Welcome back, on this job we cleaned a 5m girth gear from a ball crushing mill. hope you enjoyed it, let me know what you liked or what you would like to see in the comments below
This is really good work. And because it is straight forward, though large work, can I very well imagine that one would not allow for sufficient time. Could you kindly share by what percentage the required/quoted time was underestimated? Thank you?
I think this new tech for solutions to cleaning without chemicals is so fascinating. I'd love to start a business using one of these fiber lasers because the versatility of their uses is extreme. You can clean historic artwork and statues, blast graffiti or you can strip an old truck's frame. There is so much you can do with one to make money. 👍🏻 What brand is your 500w machine? I'm pretty weary of the Chinese manufacturers after watching some videos. I was really interested in a Narran until I realized it cost about half as much as my 4 bedroom house...
Narran is a good brand, I am the agent for 4Jet in Germany and they have a few decades more experience in laser technology. It is definitely an industry that opens up many opportunities.
Hey, there mate thanks for the video, this is very interesting and something I'd be interested in learning, did you do a course in Germany on how to use the Jet4 if you don't mind me asking, also what if I wanted to do smaller jobs for clients for rust removal or graffiti removal jobs what machine would be ideal at a cheaper cost to start a business like yours, Also how and what is the easiest way you get the jobs, was it through word of mouth, tendering or through advertising, marketing, or youtube?
Cheers from the states! I am wanting to get into this myself and I was curious what kind of hourly rate I should charge. I have no idea what I'm doing so I'm trying to pick the brains of those who have gone before me lol. Thank you for your time!
I'm thinking about getting into this business as well in the states. Your comment is a yr old, Have you figured out a price model yet and purchased a laser?
@iwnlglobal I can't ever get a reply out of anyone. I've seen how the Chinese ones seem to work, but I'd have to take out a mortgage sized loan to get the one I want. The only reason I'd get a Chinese one is because they usually have a welding feature as well.
Great video dude, I really like the longer format stuff. I could watch this all day! I like your voice-over too, but don't feel pressured to feel like you have to always talk. I think there's something very soothing about watching the work happen, so if you wanted to upload longer videos that have long gaps in the voice-over, I'm sure that would be well received. Really awesome!
Cheers Will, thanks for your comment, I'm trying to provide value on how the process works, ideally this would have been a 10 minute video and I would have had more satisfying footage for you to enjoy. I also need to start filming some of the things that go wrong, for example on this job I had 2 lenses break.
Absolutely! there are companies using robotics and crawlers to clean the internals of tanks, and I am sure as you made this comment you know of other applications
Hi Lam, A good place to get started is to figure out what your target market would be locally, do you have experience or contacts in these sectors.. and investigate laser manufacturers. we are the agent for 4Jet. I have sent you quick email
how did you bid the job? I did hear that it was a bit more extensive than you projected. Do you normally do a hourly type bid? What was the wattage of the machine your using? If you could message me if you prefer.
This is a 500W pulsed laser. We charge a day rate which is around 1% of our asset costs plus an Houly rate for the crew. added expenses for out of town etc. We did a demo first and then roughly calculated the time to complete the job
Our smallest unit is a 200W JPT laser from China, its a bit of a toy in our applications though may be suitable for some. Our 200W laser has pulse energy of 1.5mj, they can be up to 10mj, which would result in afar superior strip rate
Thank you for the videos, would it be possible to get information on your machines, make, power, and cost, please? I live in Ireland, and I'm looking for a laser cleaning machine. Regards Michael O'Shea
Hi, such a great video. I wanted to know how you guys decide on pricing or if you can do a video on how much you charge for projects like this or burnt house cleaning.
Do you reccomend Chineese pulsed devices? because they are half of price the eu devices. Have you ever tried them ? What do you think also cw devices has to be used for? Thanks
CW definitely has its applications, though you wouldn't use it on this gear as the surface would be damaged. We started with a pusled laser that was broken for 8 months
Not really our wheelhouse, definitely a market for automotive, we've just priced ourselves out of that market, hence working within market's that can absorb the costs of 400k worth of equipment.
Thanks Mikael. I am an agent for 4Jet out of Germany, I do not know anything about the Chinese options. My Chinese laser did arrive broken, though I know they are not all like this
Does this machine require a special gas ? And do you need special training to be able to use a laser machine like this ? Great videos and neat work by the way. So much cleaner than sand blasting no doubt, but I know sand blasting would leave a consistent surface finish on surfaces that required painting. But these gear teeth need to be kept smooth, so great choice for cleaning.
It requires 3 phase electricity and compressed air to work, so no ongoing consumables. Blasting will always have a place in the market due to being able to give a profile to the surface, lasers fit a niche.
Hello, Im starting with laser in few months and I want to know how to price jobs, I have no clue how to calculate. Only thing I know and what sales manager told me is, its better its better charge per job, not fou hour. Because there is many things you make under hour and is better price them as complete job.
I have a 2000w VW laser. Could you explain in detail about the settings and how they affect the work… and what materials it cleans well and what materials it doesn’t
This job took me a lot longer than I envisioned, the surface area of the gear teeth was a lot more time consuming than I thought, and I ended up working for a couple days longer than I quoted I had countless hiccups and issues which meant I had to constantly stop and start. I increased my invoice over what I originally quoted and the customer and I came to an agreement.
@@projectlaser is it bold to ask what for price range cleaning with suchs a machine per hour costs ? i got a car which i like to get clean for example.
Hi there, do you sell laser machines? Im in the industrial cleaning industry in the uk and been looking at laser stuff for sometime. Very conscious of whats out there to buy. Regards kieran
Yes we do, we are the agent for 4Jet in Australia, they have an agent in the UK, TLM Laser, if you reach out, let them know I suggested them! we also have an E-book if you would like to learn more about this great industry
@@akeniry CW lasers definitely have market and are an excitingoptiondue to the ridiculously cheap price, it's just not for gears and precision components where the client wants true non contact cleaning.
I'm in the laser industry as well. It won't be long until you hear about my latest invention 😉 (Cleaning internal surfaces). I wish you the best on your business!
I made some money inventing another business and service, from there I was on youtube and saw a compilation of laser cleaning with a 1000W laser and dived into it, soon learnt of their price and had to downgrade to a Chinese made 200W laser, which was broken for 7 months from the day it arrived. Since then we have worked up to where we are now
@@projectlaser Same kind of issue with me. I have been actively trying to purchase a Chinese one to get started and then get a better one. I am afraid of getting it here and it not be what they said or a knock off laser source. Right now the ones in the States are very expensive so I have to take a chance on a Chinese one. Any thoughts on best way to do so ? I am thinking it may be possible in the future to upgrade the laser source plus I will be needing more than one machine.
