I personally don't have a use for all of the other features in the thicc boy, but just having an SP with a wireless rechargeable battery and headphone jack is already a game changer
Thank you Retro-Spect🙏! It’s so interesting that Nintendo decided to remove the headphone Jack and opted for a proprietary port. I agree it’s one of the more important feature of the thicc boi! Cheers buddy 😁
@@dboymax1 its actually really easy in comparison to soldering single wires aslong as u get it right next to the solder point and heat the solder up you should get it to make contact im excited about these type of mods because it makes life easier the fear i always have is getting it way too hot and melting the ribbon but ive done a few and havent had an issue yet! seems kinda hard to melt them honestly gotta hold it directly on the ribbon for a second or 2 to make any damage happen
i would prefer to have a GBA SP with non rechargeable batteries. right now the only option is installing a brighter screen in a GBA regular model, but the design is simply not as good as the GBA SP clam shell design. if there was an attachment that took 4 AA batteries to power the GBA SP that would be perfection.
Important! Please read! There are a number of peripherals that utilize the side holes for grip on the gba sp and original gba. Please consider revising the bottom shell to include those hole grooves for the peripherals. Things like the gba wireless connector or other japanese add ons won't work if you don't modify the case you made for the injection molding. Just an FYI.
Also, the Official GC to GBA cables need those holes that clip. As a Gen 3 Pokémon player, FF Crystal Chonicles and Zelda 4-Swords player, it will effectively remove a GBA/player from a session.
This looks great, I hope you'll be offering different color choices for the shell, I have a transparent violet purple shell from retro game repair shop and it'd be cool if I could get a color that either matches or at least compliments it well -- Looking forward to the kickstarter ♥
Yep, we’re still trying to figure out colors. They may be limited due to the cost and the minimum order quantity we would need for each color. I will keep everyone posted on this
My SP shell is shot anyway, I was just planning on doing a full paint job using what’s left over from my car’s touch up paint. A metallic black, should look cool
@@coreyellis5281 you can actually do this. in one of the iterations we did we fit the bluetooth module (with some trimming) into the factory shell, but its a hog for power, and required some super creative wire routing
Super excited that you are going to make this a mod kit that will be available for purchase. it would be awesome if the final bottom shell piece could incorporate the two little notches of the original SP to allow for wireless link adaptor and Gamecube link cable functionality to be maintained. Can't wait to see this further develop. Keep up the good work!
That looks awesome, can’t wait for more updates! As a quick note, it’s TRRS, not TRSS. Tip Ring Ring Sleeve. There can only be one tip and one sleeve; it’s the number of rings that’s variable (from 0 to 2, typically). Not sure of that was just a misspeak a misunderstanding.
Probably a misunderstanding. He says TRS has 2 rings, and "TRSS" has 3 rings. Obviously referring to the plastic isolators in-between each section, but it wouldn't make sense to call those "rings" when the standard already has a different component of that name.
I think it's so awesome that you're taking your love and passion for modding consoles to the next level by developing your own kit. I'll be buying one for sure. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much Tyler! It’s really a dream come true to be able to work with such talented folks to make this mod a reality. Really appreciate the support and I’m glad you’re excited for this mod 😁🙏
Just shy of 20 hours?!?! I'm glad I'm a patron because I'll be getting one of these (I really hope clear orange is going to eventually be an option for the shell... I want it to match my existing SP so bad haha).
That's something I would really want! more battery and USB-C would help me a lot! (I made trips too long, and no place to recharge at all times, so, it could be a great economy of time, haha)
This is depressing, it's the only mod I cared about since October 2020. I assume this isn't happening 😪 I think I'm going to take a crack at creating my own, minus Bluetooth and wireless charging.
