Once you've done that job for awhile, all you have to do is think about the smell and it returns to haunt your nostrals. Even 20 yrs later. You are appreciated bud!

Would be fairly difficult to put a channel in as you would need a fairly deep channel to hold the water so it doesnt just flow over the opposite side or a very wide channel. My advice would be buy an older trip style agitator as very easy to hook on and off (should be able to buy them fairly cheap) one that you can put a pipe onto the top of it for transferring the slurry
@rosemarymurphy5767

You could get a small grant to get a agitator mixes the slurry so it will spread through the hoses a lot better

Tom you could think about buying an agitator for a slatted tank. It would make the job of moving the slurry across alot easier and it would mix the water and the thick stuff. Youd get a second hand one cheap enough. Great video as usual.

Like what was said already, let some of the watery stuff back in near the end to aggitate it a bit, also when you filling tank and not sure if its sucking or not, close down handle fast,if pipe gives a jerk its sucking ,the more violent the jerk,the better it's sucking, just don't forget to open it again and also you get used to the sound of vacuum pump,and know when its labouring a bit, which indicates it could be stuck on ground .

Hey tom, quick tip to mix up the lumpy stuff on the bottom of the tank! After you take the first 2 or 3 loads, fill the tanker and let it empty back down the pipe again and this will mix up the lumps on the bottom so it will be easier to suck up! Jobs a goodin :)

It might be a good idea to fit a "T" piece between pump and tank, especially on that nice new tanker you are getting. Then get some extra hose so you can just pump straight from first pit into the second pit. Digging a new channel between pits would be an expensive and rather disruptive job as it would have to be pretty deep.
@TomPembertonFarmLife

When you say a “T piece” I can’t picture it? 🙈 What do you mean ?
@seanmcguigan346
@seanmcguigan346 4 года назад
@@TomPembertonFarmLife Tom I don't think that would work seeing as you have a vacuum tanker a d you need to change over your pump from fill to empty. Only way to do that is with a mixer pump that has a top fill facility on it, then you could put a hose on the top of it and work away.

@howdairy7592

It’s not a cheap option, however using a tractor mounted slurry pump would be easier. You can just pipe it into the main pit and let it run while doing yard work. You can also let the slurry recirculate by putting the outlet back into the side pit 👌🏻

Put a small hole at the bottom of the pipe just above the water line only about 8mm hole should do. You should find with it sucking a bit of air it will load quicker with it being so think.

I wonder if you could use a hose on the outlet of the tanker and manage to position it so that you can load and unload without moving the tanker. I know you'd still have to have to manage the tanker between filling and unloading, but it's seems like it would be a great convenience to not have to move hoses and the tractor so many times, and should be a cheaper solution than digging that trench.
