Thank you! I try to make all my videos about the car, and if a guest is involved, about them too. Glad you like what I'm going for, thanks for watching!
Large, older cars definitely seem to command more respect than a compact vintage car. People give my E24 6 series quite a bit of room on the road. Great review.
The R on the fuel gauge on the empty side is for reserve, not refill. I enjoyed the test drive and the Inca (orange) paint colour. Keep us posted on the progress with the final interior bits.
Thanks so much Brandon! I'm trying to do just that. Before the m3 I'm doing a Durango with all the options and a 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata, hopefully I can provide a good laugh in those videos as well. Thanks for the support bud!
New subscriber here..Love the quality of your content mate really different to most other car channels. Keep doing you, watching your vids is truly a breathe of fresh air.
Kinda sucks that less interesting channels have more subscribers than yours. Your work is amazing, I just hope youtube recognizes it and pushes your content up. That idiot at the end should have gotten a ticket.
Thanks Shawn! It's the watch time that gets me, and the videos i don't expect to do well do better than i expect. Either way, i'll just keep making videos and see what happens. Oh and there's a "Do not enter" sign, two "One way" signs, and the fact that every car on the street is facing the opposite way, but clearly, those aren't enough visual indicators for some people. As always, thanks for staying till the end, much appreciated!
I've owned three Tiis, my very first car in fact was a Verona '73 I bought in 1983 for $6000, my mom got wrecked in it in 1989 (not her fault). I had a rusty white '72 from 1986 to 88, fastest of the three and it was stock, then another '73I bought in 1990 and restored from a pretty badly rusted daily driver to a nearly show-worthy car I drove for ten years until a lady parked in my trunk. At that time I was barely able to make my mortgage and couldn't afford to fix it, so it moved on to someone who could. Now, these cars in unmodified good condition are getting really expensive.
When sold new in the UK, these 2002 series cars were criticised for issues with high risk oversteer characteristics in their roadholding, one car magazine writer summarised the car as "I never felt safe" when cornering in the tii
I had a yellow 76 tii in 1993 and didn't wear a dumb mask:) Great car. I also had another beauty a Fiat Mirafiori Sport in bright orange. Lots of fun! But my current TT is a lot faster.
It was the height of Covid so we were being cautious, like it would matter in that small of a car anyways. Awesome car though, definitely something I'd like to pick up if I ever get the chance.
Well I didn't get sick for two years wearing a mask so it didn't do nothing, regardless of Covid. Either way, the owner felt more comfortable with a mask so I obliged. Glad that's over.
Everywhere I read about it, it was referenced as "the Kugelfischer" fuel injection system, which is why I referenced it as such. I'd compare it to the heimlich maneuver, but to your point, it isn't "a" heimlich maneuver.
I'm seeing different numbers everywhere. From 120, 125, 128 and 130. Obviously I don't have the owners manual on hand so I'll just take your word for it.
I take it you are not looking at an Owners Manual for a tii? Power is/was 128bhp/130 PS(DIN). It can be found on line in many places. Owned my 75 tii since 1980.....
Nice to see a well-loved survivor, even if it's not fully put together quite yet. John is definitely on the right track with that one. Looking forward to seeing the upcoming review of the E30 M3!
He's a purist for sure and he does most to all the work himself where he can. I respect his direction when it comes to restoring a car, not really caring about it too much visually since he wants to make a car for driving, not just to look at. Hoping to record the E30 this weekend, I'm so excited man, it's like a video game come to life for me.
Thank you! I try to share what I find the most interesting and what made me go, "oh wow, I didn't know that." Happy to hear you appreciate my content. Thanks Dennis!
Huge 02 fan! Appreciate this video. I've never had a car that I enjoyed more. It would corner like a go-cart, perform better the more you pushed it, had an amazing glasshouse; I could see everything and the confidence driving it was unmatched because I could feel the road so precisely. I even miss the smell of gasoline and vinyl. I miss the crunch the seat would make because of the old horsehair cushioning. I've had newer, faster cars but I feel more separated from the road; just not the same.
I told you, wildly uneven upload intervals 😜 Thanks, glad you liked it. Been checking out your channel too, i'm liking the progress you're making. Keep it up buddy, stay ripped!
Haha, when he told me he had a 2002, my response was "a 2002 what?" He said "a 73 2002", I was then more confused. I've always been a fan of BMW's, but this gave me a greater appreciation for them for sure.
Nice video! I'm thinking of buying one of these Bimmer's so that's how I found your vid. What I liked the most was the easy going back and forth you had with the owner. Well done. 👍
Thanks so much for watching. John is a great guy, really fun to talk to about all of his cars. You won't be let down if you pick one up, it's such a great mechanical drive, granted his did have some modifications to make it so. I hope you find what you're looking for!
The seats are from a 320is I believe as well, I forgot to mention that in the video. Glad to hear you liked the car and the video, thanks for checking it out!
Glad you enjoyed the video! The 2002 had such a go-kart fun feeling to it. Along with that real mechanical feeling of control, I absolutely loved it. My 93 Integra is the closest thing I have to that but definitely not nearly the same. Go find another one and live the dream again bud!
@@Altek1 My Dad blew the engine up around the time I was 5-6 years old, so around 1994. I remember it was a gross gold. My strongest memories of it are literally it being loaded up and towed away for the very last time. He has an unbroken record of blowing up every car in his possession. Including a MK1 Opel Manta and a few Mini 1275GTs, a Celica, a few Suzuki 4x4s and a heap of commercial vans.
Haha that's almost a skill at the rate he's going. It's hard to imagine someone buying an ugly color from a showroom. Sure, second hand you have little choice, but your parents chose gross gold. In their defense, it was probably a sweet color for the time period. If I ever need an engine destroyed, I'll be sure to call your father 😁
I miss mine. I had the same car minus the rally lights and the back seat. You could bark 3rd gear in that thing. It took me forever to get used to my next car always turning on the wipers when I wanted to turn.
@@Altek1 You are referring to the "snorkel". The air intake on the standard 2002 connected to it. You will find that any 02 that has a new front will sport a snorkel. The tii fronts are literally impossible to find and are probably NLA. My tii sports a snorkel on the front panel that was replaced around 98 when it had a reasonably serious rebuild. Go to a dealer and order a new front and it will no doubt have a snorkel. I doubt any dealer these days would think there was a difference between a carb 02 and a tii. Those that did have all retired!
