This is overall a good initiative but The Main cause of concerns are :- 1. It'll further deplete the powers of state governments in India of conducting local body elections , which hurt the federal structure of Indian constitution or devolution of powers between center and states. 2. One party dominance for 5 years in whole country & at all levels can not be neglected ( Modi wave 2014) , which might make a government tyrant & gave them authority to change the basic structure of the constitution which is otherwise very hard/impossible process. 3. When one government of state break in mid-term , it'll again cause a havoc like situation and derail the next general elections. 4. India is a diverse country and geographically big with high population pressure , National parties might blur the local issues during the process of same day election which definitely hurt the Local parties with local issues. Every part of India have different set of problems , it is to be seen how all that be managed by local parties and national leaders. ALL THESE THINGS CAN BE MANAGED WITH GOOD GOVERNANCE AND GOOD POLITICAL WILL , THAT WE'LL SEE IN COMING YEARS HOW THIS THINKING OF OUR CURRENT GOVERNMENT WILL BE IMPLEMENTED.
We have solution for that ,, we can conduct elections in the manner MC and Mayer's elections are conducted.... Both are conducted together and a voter has to vote twice on the same day and he may vote to different parties no problem at all
I support one nation 2 election. 1. Loksabha election. 2. Legislative assembly election & local body election. ( 2.5 years after lok sabha elections) If there are elections amid every 2.5 years, then gov never do anything whimsically. And it will decrease election expenses & efforts from what it is today.
I think there should be 1 nation 2 election. One for whole country and other for state because local problems or state problems are different from national problems.
what does state and local problems have to do with merging of voter list?? the people will not even feel the effect of merging. You will still see the same options in your poll bank and your name will appear the same.
I think voters are intelligent enough to decide which parties it is best to vote for, for local, state and national issues. Just because it is held at same time does not mean everyone is going to vote for the same party for all 3 elections.

One Nation one election is definitely a good idea but it ignores practical difficulties like lack of clarity over President's rule for dissolution of state assemblies to synchronise election calender. There will also be lack of emphasis on local/regional issues in voting because according to IDFC report 77% of voters vote for single party as a result there will be more impact of national issue.

I understand politicians use emotions to garner votes, however in India there are elections every now and then. As results there there is always some kind of communal tensions going on, be it Hindu Muslims, left vs right, liberal vs conservative, etc. If we have one nation one elections then most of our communal problems can be solved.

Mam! i think one nation one election compromise the federal structure of our country up to some extent and our constitution is already move towards center and it lower down the dominance of regional parties in state elections . one nation one election going to maintain the one or two party dominance at state level as well . At center level only one or two dominace since independence .
Good initiative, this will really results in saving time & money. In our India🇮🇳 there is always elections going on in some nooks & corner every 6 months.
In One nation one election, local issues of state will be swallowed by national issues. Regional parties will face existential crisis. If there is a wave in favour of one party, that one party will be capable of capturing all representative bodies at three levels which in turn lead to authoritariansm.
@@damandeeps16 yes this one possibility...we need to look out for both pro's and con's....initially we used to have such system but that time only party dominated since it had freedom struggle legacy withit.. as and when the time passes by the regional parties emerged and we shifted to varied times elections...
@@damandeeps16 but look at it from this POV , currently each state conducts its election at different dates and month , this causes the party in the center to not take any decisive action , as it may affect their prospects of victory. And our party in the center[bjp] is constantly eyeing to win election in the other states which happen allyear round. if that's the case then the ruling party would not have any time to solve the real issues fo the country since theyd be focused on winning election all year.
Definitely, Common electoral roll will be useful for greater extent, not only in the view of time saving but also it will create transperant list (avoiding two voter slips for one Voter). One Nation One Election is mandatory for India because for every year atleast two states undergo elections which is a huge burden for ECI and government as well.

Common voters list for all elections is indeed practical But concerns will arise on continuity of elections in sync 1. What if some State assembly / Municipal corporation/ Panchayat is dissolved before completing it's term 2. If electoral turnout is less than 50%, would it be legitimate to represent 100% voter population 3. Are national issues influencing local and regional politics while neglecting local issues ? 4. Will electoral bond be applicable to all levels in new scenario ? 5. Will NOTA be relevant in new scenario ? 6. Should public money be used by ruling parties for electoral campaign at all levels? 7. Can Model code of conduct be given statutory framework with this reform ? 8 .Can we introduce e-voting linked to Aadhar number or NPR register for Digital India ? Looking forward to see this soon
One nation one election is must for the strong governance. It must ensure the growth stability in every part of the country. It reduces the money and time used in election rather that to be used in development.

It is good step but i am concerned for long term if any party get full majority in centre and state and his intention is wrong then he might be misuse our constitution.
Developments will be fast tracked if this policy comes into action that is hypothetical and too far fetched. In India developments only get fast tracked when election gets near. And if govt really wants to save time then they should listen to the citizen's demands and pay attention to the protests.
3rd years में राज्य और छोटे चुनाव होने चाहिए । और 5th years में लोकसभा चुनाव ताकि हमें पता चल सके कौन सी पार्टी ठीक से अपने और जनता के वादों में खरी उतरी है । एक साथ चुनाव जनता को puzzle करेगा । और ठीक से केंद्र और राज्य सरकार के कार्य को नहीं समझ पायेगी। और एक पार्टी ही शासन करेंगी । और कई मंत्री ऐसे ही जीत जायेंगे ।
Everything in this world may have 2 aspects.. Positive one might be , It will save time nd cost Moreover, it can help all the respective govt(CG/SG/or even local govt ) to focus on their work instead of getting distracted coz of elections.. Negative one might be,, Country like India has very high population so it may prove difficult in conducting elections on a single day (but solution may be there by making more polling booths but for this high security is required and again it can raise cost)
Election is just one variable out of many for delayed infrastructure... Solving election aspect is not panacea for infra projects... Respecting the mandate and geographical size of nation it's a daunting task for EC without permanent officials...Hope it will not join ranks with demontization and GST😎
Whatever impact it will have on various Parties/Govt/Opposition, it will certainly have POSTIVE Impact for our Country our Nation - thats what is important. My opinion ONOE- ONE NATION ONE ELECTION should start again and continue going forward, as the TIME & MONEY gets invested during elections. ONOE was conducted in 1952, 1957, 1962 and 1967. Then why not this time and every time going forward.
If it is implemented, there'll be a very high possibilty that the political party that will win the Loksabha Election, will win the subsequent elections too....
I think it's impossible to conduct elections all over the country at a time because if the parliamentary parties or any state assembly party doesn't gets majority what will happen???Do the state wait for next five years???? By combining these two list's she meant , a common election/ simply the election will be held same day for center , state and local bodies. After this move there's no need to maintain a separate State election commission list for local bodies election ( Panchayat and municipality ).The constituencies of elections are different in each strata for example :- when General elections is going on these local bodies like panchayats are included in one big constituency but in panchayat elections they are all separate and the number of voters are less & choose there leader for small area. This move lessen the burden or practically finish the role of state election commission in state and only one election commission have to handle all these work.
You should have include a topic - "trends of voting behaviour " and national party always have an edge in one election. I don’t think elections act as barrier in development.....
And one more thing that should have cared that our Political parties outreach should have been published only by advertising... Not by Rallies and all.. That will be much more time saving and low cost outreach.. There will no disturbance in public..
