i know this is a old video But i Just Stumbled across it & It Looks Really Cool ! An Almost be fun to run all day..lol. The Best Advice i have Ever Heard Was THREE TYPES OF PEOPLE TO STAY AWAY FROM.... THE UNEXCITED, THE UNGRATEFUL, & THE UNINSPIRED ,Unpassionate An I Gota Say This Dude Had The Excitement & Passion ..Love To See That in people ! !
Very cool innovations! I’m having a hard time justifying 60k for the unit though. I can fill a wheel barrow with 5 scoops using my long handled snow shovel quick. Now rock is a different story.
Mulch Mate Thanks for the response! That’s much more reasonable then I thought. I did a Google search and must be looking at a different unit or the blower.
I have something designed for the little guy but still working on fabricating the prototype. I took 2-3 pieces of different equipment and put them together. Something to scoop, dump, spread, roll, and grade. I could see it mass produced in the $3500-$5000 range. Like a mini it wouldnt do any one task great but would be able to do multiple task and affordable. It couldnt compete with this on volume but you wouldnt have to push a wheelbarrow.
I have no idea how I got here. I work in sales, not landscaping. But that seems to be a damn good product and piece of equipment, and it was presented better on an phone video than half the product videos I need to watch from major manufacturers for my job
Can't believe how cool this is! I just started a landscaping company & with so much competition, This is exactly what I need to take my company too the next level!
That is cool. Almost makes mulch fun I bet, keeps the guys from being frustrated with the most annoying part of mulch which is loading the wheelbarrow.
They should have a sling out treadmill type apparatus. That is stored under the back end.....then swings around to the passenger side. Plug it in then you have an extra , what 6 feet or more. If your not about to get it where you want it a remote on the end that's an easy 6ft or so your guys don't have to walk or if what what ever reason you want it to go over a retaining wall or something.
Damn! You're all over the place. We're down here on the shore, salisbury, MD, and im glad for your smartass "im in maryland what do you expect" comment. We're gonna go check these guys out before the next season now lol.
Did something almost the same as this unit except we had a forage box on a Freightliner tandem axle chassis with approximately 20 yards of mulch ...cut handling in half! Definitely a superior design but same concept
They've put this on a trailer which makes sense, because the truck isn't tied up. And now they've developed bin setups to distribute with ride-on mowers. Good ideas!
Wow! Look at that thing go. Talking about cutting you’re time in half. Great product, can’t wait to see mulch mate out here putting some work in. Topping it off with American Made!!!!
Pretty amazing. Some people will bitch about paying $60K but it is a commercial unit. Funny how they won't bitch about paying that for a pickup with a few options. If I was in the business of moving mulch or landscaping, I would buy one. The big guy is an excellent salesman.
Be nice if they made like a mini version like a DS500. As this looks like it says DS1000. Something that could go on smaller trucks. Also I dont see how the lil canvas flap can hold in the material, I didnt see how he attached it. 🤔
Wow. Well my dreams have been crushed. Ive been working on this exact product for the last 3 months and these guys beat me to it. Im gonna reach out to them. Ive got some impovements for then.
I was completely blown away and I LOVE this thing... However, we would only use it for residential mulch jobs and it looks like it will be a little pricey to replace one guy with one $30 pitch fork. Besides, we can back the truck up a driveway, drop whichever side/gate and have access to 15 yards from all 3 sides of the truck, not just the one corner. On our tight space residential jobs that requires precise wheelbarrows, access and precision is more important than volume and the bottleneck is rarely at the truck for us. This is truly an awesome product though and I love it for rock/dirt/other stuff so I hope they sell a ton of these.
Thank you for the kind words. We did a 10 yard test with one of the biggest landscape companies in the world and said the same things you said unit they saw it. It spend their entire crew up by 70% they said and they used 30% less mulch. They were very happy.
Who cares if you only have access to one corner. That one corner shoots the material right into your wheelbarrow there's no need for multiple access points.
One safety issue I can see immediately. Guy has to stand in the bed and pull that tarp out with those rollers of death spinning. A way to disengage those when pulling out the tarp would definitely be a must
Mulch Mate thank you for your reply. That's amazing to hear that it's even better than demonstrated here. Was that a feature on this prototype? Does it automatically disengage when reversing the tarp in the production model?
I'll run my system against the mulch mate system anytime, compact loader & dump truck scooping right out of dump truck and transporting to dump spots against the mulch mate machine, 1 guy operating loader can transport the same amount of 4 guys can with wheelbarrows, benefit - no pay out of pocket for wages for 4 employees pushing wheelbarrow. Been using this system longer than much mate has been in business and its super quick...
I like the mulch mate set up I wonder do they do a small lift conveyer to fill taller setups like the toro mulch force that us higher up and it doesn't look like it will fit underneath!!
I think there are smaller options out there that probably make more sense for most people. But I bet big companies would love this. And it seems amazingly well built. I wonder if they will make a smaller one for 1500/2500 trucks. Harbor freight makes some sort of tarp loading system that I have seen mixed reviews on plus its a hand crank lol.
