasn't awful but goodness that ending with all the time travel/changing the timeline nonsense was WAY TOO MUCH
@@OurKindofEntertainment Honestly, it's actually pretty good (minus the dark energem black hole thing being super random), considering that makes dino charge canonically fail to save the planet because it got consumed by a black hole. (In fact, this implies there is a third ranger dimension (fourth counting rpm) where the earth was destroyed and never recovered because there had to be no dinos AND no earth getting destroyed for the other seasons to make sense.
Operation overdrive was a season where they tested something new. I really like the idea of treasure hunting. It was very exciting and everything they doing & happening had a purpose. I love it. ❤
"omg now they hate overdrive" is funny that everywhere i see it's the opposite , i remember liked it more than Mystic Force when i was a child but never hit with me like Dino Thunder SPD and Jungle Fury did. Also loved those suits so much that wanted a Green Overdrive Ranger
man this took me back Hedge. I haven't watched the funness of Power Rangers in ages since 2005 the latest. Then I watched the reboot film and highly enjoyed that. hearing ya talk about this gen of power rangers is honestly making me wanna go back n give a few gens a try since its been ages again.
I feel that. Some of the 80s Sentai when I was going through them recently felt like hours watching a 19 minute episode. And I even managed to cut them down to 16-17 minutes based on how much stock footage they felt like putting in… Sun Vulcan in particular being by far the worst offender. Fully roll call and full giant robo combination sequence for 50 episodes. And there’s only 3 of them!!!
Right after I watched the season premiere when it aired I got the flu And years later when I watched the same season premiere with a friend I got COVID right afterward It's a curse 💀
I remember not really being interested in Power Rangers after SPD but I was at my cousin’s and “Once a Ranger” came on, one of the best moments in television history
Naw I understand why Operation Overdrive can kind of be seen as not good. And I also recall not really loving the episode with the pink ranger, getting possessed by a ghost. Regardless, I really enjoy the characters and the indiana jonesesqe adventure aspect of Overdrive. Big Zoomer energy power rangers.
I have to say one thing I don’t wanna spoil it, but I’m pretty sure I can’t spoil something at 17 years ago. Mac being an android was interesting. They basically re-create Pinocchio.
Lol I was laughing at your zord comment because it is the same for cosmic fury. That season they are stuck on a planet until they need to rescue Zayto and they get help from Mic who flys away in the dragonzord he got from the rangers.... to go back to his galaxy like it shouldn't have been so hard to get back. They tried to give a reason and say that the swords couldn't enter the planet Only to ruin that by sending them in their zords to the planet
I think Overdrive is okay but I will watch it over most of the Neo-Saban era (beside Dino charge) I feel like the writers and producers tried with this show despite the budget cuts and Disney messing with thing. There was some care even if it didn’t work. I like the Mack plot twist . It’s better than Robo-Knight apparently being alive. I love Roseo Pirate episode was pretty cool. I just have a soft spot for her
@@mohammadmurieum supermegaforce had a 2 parter that used 0 gokaiger footage and only goseiger footage that showed that robo knight got turned evil but then came back in the legendary battle cus plot
@lunacox7826 oh ok those seasons are so forgettable and underwhelming that I forgot that I still hate how they made supermegaforce instead of pirates but kept the suits, zords, etc from it
I'd still take Overdrive over Samurai and Megaforce, but I still really don't care for the season. I think what holds it together for me was Spencer and Hartford, just for the out-of-combat stuff
Hot take Andrew hartford should have been the sixth ranger he said he wanted to be red so him not being a ranger at all make no sense. Still liked overdrive though and i will always defend it.
Agreed!!! It's definitely in my top list of Power Rangers seasons. I remember watching it on Jetix and I had a blast. The season was an adventure from the start to the very end. It's a unique season and I love it for that very reason. ❤️
i dislike this season so much lol, I give it some credit over some like the neo saban seasons cause at least they had ideas and tried things, just executions that didnt work for me, by FAR the worst Disney era and i hate it because without it Disney doesnt have bad seasons imo
I don't think operation overdrive is at all terrible. Cons .the corona aurora and the crystals are blatant rip-off of thanos and the infinity gauntlet .some cut corners in the budget .weak jokes and some cringey moments That said Pros Likeable characters that got their own character development Mack learns that being a human comes from the choices you make on your own and not just bc of your feature describe who you are. Rose learn that even geniuses have something special in them Dax learn that somethings are just worth staying behind the scene so that makes him wanna be a director instead. Ronnie learn that winning isn't everything Will learned that there's no i in team Tyzonn learn to grow a custom to earths society .actions are decent still . Motor and furious manager to scare the hell out of me
Precisely. I think Operation Overdrive was judged very harshly. Considering what we got years later with Samurai and Megaforce, it's definitely not as bad as one might think.
@@louiswilson3653 I don't see kalishplosion as an issue as long as it's done right. See if it's used only for role call that's usually a symbolic meaning that the rangers determination is so strong, explosion happened behind them