Awesome mod, it looks like what i always wanted! A way to play for extended times, not the poor 3 to 4 hours i can get with the stock battery. As a kind of critique, I think you should consider a circuit to be able to power off bluetooth, or at least a way to turn off that blinking light. I can imagine being in a plane with all lights off trying to play and then flashing everyone around with that bluetooth light. I think it would be nice if it can be turned off. otherwise, maybe some shell work to encase or direct the light in a specific direction, preferably downwards. Keep the awesome work!
i am very interest in this. this is great!!!! i would love to see a hinge-less version in the future. This could help portability with moving the board to the top and keeping the battery and cart port in the bottom. size would be close to a GB pocket.
I think it's really amazing how you guys manage to turn such a retro console into a state-of-the-art! I have a lot of admiration for you and I really hope that everything works out and that you manage to launch this kit and that it is sold a lot!
I've been hoping someone would do something like this. The only thing I can think of that would count as a major improvement instead of a minor one would be to figure out a custom top so a larger screen could fit, but there's not much space left for that. Maybe a custom metal shell for the top?
I intend to join the kickstarter, when it appears. I think the only thing it doesn't have now, that most do, is the ability to play it on TV, but, I think the regular GBA would still be better for that. Just imagine though... the unhinged t h i c c boi, or, as I like to call it. The SNORLAX.
I don’t think I’ll get this. Just because I don’t personally need it. I prefer a slimmer design. And I’ve done a wireless charging mod on my regular SP. And I also went and splurged on a boxypixel unhinged SP mod. Added all the bells and whistles as well. Besides Bluetooth as while cool I don’t really need it. I typically don’t use headphones with my Gameboys and if I do I always have my wired earbuds nearby. Regardless I will say that if I was just starting out buying an SP and modding it. This is definitely the way I’d have gone about it. I’d have bought an ips kit. And this kit. Adding these different mods to my different SPs has been a hassle at different points due to my skill level not being high enough at the time. While the soldering is still a bit on the fine side. The fact that every mod is on one board. And I can have one flex cable that I just solder a few points to instead of worrying about wire management and the like would’ve been amazing. So I can definitely see it being something good for people freshly getting themselves started. I don’t know how possible this next idea would be, but I do think your reputation with them would be a big deciding factor in everything. But I think a cool idea would be to collaborate with Boxy Pixel on this project. It was kind of a pain to add all the separate components to my unhinged SP shell and manage the wires and the new battery. But if you guys worked with Boxy Pixel. I could see this being a great addition to helping the Unhinged be a bit more accessible as it’d be simpler to add the extra components. A slightly bigger back to fit in PCB you guys designed, including the large battery. Having the parts all in place at their respective locations on the shell without the need of hot glue or double sided tape. I do understand that their would be hurdles. Price would increase because of materials. To facilitate the form factor, the Boxy Pixel shell would either have to place the added components onto the back behind the screen located beneath the charging port and link cable. Instead of the bottom by the cartridge slot. Or you guys would need to move the components on the PCB to be at the bottom more like the current Boxy Pixel Unhinged Design. However, I think it’s worth looking into. Boxy Pixel makes high quality shells. Their not something everyone buys. But they are really sleek and gorgeous to look at. And since they’re well known, having the PCB for sale there right next to the custom shell or vice versa would be great to draw additional attention to the project. Boxy Pixel may also be willing to invest in the project depending on how the finished product sales would be divided up. I know it’s probably a long shot. But I can’t help but think it’s another Avenue to at least look into for an even wider application of the amazing modification you guys have designed and built.
While the wireless charge and the headphones jack are a really cool upgrade is the big ass battery really necessary? I know the GBA is a really beloved console but i don't think anyone loves it enough to need that much play time.