How does this beat or comapre a bulk mulch drop with a Ventrac and power bucket? I believe the power bucket can hold 9 cubic feet and with extensions 11 cubic feet.
He should weld on fork slots under the back rear section for easy removal when needed. That way it won’t slide off the forks, and easier to slide forks under it when you put it back on.
Mulch Mate replaces the doors on the back of your truck and you don't need to dump the truck. Its has tarring system that pulls the mulch into mulch mate. The ds1000 is rated for 10 yards
Considering, the amount of time it would take to use a lil 453 or S70 to spread this(closest comparison I can make as far as capacity on unit vs wheel barrow)...I'd say this is pretty quick...but,then it also boils down to employee costs,vs equipment costs...or what kind of time frame is allotted to complete the job(if it's not under a tight time frame, then goin with a skid and one other employee to spread...If it is an under the gun project,it sometimes is more cost effective for the cost of the extra employees,to get it done and on to the next gig)....Lots of variables and pros and cons in this situation, but definitely a cool unit..not sure about the price tag,but it'd be great for tree guys,if they chip into the bed with a chipper and have the capability of fluffing, separating and spreading all in one shot.. pretty cool stuff man...great vid as always👍
It will fit as long as the bed is correct. The only thing that you may need to do is not fill you truck with too much mulch. You should stay within dot specs
Looks very impressive, longevity is going to be the key here. Price even a ball park was not mentioned. Warranty is going to be key for many spending money on this good idea. I'm not in this business but the all seeing eyes know I have so many landscapers in my area it would make your head spin. Northern Illinois, much more detailed information left out. Could I go to their website yes but I was looking for the information here as that is where I find it. Nice show but it's needing more attention here.
This only solves the problem of loading it into wheelbarrels. You still have to solve the problem of getting it into the actual beds themselves efficiently. Better than doing it by hand
I use to work for a City that we did about 2000 yds of mulch every spring. I wish we had one of those. I might not have screwed up my back so bad already.
Stan when is the second part of the tiltrotator video coming. Very interested in more of your thoughts as I am getting 1 fitted on a 6 ton Takeuchi and my main concern is will it be durable enough to stand up to the day to day rigors of site work.
Mulch Mate sweet, any plans for possibly designing one for dump trailer? I totally imagine this as a back/time saver, and more practical than a bark blower for the smaller companies.
This thing is pretty point when you think about it. Say someone is wanting a load of dump in there drive why the company not has to have a separate truck just for that. I see this a great way to just waste a dump truck there is not point in putting this on your truck. You can very easily move way more mulch by dumping it in a pile and then bring actually care with a tractor and dumping it in placing that you.
I think is very cool machine for fast and large commercial jobs. It will save you 60% time loading the bark into wheelbarrow. But wouldn't work for me and my crew. The investment for such light product. It only takes 4 big scopes of large shovel.
Nice piece of kit. Conveyor belt doesn't wear out? and if so, how much $ to replace it. Love that the model # is named after a dog; hopefully a real dog - not a fear biter. Again, nice piece of kit!!
Awesome!! One idea from me is "have a sensor underneath the output(to pick up something close to mouth eg. wheelbarrow) so that is can automatically fill wheelbarrow. Simple and cheap upgrade?
As a homeowner I prefer to have the mulch blown in rather than having a bunch of guys running around the yard with wheelbarrows. It's a pretty cool machine though.
You sure the guys from Ventrac didn't help design that lol? They are completely different machines but the designers are passionate about making the best out there. Definitely a cool product
Check out Applied Landscapes in Northern California. If you think this is fast... haha you have no idea. They basically shoot the mulch out of a giant hose. Its pretty crazy.
Yeah It's not totally clear to me what void this is trying to fill, companies that put down hundreds of yards have mulch blowers. Is this for spot delivery? Companies near me will deliver it for free after 4 yards. Guess this is just so a guy doesn't have to shovel it into a barrow?
Joe Blow yea the one thing that’s nice is the ability with the rock but I bet those tarps are not gonna last very long if you’re moving any amount rock.
Joe Blow Consider this though: you could use it as a means of loading the blower without shoveling or using a skidsteer if an additional power conveyer was placed under the discharge. That could make the blowers even more efficient and allow companies to lessen the manpower needed even more
The thing with this machine is that it can handle allot more than just mulch. Companies who also handle rocks, gravel, and other heavy duty materials could by a mulch blower and this and still be very efficient.
Hey Stan, can you do a comparison to a mulch blowing system? I been seeing this unit all over the facebook groups and just curious how it would compare to a mulch blowing truck setup. Im currently in the market for a new setup and curious if this might be an option for my business. For example we just bid doing 900 yards of playground mulch for our county school districts, wondering if this would outperform a mulch blower(upfront cost of the units, manpower and wages, equipment maintenance and upkeep, and so on)
