Take off those kiosks and containers off major streets and order everyone to paint their buildings with a specific colour and you get a very beautiful African city.
Very interesting video footage. I grew up in the storey building on the right at video time 4:25 to 4:35 house number O.I. 246. When I was a child, the street as I knew it was known as Okyeame Baafour Akoto's area or street. I attended Konadu Yiadom primary school and later to New Bantama Block B. I remember the Apostolic Church very well. It has indeed changed and looks great from the video. I have also noticed that the public toilet and the rubbish dump are gone as well. Wow, but I still love the nostalgic environment. It looks and if I may say, feels the same. Oh this brings back for me good and sad memories at the same time. My Aunties used to take me to Roxy, Odeon etc.... what were known as Nankani cinema halls or building. Wow! Well done Kwaku Mike.
But looking at the old nature of ashtown the layout was certainly design by the colonial administration, some of the buildings predate independence day
I grew up in Fante new town...I use to roam on these streets...the government needs to initiate some kind of beautification project to preserve this historic town. It has a New Orlean feel to it

Ash Town is important to Asantehene because most of his subnordinate chiefs reside there. They include Anakaasehene, Atenehene, Oyokohene{Poku Afriyie;s father], Ekyemhene-Shield bearer's chief{my grandfather}, Abrafourhene{the sword carriers chief],Kronkohene and many more.Other places like Asafo, Bantama, Amakom also have these chiefs who help and protect the King inall his activities.
Ash Town is a well planed area. I pray that all the kiosk would be removed from there. It is not far away from Kumasi market so this would not be a problem.
When you mentioned Konadu Yiadom schom school you forgot to mention saint Joseph's school which shares boundry or line between them. That is the school i attended in 1966- Catholic school, good school. I will recommend to everybody to sent his ward to that school.
Why are the churches beautiful than the Public Housing? How many painting Factories do we have in a town? I think we need Public Housing, every 3 monthly compulsory painting and we need Public Housing modern architect to Change the compound housing system.no more compound kitchen outside and etc and in Villages also. and financial Support is needed for Housing build for the poor from the Government to stabilize the Housing. The Quest also is how can we create fork lifts Factories to help the luggage Carry sytem to avoid the Station conjestion. 2nd quest , how can we Shift the Taxis and Transport vehicles from the fully Stations to other Areas to get calmness in the Stations. We need to create more jobs to ban the street Sellers. Big Hall grocery Shops is needed for neatness in towns and Villages. We could build a Common woody Mini basket holding tables for the grocery.m not talking about this Common Market table .i mean a proper table Woody vegetable basket holders which doesnt even cost the Government. Only the Common building Hall will cost a bit. Dunt we have Potential modern idealogist Carpenters in town? Imagine every town and village

That's not true and I think you don't know your history no British built in Kumasi. These houses are family houses built by Asantes and some were built with family cocoa money and others by rich Asante businessmen so don't say what you don't know ..!
My grandfather had a family house in ash town he had a very huge cocoa farm that even had gold in it, a lot of his kids are well known rich people in Kumasi including Adwoa Pinamang so I don’t know what you’re talking about 🙄🙄