This is all kinds of awesome but had you considered taking advantage of the extra room to solve the headphone jack TRRS problem? I'm pretty sure an SPDT audio jack (and there are some small profile ones) would allow you to use audio ground for the R and L channels, while also shorting the regular ground with the speaker mute pin when headphones are inserted in order to kill the speaker. This is how the headphone dongle works internally! The old TRRS jack trick shorted the jack's microphone ring with ground to kill the speaker, but doing so means, as you described, you can't use TRRS headphones (which indeed have a separate microphone ring rather than one long ground sleeve to facilitate the trick) and it also doesn't filter DC from the signal path so in turn it damages headphones unless you add capacitors to the separate channel paths
It would be absolutely amazing if once the product is commercial, you released different iterations of it. (I would love a Thicc Boi without the wireless charger, and a smaller battery if it's possible to shrink the height)
Same. I don't think I will ever use the wireless charger since I do not own one myself, but the headphone jack and USB C charging is just sooo good, and I am very interested in bluetooth audio also. I think most people are good with 800-1000 mAh batteries, so if they can use those batteries or have extra space to make slightly bigger ones, I'd be happy.
Same here. I have magnetic chargig tips for all my electronics, so the usb-c is all I would want for charging. I already have the second battery shown in my sp, so maybe do a version that uses that, no wireless charging, and no lag bluetooth?
I have been messing around with bluetooth audio on my SP. I know it will add to cost but consider adding a tiny on/off switch to bluetooth module because when you are not using it, it is searching for a connection and using battery power. (if i understand how the bluetooth board works like it think it works)
we might be able to address that in software, the radio has a verbose configuration layer accessible through some programming pins, radio will still be on but not transmitting at full power the whole time while not paired
Using the gba expansion cover from before I managed to fit a USB c charging port, larger battery (1400 mAh 103048), a headphone Jack behind the top display and a wireless charging module. Pretty decent upgrades, all without the kinda ridiculously big thicc boy sp bottom cover. It's very cool how you guys redesigned this mod to be a lot easier to install though. The size is just not my thing.
@@MachoNachoProductions I'm also concerned about the size but it depends on people taste and their hand size. What about a thicc boi "light" ? Basically same design but reduced height, smaller battery (19h hour of battery life is quite overkill to be honest), smaller hinge for L/R buttons and that's it.
Thank you Predicable Enigma! This was a heavy lift from both Helder and Kyle, I was just there to help with testing and some design input. Really appreciate the kind words dude 😁. Cheers buddy
The next revision : The Thinnboi Step 1: replace original charger plug with USB C plug Step 2: replace accessories plug with headphone jack Step 3: using smaller dimension solid state batteries with bigger amount capacity Step 4: using the same wireless charge module, Bluetooth module. Now you have The Thinboi , with the same dimension like the original and can fit to your pocket. Just Perfect!
This is a serious question, I've never came across your channel before and the SP ThicCboi is cool but what advantage does this have over the Gameboy advance being modded? I see a lot of videos about that form being modded and ive even started buying some parts for mine to put in a type c usb changer and new back lit screen? (also if you just did it because you love the SP models, that totally cool too)
Damn this looks amazing and I can imagine the benefits it would have for an SP. Its a shame it's not available for the OG GBA (I prefer the wider grip and ergonomics of it) but oh well
This is awesome! I've been waiting to see the progress on this and no disappointment here. I really like the idea of a Kickstarter for this. Did you see how successful the Infinity GBC game has been? That battery life time is amazing! Do you think a future revision could support TV out? Seems like there might be space for it? I don't know. Anyway, thanks for your hard work, your editing skills (damn man) and nice haircut! Looking forward to future updates.
Hey there! Big fan of your work! This looks really great! I’m an aerospace design engineer and would happily help with feedback on your shell design prepping for injection molding. Looking forward to your final product!
I would definitely join the kickstarter for the thicc boi. I've been looking for a new handheld project. Also I've never owned an SP mainly because it looks uncomfortable to hold. This looks a bit better.
This is really the absolute best GBA SP mod ever, it has everything you'll ever need! I'm following your channel and this mod from the beginning and it looks awesome, I'm glad to see how has been developed.
hi iv been waching you vids for a year and it has insperd me to ripair retro tek and colet retro consose (im sory a bout my spelling i have iishes spelling im sorry)
I've been baffled by the desire to have Bluetooth on a handheld console considering you're going to be in close proximity to the unit anyway in order to play on it in the first place.
