Nowadays you never have fathers and sons play at the same time, much less have them hit back to back home runs. Of all of these, that may be the most unreplicable (other than the 30-3 game, but that’s different).

@@eddyvideostar The only reason I mentioned the 30 run game is that it's only been done once since 1900, so technically it's as rare (both have only happened once), but you're right, the Griffeys' feat is truly remarkable. At the time, Sr. was 40 and Jr. was 20.

Forget the save part, the fact that there was a 30-3 game is 1 in a million
@6thwilbury2331
@6thwilbury2331 5 лет назад
Yeah, this is what I was thinking. In fact, if you DO have a 30-3 game there's a good chance of having a save because you might as well save the bullpen arms and let one guy finish out.
@jj9749

Why is 30-3 one in a million. If one side gets 30 home runs and the other gets 3? And what are they saving - embarrassment?

@@jj9749 Mitchell's correct point is that the mere existence of a 30-3 game is the true longshot here. Crediting a save in such a game is not.
@6thwilbury2331
@6thwilbury2331 5 лет назад
@@jj9749 Also, for what it's worth, Mitchell is exaggerating when he says "one in a million," as is the video creator with "one in a billion." They're just saying it's a longshot. Figure this: since 1900, there have been 18 instances when a team scored 25 or more runs, and only one - the Texas-Baltimore matchup shown - in which a team reached 30. In that span, there have been 191,079 total major league games. A 30-game performance has happened once. So yeah, baseball would be way ahead of expectation if a 30-run game was truly a 1:1,000,000 proposition.

If a relief pitcher enters the game with the lead and throws at least 3 innings to end the game and on the winning team then regardless of the margin of victory the pitcher receives a save.
