And that flag and that parole were actually disapproved by Makhno. The bolsheviks used that picture of the soldiers and that flag to defame the Black Army and to accuse them of pogroms against jews. In an article in 1927 Makhno commented the picture with: "NO es una bandera 'majnovista' y ellos son soldados 'petliuristas'." - "It is NOT a 'Majnovista' flag and they are 'petliurist' soldiers." Refering to the soldiers of Symon Petliura, the first president of the Ukrainian People's Republic. To be fair, the Ukrainian People's Republic under Petliura had full rights for Jewish people, but his militia will later commit multiple pogroms against Jewish people and he will try to stop it, but he will fail, so his soldiers killed a lot of people against his order.
Howdy, here is a rhymed translation for the first song - "Anarchy-mother" (Based on a poem by Nestor Makhno. The chorus likely added later by more contemporary author(s) Horses tear through miles of steppes, Freedom is most sweet to us. Through the sight of my machine gun I seek foes in the dust, (Chorus) To Anarchy-mother all sons are beloved, Our Anarchy-mother - strong and just. With shower of lead embracing the foes, Our Anarchy-mother is for us! With my fire, like with dagger, Cut them down as they come close. Nothing burdens me in battles No regret, and no remorse, To Anarchy-mother all sons are beloved, Our Anarchy-mother - strong and just. With shower of lead embracing the foes, Our Anarchy-mother is for us! - Just rejoicing at the smashing Power of my iron friend. Of all enemies before me Only dead ones I can stand. To Anarchy-mother all sons are beloved, Our Anarchy-mother - strong and just. With shower of lead embracing the foes, Our Anarchy-mother is for us!

I can offer a translation for the "Song of Liberty" at 23:53 ("Дума про волю" - Duma pro voliu, literally - "A thought about freedom". Duma ("thought") is an epic genre of Ukrainian folk song. Please see below Oh, you, bat'ko, our youthful bat'ko! Won't you, bat'ko, come back to your land? As the time of pain Sweeps over Ukraine, Won't you bring us freedom again?” - Oh, you, fellows, my Ukrainian fellows! I was breathing freedom, but I breathe no more, There's no strength to save, For I'm in the grave, For so many years, in the foreign soil. Black is the soil, green is the grass, Blue is the sky, white clouds above us, Yellow's the sun, red is the blood, All mixed together - to end and to start. "Oh, you, bat'ko, bat'ko just and fair, Nothing is the same now as when you were here, Cast off your tombstone, Make our foes be gone, The miracle of freedom is yours to give!” - Oh, you, fellows, you my reckless fellows! Freedom came to those who were fighting for it There’s no magic I wield - People made it real, All I did was hold high the flag for the free. Black is the soil, green is the grass, (etc....) “Oh, you, bat’ko, our forgotten bat’ko! When you are not here, there’s no freedom for us! Must it be our fate - Forever to wait Till we people have our freedom at last?” -Oh, you, fellows, freedom-loving fellows! Who can give you what you already have got? Freedom’s never granted, Freedom’s always conquered - By those who let freedom live in the heart! Black is the soil, green is the grass, Blue is the sky, white clouds above us, Yellow's the sun, red is the blood, All mixed together - to end and to start.

Geras Al-Aqras Assad is a Tankie tho. Kind of like Xi Jinping. As far as being an Arms dealer for terrorists, wouldn't that be the Free Syrian Army, Tahir Al-sham, and Turkey?
Stalin wasn't a communist, he made the USSR much more state capitalist than any form of communism. Not trying to undermine all the good stuff he did, but he never worked toward communism.
The ba'athists are not socialists in the same vein as Xi Jinping at all... Ba'athists are "Arab socialists" which does not inherently insinuate Marxism. "Arab socialism" is opposed to confiscation of private property (nationalization) for instance, and instead focuses on unifying the Arab world and creating social progress and secularization. Vanguardism is a part of the ideology, but that's more of a way to achieve power and maintain it than how to run a state.

Hate to advertise, however it could be for the better of the movement I'm founding... We're starting a new movement in Alberta, Canada, which advocates anarchism and a sort of self-governing. We strongly urge people organize themselves within collectives and groups that serve different interests. One important type of group is the militia, of which I personally suggest anyone wanting to defend the interests of the people to join a militia. I have one that I lead (similarly to how Nestor Makhno led his own militia) that follows what I believe in: freedom of self-expression and identity, freedom in armament/situations training of the population, and world freedom against tyranny and oppression) - called the Freedom Frontline. I do only want people that are willing to die for the people's best interest (which I too am willing to do), and will be knighting members myself. If it's not something for you, there are always other militias and the ability to create your own. As the movement grows, eventually we'll be able to start extracting people from other countries should they have no way of their own to come aid, and hopefully in the future we should expand across the globe.