Good effort. I am also modding an SP to add all the mod cons. However, I'm trying not to expand the case (as I carry it everywhere). Here's how I'm going about it: • Using Makho battery. Seeing this new battery uses cables to connect the battery to its connector PCB, you gain some flexibility. Becasuse of this, I was able to dremel away the battery compartment to get more space. • Headphone jack under the power LEDs (seems to be the most popular place to put it). Using Helder's Power Cleaner PCB to avoid noise. Works fine. • USB-C connector can fit between the EXT and link ports. The port has been installed but it not connected. I'm currently waiting for a PCB I designed to make soldering easier. • Wireless charging: After soldering some extension wire between the charging module's coil and PCB, it fits quite nicely thanks to the missing battery compartment; Coil on top of the battery; PCB below. Has not been connected yet as it will connect to the same PCB as the USB-C port. • Bluetooth audio is waiting for when low latency modules are available. I'm planning on using the shell of a wireless transfer pak or a GameCube cable connector to house it when that time comes. That was I can use it with any GBA (or GC GBA Player). Sorry if the comment sounds like a ramble; I'm in bed with a fever.
I've said this once and I'll say it again: amazing to see how much your channel's grown since I first subbed. This is definitely something that appeals to me, even if I wouldn't be able to afford it at the moment. Oh well, there's always the future :P
While I think this is an awesome mod and it's very cool to see this collaboration work out, you lost me at "portability is a small price to pay". I take my GBA to work specifically because it easily fits in my pocket. The extra battery is great, but 19+ hours seems unnecessary. To me, shave half or a quarter inch off and it's perfect.
I'm an idiot: when you are tinning the board, you apply some liquid and then the solder. What is this liquid? Is it just liquid flux? Your description has a link to a flux pen, but this seems to be different from what you're doing in the video. I have a heck of a time getting solder to stick to the GBA motherboards when I solder, is it because I'm not applying flux beforehand?
@@KyleBrinkerhoff Most flux pens look like a highlighter. In the video, it looks like a crazy needle is used. Is this just another way of applying the flux?
The functionality of this is great, unfortunately it kills all portability of the SP, I'd only play this at home, but at home I'd much rather play on a big screen via a gamecube, emulator, or a consolizer.
Wonder how long until we get the "Super Thicc Boi" which features all the features plus a video output and somehow an even bigger battery. This is an amazing feat and I can't wait to see what future mods come to the SP
I'd honestly love to see something that might be met negatively by purists. Would really like to see a version of this with full on ergonomic handles. It would kill the portability of it, but the older I get the more ergonomics take precedence over everything else.
Agreed. Between the small screens and the lacking ergonomics, I never use portable game systems anymore. I've been playing so much more Game Boy ever since building the GBA Conzolizer mod last year.
@@mjc0961 Yeah, I bought an Anbernic RG351p as an alternative to a modded GBA since it has the perfectly scaled screen, and the lack of ergonomics quickly killed my desire to use it. I had a friend 3D print me a well reviewed grip for it and I am loving it now. An ergonomic SP with fully modern functionality/screen sounds like a great concept to me after using my emulator with the grip.
The one feature that would really make me consider this over my modded AGB would be some improvement to the shoulder buttons, I've always hated the SPs nubs
@@KyleBrinkerhoff Thanks for the reply! Would love to see this feature, perhaps off the shelf parts (joycon triggers?) may work in a different shell mold on the bottom? Either way will be following the project
OMG,… this might turn my SP 101 into my perfect dream-Gameboy! I absolutely hate how thin the SP models are. I can’t hardly play them comfortably without putting a stack of sticky notes or something respective beneath. My advance games widely go without play these days, because I prefer my original Gameboy with a backlight mod, and don’t want to fart with the shitty reflective display on the OG GB advance,
I don't get it, people really like the medium and not the..essence, why modify your old GBA when there are 100 ways to play GBA games? I personally just got a gamepad with a clip for my phone and..100% satisfaction :-) (just remember to seek out a gamepad that has little lag..don't just buy the cheapest one out there..)
