One more body retrieved from Chongwe sand mine accident

Another body has been retrieved at a sand mine in Mwashinango village in Chongwe District.
This brings the number of the bodies retrieved at the mine to nine.
And, the Government has with immediate effect banned all illegal sand mining activities in Chongwe.
Lusaka Province Minister SHEAL MULYATA has directed the Chongwe Council to stop illegal mining activities in the District.
Ms MULYATA says the government will mourn with the bereaved families who lost their loved ones at the mine.
The Lusaka Province Minister said this when she visited the accident scene.
And, Ms MULYATA said the government is saddened with the death of the nine people at the sand mine.
Meanwhile, Village Head woman Mwashinango, SUSAN MULIMBIKA, said it has been difficult to stop people from illegal sand mining because some people conduct the activities at night.
Head Woman MULIMBIKA has appealed to the government to help secure the area to avoid further accidents.