...also want to offer a rhymed translation for the song at 11:22 "Lads, unharness your horses" - said to have been a hit with Makhno's guerrillas. Possible author - Ivan Negrebetsky, a village teacher in the Maknovist-controlled region. (Verses 5 and 6 are not part of the recording) "Lads, unharness all your horses, Rest your heads and get some sleep - And I'll go to cherry garden, Dig a well there, fresh and deep In the midst of cherry garden I was digging on and on, Hoping that the girl comes out For some water at the dawn". So she did, she did come out At the dawn to fill her pail - And the Cossack with his stallion Follows her along the trail. Asked to let him use the pail - She would not give it to him, Offered her a gift of ring then - She would not accept the ring. "Oh, I know, I know, my sweetheart, How I angered you so bad - For last night before the sunset With another girl I met. She is small, and she is pretty, In the blossom of her years, With a sky-blue silken ribbon Waving through her waist-long braids" "Lads, unharness all your horses, Rest your heads and get some sleep - And I'll go to cherry garden, Dig a well there, fresh and deep"
любо, брачи, любо is actually an old Cossack song. About a man who died, ''writing'' a poem after his death, telling his comrades not to cry and keep on fighting for liberty with their ''batka'' (leader).
There are actually two versions of the song. There is the Cossack prayer version and the Cossack recruit version, and the folk version is about the nature of Ukraine and all that is experienced The version you know is the prayer after Adamant Terrick left the soldier in the snow to die, and the soldier was convinced it was his fault and is apologizing to everyone he knows for being a failure.

Yes, sadly the Makhnovist movement was hijacked by the nationalist youth that believed too much in the Soviet propaganda films about Makhno. I may be the last Ukrainian to be a real Makhnovist and that speaks Ukrainian.

I imagine if the Ukraine had Nestor Makhno today they would have an even greater fighting spirit then they have now. Long live Anarcho Communism for the spirit has the might and the fight of soldiers, comrades!
Dude no this war wouldnt exist then because makhno would have destroyed nazis after nazis broke the ceasefires(if he would make ceasefires with the nazis at first) and there would have been a larger support for the USSR, meaning todays russia might still have been the USSR
FYI, Nestor's chaps weren't anarcho-communists specifically, the French and Spanish ones were. Machno's black army didn't really see any difference between communists and monarchists, same old tyrrany either way. Needless to say, before the World War, Machno was like number one bogeyman for Bolsheviks, they hated him almost as much as monarchists. But Nestor would be proud of us today nonetheless! Communist or not, Russians always the same.
@@BIGESTblade That's not true at all. Makhno and various Black army members very specifically took influence from Peter Kropotkin's works and the remnants after the war would go on to draft up platformism which went on to influence modern anarcho communist organizations such as Revdia which is currently active in Ukraine fighting the Russian invasion. You can go read Makhno's correspondence with Malatesta on the anarchistlibrary where he very explicitly refers to himself as a communist anarchist.
@@michealruth8925 So? If someone gets influenced by the works of Aristotle that means they are a classical philosopher? Nestor didn't care weather it was communism or capitalism, he was a soldier. He was fighting a war and allowed other people in his controlled territory to think about how they want to conduct business. Kind of goes against whole anarchist idea to try and enforce some arbitrary *better model of economy, doesn't it?
anarchy mama eh, back in the 18th century, philosophers speculated that a century would pass, two centuries and the same human evolution would begin and anarchy would inevitably come, now 2 centuries have passed, and anarchists are still conducting the same dialogues about evolution, apparently most people are not ready to solve their own problems and be a developed civil society.
I liked the set. However, just for the record: not all of the songs are Anarchist or Communist, not all of them are Ukrainian or even in the Ukrainian language (some are in Russian, some are Ukrainian translations of well known Russian songs), some do not belong to the time related to then content (they are contemporary lamentations about the past). So, good but not properly labeled and not really authentic.

To paraphrase Noam Chomsky: Power, whether it be over the individual or the collective, is immediately illegitimate unless proven otherwise. Thusly the burden of proof is always on they who claim any sort of authority is legitimate, failure to provide means the dismantling of the structure must be carried out.
The fourth song unharness your horses is the traditional way of singing it not the Machno 1, 2,3 is picking grapes that was added because alot of Machno infantry had trouble telling the difference of left and right its true even under the Tsars forced infantry to tie hay and straw so Machno used numbers instead.