Dude take my money the big Boi 4500Mah battery and bluetooth to connect to headphones or speaker 🔊 is game changer for me. The 800Mah battery on my gameboy doesn't last long with isp mod screen .
I'm curious if a mod like this could "fix" my busted SP actually. It had a battery swell and damage part of the charging circuit, so while it still runs and plays fine, it can't charge at all. Might have to look into a mod like this sometime (or clearly see if I'm able to repair the charging circuit somehow, but this'd be cooler)
Do you consider yourself to be a good person? Most people do. However, most of us differ as to the definition of "good." The Bible says that God is good, and the Ten Commandments are His standard of goodness. So, we will look at God's Law . . . With a tender conscience, ask yourself if you have obeyed the following: You shall have no other gods before Me. (Have you always loved God above all else?) You shall not make yourself an idol. (Have you made a god in your mind that you're more comfortable with, a god to suit yourself?) You shall not take God's name in vain. (Have you ever used God's holy Name as a cuss word?) Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy. Honor your father and mother. You shall not murder. (God considers hatred to be as murder). You shall not commit adultery. ("Whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart" Matthew 5:27-28; this also includes sex before marriage). You shall not steal. (Have you ever stolen anything? the value of the item is irrelevant). You shall not lie. (Have you lied even once? Including answering these questions). You shall not covet. (Have you ever jealously desired what belongs to others?) The Bible says that God will punish all murderers, rapists, thieves, liars, adulterers, etc. He will even judge our words and thoughts. On Judgment Day, will you be found to be guilty or innocent of breaking His commandments? Perhaps you think that God is good, and will therefore overlook your sins. But it is His goodness that will make sure that murderers, rapists, thieves, liars, etc. receive justice. He would be a corrupt Judge if He turned a blind eye to injustice. Have you kept the Commandments? The Bible says that the Law is perfect. It commands you to be perfect (Matthew 5:48). Are you perfect (in thought, word, and deed)? Will you make it to Heaven? You may say that you are still good, but God says you're not (see Psalm 14:2-3). So one of you is lying, and the Scriptures tell us that it is impossible for God to lie. Remember that all liars will be cast into the Lake of Fire (Revelation 21:8). God's Law demands justice, and the penalty for sinning against Him is death and Hell. Listen carefully if you want to live. God Himself made a way where His justice and His goodness could meet. We broke the Law, but He became a man to pay the fine. Jesus suffered and died on the cross to satisfy the Law. God can forgive us and grant us the gift of everlasting life! But you may still think that you can (from now on) keep the Ten Commandments. But isn't it true that the best of us have lied, stolen, lusted, hated, failed to love God above all else, and failed to love our neighbor as ourselves? How can we then, live a "good" life if we have already sinned against God? At best we are reformed liars and thieves . . . but still Lawbreakers. Think of it this way - would you sell one of your eyes for a million dollars? Would you sell both for $50 million? I'm sure you wouldn't. Your eyes are priceless, yet they are merely the windows of your soul. What then must your life (soul) be worth? With these thoughts in mind, what would be a fair price to pay for everlasting life? It is utterly without price. Yet, if we trust in our own goodness to enter Heaven, we are saying to God, "I should enter Heaven because I have done good - I have earned my way in." Imagine if you wanted to give me a brand new (very expensive) car, but I said, "I can't take it! I feel embarrassed receiving such a gift . . . here's 10 cents for it." I'm sure you would be very insulted by such a pathetic offer of payment. Besides, if I pay for it, it is no longer a gift, it's a purchase . . . it's mine by right. When we talk of entering Heaven by being good, by trying to keep the Ten Commandments etc., we are tossing God 10 cents of "self-righteousness," which is a terrible insult to Him, in the light of His sacrifice. The only thing we can do is humble ourselves, repent of our sins, and receive the gift by trusting Jesus Christ alone. Almighty God demonstrated how much He loves you when Jesus suffered for you on the cross. If you want to trust in your own goodness, then you are saying His agonizing death on the cross was in vain. The Bible says, "For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God." You cannot earn a gift. When Jesus said to "believe" on Him, He was saying we should have faith in Him, in the same way you would trust a parachute to save you when you jump from a plane. You don't merely believe in the parachute - you put it on. Please don't "jump" without Jesus. If you die in your sins there is no second chance. God will give you justice, and you will end up in Hell forever. Any troubles you have at present are dwarfed by the trouble you are in with your Creator. His wrath abides upon you (John 3:36). God doesn't want you to go to Hell. Neither do you want to go there, so confess your sins to God right now, put your trust in Jesus to save you, and you will pass from death to life. Then read the Bible daily and obey what you read. (See John 14:21). Your obedience to God is the proof of your love. Have faith in God, He will never fail you.
