Many thanks, Daniel, you run an excellent channel. In an interview a few months after the match, Larsen said that he had studied the games and knew where he had gone wrong, and he was now the best player in the world. An awesome player, brimming with confidence and optimism. I love Polugayevsky's account of his adjourned game with Larsen at Le Havre in 1966, particularly his comment on Larsen's 66th move (Grandmaster Preparation, P109).

Thanks a lot for this outstanding series Daniel. It is always a great pleasure watching your elaborate videos. I am curious about the clash between Tigran Petrosian aka boa constrictor and the chess machine. Your channel is a tremendous treasure.

I wouldn't say Fischer "demolished" Taimanov - yes, he beat him 6-0, but Fischer said they were some of the most difficult games he'd played. Taimanov put up a good fight. I like that after the match, Mark Taimanov told Fischer - "Well, I still have my music". Pretty sure he knew what the Soviet government was going to do to him. Great video again, as always.

I believe this was a 10 game match. Larsen was trailing 5-0 and a draw would lose the match. Therefore, it is quite understandable why Larsen did not force a draw when he had the opportunity and instead continued to play for the win.

Stunning coverage. This is chess History. Petrosian-Fischer is what I'm really looking forward to. This clash of titans, Fischer on his Great Mission, Petrosian out for revenge against Spassky. Thank you GM King.

The FIDE Chess channel published a video on April 19th, 2024 titled "If you could play against any historical player, who would it be?" The editing is a little silly at times but the players from the candidates tournament answered the question. Check it out

I was really expecting Larsen to win at least one of these. Fischer was so dominant that the lack of real competition is a bit disappointing.

I believe this was a ten game match so if Larsen wanted to stay in he had to chain together 5 wins hence the play style this game. Nevertheless a superb performance by Fischer with superb commentary :)

1:38 move 7.Na3 is not best. Best is actually 7.Nc3
@PowerPlayChess
@PowerPlayChess 3 года назад
The problem with playing 7 Nc3 is that it is difficult for White to deal with the knight on d4 satisfactorily. Like Larsen, in this particular position, I prefer 7 Na3.
@jbennett1618
@jbennett1618 3 года назад
@@PowerPlayChess I play N on f3 captures d4, Then Retreat my other N back to b1, then play c4, and hope that after d4x ep on c3 and b-pawn takes on c3 I have move another flank pawn towards the center at the loss of a tempo yes

@@jbennett1618 Time is an important factor in the opening...
@jbennett1618
@jbennett1618 2 года назад
@@PowerPlayChess Well its hard to say when the knight would land on d4, and in the meantime specifically unique positions can result. 7.Bd2 is another possibility sacrificing the exchange and the b2 pawn (intending after 7...Bxb2 for 8.Nc3!) for a position for white that gains tempii in the opening stage of the game!

The sniper bishop wins the game

Very interesting. First point: Larsen's excuses are embarrassing. Second point: Larsen humiliation extended by his his insistence he be No. 1 in the worlds -vs- USSR match. Third he saw how the Taimanov match went. This last point is exacerbated by the match up to then; especially the first game: Larsen played so well that he would beat any player in the history of chess - but his pieces were swept for the board. Dude! Understand! Fischer is better than you. You have had it proved after one game. You have had it proved after five games. Take a draw. Take a draw. Lose 5.5 to 0.5 or 5.0 to 1.0 Do you really want to go down as another Taimanov? Are you that stupid? Do you think you can lose five - FIVE - games and pull back the match? The question is - how stupid are you? (1) Not stupid at all (just got beaten by a better player) or (2) I think I can beat a player who just outplayed me for the last five games? In my opinion Larsen wins the crown for the stupidest chess player of all time.
@svendolepoulsen8734
@svendolepoulsen8734 5 лет назад
Then its clear, that you have no understanding nor knowledge whatsoever about Larsen. And by the way: he was actually a very, very intelligent man.
