Three years later, a follow up to the One Man Antenna Mast series. A self made antenna mast for tight spaces, requiring only one person to raise or lower the antenna.
I don’t know why this was set to private years ago, but it certainly doesn’t reveal any relevant information now.

Great build, that 4mm cable should more than do the business.

Hi Brek Have just purchased an Comet H44 and I'm following your method almost exactly for the install -n my exposed garden. I'd be real grateful if you could share the model and make of that pulley you have installed so i can order one just like it. Cheers

Hi Mark, It’s all still good. There was a huge difference getting it higher than the original video, and the feed point is still below 1/4 wavelength from the ground for 40m. Are you Australian? Everything but the tube was from Bunnings or Masters (whichever). I’m not sure if I said it, but it definitely wants a stronger tube than the original video where I did give inner & outer diameters. I’ll try to have a quick look online for the pulley now. It’s nothing special.

I’m pretty sure it was this, using the two inline mounting holes, so it sits sideways. The wire cable used to raise comes down slightly to the side. Don’t forget to cut that notch in the tube that slides up & down the mast. If it is allowed to sway from side to side, it fatigues the wire cable, and would eventually snap. www.bunnings.com.au/zenith-50mm-zinc-plated-fixed-pulley-1-pack_p4220773

Good video Brek. That has been a long project but it has been fun to see the progress and improvements. How are the signals on that antenna ? Are you happy with it's performance and coverage ? In particular, how does 40m perform on it ? Jamie VK2YCJ

Hi Jamie :) About as good as can be expected. Largely tested at night by trying to key various SDRs around the world. Doing much more with 2m now though, since the APRS thing.