Just awesome. I'm impresse how you simplify the process to a nearly perfect mod. Nearly because now I think the L & R button are too short with the thicc boi install 😅. It can be a good idea to custom the trigger and make them longer to fit the new case. My SP need mod and I thinking to make it THICC BOI now 😅, so I'm going to wait the crowdfunding start 👍. Great job.
Makes me wonder how much space you could save by removing the GBA's original charging port and moving the usb c and bluetooth button and maybe the audio port up there instead. And maybe if you could reshuffle where things sit.... I know you can't because of the PCB but its nice to imagine
Love helder's products! I've purchased every amp he's released for the Gameboy and DS and they work great! If you guys can get the Bluetooth lag fixed I'll definitely back the project.
We’re hoping to find one with less lag. The current module is actually pretty good but because it is converting analog to digital, there may be now way to completely eliminate it.
Excuse me, but I need this! I have 2x Advance SP+ consoles that are itching to be modded! I'll definitely be picking one up! (But if ya need a reviewer, I'd be happy to jump on board)
I personally don’t see much value into this mod, probably because i don’t play such long sessions of hours anymore, if hyperkin will make their version of the gba sp with such features to met modern standards,am oke with that but why modding originals systems just for features it already has in 1 way or another,is beyond me.
More battery life, earphone socket, and USB-C charging is all I want personally, but the rest is nice too. Might be the first Kickstarter I ever pledge to. I just hope purchasing the necessary parts can be done separately and not just as a single package.
why not do this for the GBA too? better form factor and I think you can design the shell to have hand grips, but also use that space for internal modding? just a thought, this is awesome as it is ^^ but my big monkey hands wish this was available for GBA too
@theludeguy, hey bud question i am on the edge off buying the "SP Power Cleaner Flex PCB" & "GBA SP Flex Amp", Are u satisfied with them??. Does it amplify the sound enough to your liking??. And do u think the cleaner is indeed usefull to have applied?. Thankyou!.
@@casperr3717 yes to all your questions, the mods are well worth it, however the only issue I have is that there is no upgraded speaker for the SP. So for the time being I'm using just a generic replacement speaker since the original blew out with the Amp. Just be careful, and don't go over half volume without an upgraded speaker. But even at half it's way louder that before.
I think this is pretty amazing! I do however have some suggestions. Would it be possible / probable to have this be a "configurable" modification in a sense? Personally, I'm not entirely sure I'd want or need bluetooth or the 3.5mm headphone jack or even wireless charging. Having the 3A USB-C charging and the 4500 mAh battery however... now that's darn sweet! Nearly 20 hours at full brightness should likely mean something like 24 or 25 hours at standard brightness levels? So I guess the point is... I don't know how much it would be possible to offer a version that only has the USB-C Charging and beefy battery. It might not be practicle in a sense of... would it make the design significantly smaller or is the bulk the battery and the extra space beyond the battery be already necessary because of the PCB? Would it be possible to disable bluetooth? I know that's a battery hog on my Galaxy Note 20.... being able to turn it off or disable it somehow should allow even that much more battery life for those who might not use bluetooth. Pretty cool though! I love the Gameboy Advance platform, and this is a sweet mod!
