I really like the simplicity of your setup. It’s absolutely clean and nice looking. Personally I opted for a Lenovo ThinkVision Creator Extreme which also has 27” @4k60Hz as well as plenty of Inputs, a KVM Switch and even certified VESA HDR1000 support. I did a lot of research to find it but I am really happy to own it now. I bought it used on eBay with Rest guarantee and saved a lot of money cause this thing can even cost more than the Studio Display. I even made a video about it showing it’s benefits and why I purchased it over the Studio Display. Using an additional HDMI 5 Port Switch I am now able to connect my Mac Studio, my Gaming Pc (which is a Mac Pro 5.1 running Win 11 😅), PS5, Switch, the WiiU and the Xbox Series X. I route every console as well as the Mac Pro through the HDMI Switch to my Elgato HD60S+ and than to one of the two HDMI ports, using the second one for the Mac Studio. I am now able to play, capture and stream all those devices using the Mac Studio and OBS Studio which is natively supported since the end of 2022 and it works fine for me since I started streaming in July 2022. I really just need to switch the input of the display between HDMI 1 and 2 and use the remote of the HDMI Switch to connect the right gaming device.

Right on! The lack of flexibility for inputs is what is keeping me from getting the studio display. I am fully invested into the apple ecosystem with an iPad Pro, M1 Mac mini and a Switch with the LG 34UM69G-B 34. Thinking of upgrading to the LG 5k 2k which I heard allows for slit screen multiple inputs.

Drawing lots of inspiration from your content. Also, for anyone who wants a multi use gaming monitor at a cheaper price point, the Dell 27" Gaming is excellent. It's not 4k, but it has DP x1 and HDMI x2 at $300

Im gonna do this with Windows 10 and Tab S8 Ultra. Second Screen is fantastic, and so is DEX. Having the Tab S8 Ultra Vertical Second screen is just perfect. Feels like it was made for this. Oh, and its also become my backup Webcam.

having a mouse & keyboard with different Bluetooth profiles is probably so helpful!!! love that. I currently just have the mac stuff and I use it with my PC but I plug it in to make it work with my pc

I got the Samsung 49’ super ultra wide i use it as 2 27’ monitors side by side I’m used to having 2 monitors i just don’t like the extra wires all over the place but i still have that for other reasons but for now it works

really dig the setup, using the same monitor! are you using it scaled by any chance? The only thing I find kind of annoying is that when scaling it sometimes causes lag, as the gpu is working extra hard. I think its a MacOS issue though.

I have the M1 Max Studio. 24 core video , 32 Gig Ram and the 1TB SSD. I have the earlier 4K Dell 27" Ultrasharp U2718Q 27-Inch 4K IPS Monitor. It comes with hdmi, display port and mini display port inputs. I use a 3 input 4K hdmi switch to input the HDMI input. I have a high end Sony UPBX700 Ultra HD player, my Directv system and the HDMI output of the Studio connected to the HDMI input as backup. I use a thunderbolt to DP cable to connect as a primary input from my studio and my 7700K/RTX 2060 is connected to the mini DP input. I have 34 Tera Bytes of external HD connected to the Studio's Thunderbolt inputs including a Sabrent dual NVMe drive running RAID 0. The special order took two weeks after order from China. There isn't a day that goes by that my appreciation for the Mac Studio M1 Max doesn't increase. I upgraded from an I7 mac mini 2014 with 16GB ram and a 1TB TeamGroup M.2 NVMe drive. I've been waiting for this Studio since my first PC back in 1986. As fast as I can click my mouse programs open and it never gets hot. I love it.

Interesting my keyboard and mouse don't do that. I was thinking of trying "UGREEN 4 Port USB 3.0 Switch Box 2" I'm not sure if there are better other options.

The lightning on my monitor is even more sketchy. I have the strip near the bottom then taped paper as a bounce card behind it to bounce the light onto my keyboard from behind my monitor. I have the LED strip connected to an alexa compatible usb switch

How has the sound from the Mac Studio been, now that you have been using it for a bit of time now? I'm one of the ones who returned theirs due to the metallic whine from he unit I had, and curious to know if people who had no issues at the start have noticed any difference at all now?

Mine's still silent luckily. If I put my ear up to it I can hear the fan spinning and a very slight sound but sitting at the desk it's silent!

In my new office set up I have the new mac mini - mid range macbook air Ipad pro LG ultrafine monitors x 2 Blue tooth logitech keyboard and mouse Set up: Mac mini will be plugged into the LG. monitors.... Mabook air will be on a stand on the desk Ipad also on a bracket Question: is it possible ( in the pc world it is a kvm switch) to switch the main monitor displays to mac mini and then change to macbook air source? and how to connect all 3 devices to the external bluetooth keyboard and mice - and toggle? and if the macbook air or ipad is going to be used as a separate monitor - how do mange that too? Thanks !

Just through a USB-C cable, and yep pretty much btu if you want the best image you'll want an apple studio display

Thanks for this! How come you moved over to FCPX from premiere? I’ve recently switched from windows+android to all apple, but have stuck with adobe for now, interested to hear your reasoning and also your thoughts on FCPX, hows the change been?

@@mrstephenwells There is no audio mixer and the general audio controls are terrible. Colour grading is also much worse, Lumiteri colour on premiere is so much better!

I have a similar setup, but ran my HDMI cables under my desk to an HDMI switch. It lets me select my source from a hidden button then once hdmi cable runs from the switch to my monitor. Just an idea.

I used the NEWCARE branded one off Amazon and it’s been fine, but I’d guess as long as they’re unpowered, simple, and work with 4k 60hz, you’ll be okay.

I cannot play first person shooters, they give me motion sickness. I was hyped about over watch until i found out I couldn’t play it. Lucky me, I tried it at a friends before I bought it. That would have been money down the drain. Would a hub with a HDMI work with a USB port to go to the display? Thought I would ask.

get rid of that display port cable with locking tabs. once had a cable that wouldn't unlock, had to break it to remove the cable. it was a nightmare.