At the moment multiple configuration is probably not possible. Although if this mod is popular enough, we may be able to do it in the future. We are looking at ways to potentially disable Bluetooth so that it’s not on at the same time 😁
i will never understand the bluetooth audio on everything craze, never made sense to me for gaming. otherwise, super awesome kit! the USB C charging is the best part :) hope to pick one up when its released!
I’m not so bothered by the audio stuff but it would be cool to have personally I’m pumped for the charging mods and the battery I mean almost 20 hours of battery and usb c will absolutely be backing this on kickstarter
definitely backing this! and happy your going the extra mile for the better Case! I think you can go a step further an sell full shells (like a bright Red) As always your videos a great, insert Futruama take my money meme here! - while not a deal breaker, if your final supports air pods, and maybe even cuts down on latency, it would be great!
Thank you Ernest! Really appreciate the support 🙏. We are thinking about full shells, but it will come down to cost. We’ll definitely be looking into this 😁. Yep, latency and airpods support is something we hope to address as well
Yoooo this is the one I've been waiting for! All the improvements in the design are awesome! I will absolutely support you guys on Kickstarter when the time comes! Quick question, will the power cleaner mod still work with this mod? Would it still be something you recommend?
Thank you Lake Parker! Yes, the clean power mods from Helder should still work with this mod. That is a great questions which I’ll try to address the next time I make an update video. Cheers 😁
ok one thing to point out i would use the same battery but i will install a raspberry pi zero or a banana pi zero in the bottom part than use a AV in cartiage so i can use it as a small powerful emulation and yes that also means i will install a controller board to the current gba buttons work with both ways
I don't know if this message will be viewed by you but I have 3 questions: 1: can we connect a bluetooth controller 2: will in the future there be an HDMI port to play on the TV 3 : are all these improvements compatible with the EZ-FLASH
Imagine slapping one of those adapters on this that allows you to switch between 3 different games!!! I don't remember what it's called or how to properly describe it. But as a kid I had this adapter that would connect via the game slot and would allow you to carry/switch between your 3 favorite games! One game on both the left and right side as well as the top! I think it also provided better battery life 🤔 While also making it thicc and better to grip! I LOVED IT Look it up, see if it would fit. Show us the SUPER THICC BOY
I'm going to be honest here, I actually outright hate the implementation of this mod. The ports don't look cohesively placed and the added size is too bulky. To me it makes more sense to replace the existing charge port with USB-C and add the headphone jack beside the cartridge slot. Hell, it's possible to allow heaphones via USB-C on the SP for an even cleaner look. While I'm not inherently against increasing the size of the SP the battery size is in excess of what is needed. There are (optimally) only 16 waking hours in the day, at which point the device can be put on the charge. Anything longer is just excess size and weight. The alterations mentioned above combined with a smaller battery, would be a much better size to functionality trade off IMO.
This looks somewhat uncomfortable. Maybe it's more comfortable than a normal SP, can't tell yet. But I would pay $20 for a plastic add on that would make the thiccboi more ergonomic. Please consider it, since the add on might require modifications to the case. Also don't forget about people living in Europe, I think you can partner with console modding shops that are based here. The LEDs look very bright too, but as you said, this isn't the final product yet. Congratulations for the progress, looks promising! Can't wait for the Kickstarter.
Thank you for your content, just discovering your channel and this project is really interesting, I'm looking forward to be able to purchase a kit ! I have a question GBA focused if you or someone else is able to answer, I prepped a GBA board for a consolizer kit, but changed my mind at the last minute for unrelated reasons, in any case, my board is now missing a few components, and I would like to repurpose it as a handheld again. My problem is that I'm missing the clock now, how could I fix this? Is there a way to buy them as parts (I couldn't find it) or is my only choice to buy an overclock mod and set it as "standard" speed? Thanks !
