One Of Our Favorite Mines We've Explored Ladders, Beautiful Natural Timbering, Colorful Mineral Vein

In this mine exploration, we visit a mine that turned out to be one of our favorites. After driving the Jeep to the end of a desert road, we follow an old pack trail up to the mine. First, we come to a very sturdy explosives magazine below a large waste rock pile. After checking the bunker out, we find the portal, which is mostly eroded shut. After sliding in through the portal, we were pleasantly surprised to find beautiful natural timbering and a colorful mineral vein. While making our way further into the mine, we came to a large hoist room. There is some interesting timbering there and a big sheave wheel still in it's original position. Further on, we found a short ladder that we climbed, which brought us to an interesting stope with numerous stulls and a good look at the mineral vein. After returning to the main level we found another vertical shaft going down and a long set of ladders going up. We climbed up the long set of ladders and found a cool upper level. We hope you enjoy the video!

I was a uranium miner in Moab when I was six years old..LOL Best times I ever remember.. My dad struck a claim for The Rio Algum Lisbon Valley uranium mine...gave his share to my mom's cousin in 1972 Shut down now 250 employees and refinery built on the site.

Hi CC. I have a photo somewhere of a young miner who looks about six years old. He is very dirty, like coal dirty, he's smoking a pipe, and he's holding a pick that is almost as tall as he is. It sounds like your dad had quite a mine going there. I can only imagine how hard you guys worked. Thanks for the story of the Rio Algum Libson Valley Mine. 👍😁

To put that much labor into those workings they must have had some pretty good incentive. Just from what they didn't bother with id say that they were getting 8 ounces or better per ton. Thanks for the way you two make these videos. You capture the mines so well. The small hatch at the top of the ladders was just a hatch until Julie climbed up to it. Then we could see just how small it really is. How the heck did you squeeze through that milk chute! I can't wait to see the mill now. Thank you Both so much for making these fantastic videos and preserving these mines forever on video. I appreciate your historical documentation for future generations to see. These old mines are crumbling into obscurity. But these videos will ensure that they remain eternally. That's something you both can be proud of.

Hi Tom & Julie, those timbers were very cool to see, seeing those two counterweights and the homemade pulleys was very unique, you just don't see that type of thing normally and it shows great ingenuity by the miners too for making it all out of everyday things, awesome. That was a really cool mine, it had some beautiful woodwork in there. Very interesting mine. thank you for sharing. I look forward to the next videos. From the looks of it, it looks like there still could be gold there, however I don’t know how many tons to the ounce it would be, unless someone milled it and refined it. I know that there are still some people that have staked a claim on some of those old mines in Northern California and they are processing quite a bit of gold out of those old mines to this day. I think it’s really cool to see how they did mining from way back in the early days. Those old wooden ladders and shoots are really amazing. And especially the depth of the mine and especially the amount of hard work those men had to do to clean all that out. Just to be able to see history already made, and somewhat still preserved. Once again, thank you both for your hard work and sharing. 😁👍❤️

Hello Tom and Julie, I believe you could term that a double clinch on that hook. Someone really liked to saw timber joints. Those are so well done. The thing that I wonder about is how they got an ore car to that upper lever. It hardly looks like there is any way that one could go up, even in pieces. With that degree of difficulty, it's amazing that they removed it. Take care of your ribs, Tom. Julie, glad to hear that the cancer has stayed away.

Hello Frank. We're glad that you enjoyed the video. You are correct that the timbering is very well made. It's no wonder that there are no trees around outside. They cut them all down and used them in the mine. Thanks for the comment, and we hope you have a great week!👍😊

Really colorful veins in this mine. I see the colors yellow and gold. Is that actually gold? I see deep red and purple colors. Do you know what those minerals are? Great timbering. They were great carpenters and craftsman. Seemed like they enjoyed their work working with wood. Great footage at the end going down each ladder rung. Makes me feel like I was there. With the lack of trees, they would have had to truck all that raw timber and boards in? A real keeper! 👍
@TomandJulieMineExploring
@TomandJulieMineExploring Год назад
Hi Alan, I'm not a geologist, so I won't try to identify the minerals in the vein here. The timbering here is top-notch. I believe they cut what they could from trees near the mine and hauled the rest in. That's why there are no big trees in the area. Glad that you enjoyed the ladder cam. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍😁

Another fantastic explore, guys!! That hook dangling from a low stull at 22:50 could have been an anchor point for a slusher. I can't think of what else it would be if not that. Some really attractive veins in this mine. Veins are always very intriguing to me because they tell a story about the geology in that particular region. The story they tell is one of incredible violence on the part of Mother Nature since the minerals in those ore veins were delivered under incredible heat and pressure - so hot that the supercritical fluids circulating in the faults could dissolve metal! These fluids were heated by an underground plume of magma that was active and on the move in this region. If this is Nevada then all of this activity likely occurred between 7 - 13 million years ago. As the superheated metal-laden fluids rose and cooled through the faults in this region, the metals (gold, silver, copper, etc) dropped out and hardened in a mineral matrix, often containing quartz. The fluids would likely have risen all of the way to the surface, and manifested as a geyser or a hot spring, similar in appearance to Yellowstone. I could geek out about this stuff all day, LOL.
@TomandJulieMineExploring
@TomandJulieMineExploring 6 месяцев назад
Hi RG. Thanks for the detailed comment. It is fun to geek out about how all these mineral deposits came about millions of years ago. Like you said, there had to have been some violent events taking place with things getting rearranged and deposited in various places. I should have been a geologist!👍😁

What a mine! Guessing it's far from tapped out. Makes me wonder if a claim would materialize in the future? The mineralization is incredible. Maybe one of the 2 World Wars stopped mining? Second likely? Guessing that because of what's seen in there. And imagining how many conscientious explorers are leaving it in good order. No graffiti or news papers though. My 2 favorite side parts of any explore. Which I'm not doing, so no complaints! Thanks 👍🏻 always grateful.
@TomandJulieMineExploring
@TomandJulieMineExploring Год назад
It really is a beautiful mineral vein here. I don't know about any future claims or plans to reopen it. This one doesn't see a lot of explorers for some reason. It is a fairly long ride on dirt to get here, followed by a hike. The mine is very clean, and as you pointed out, no graffiti, papers, or cans. Thanks for the comment, Rick!👍😁

Thanks, Ted. It is a beautiful mine. Don't miss next Friday's video when we go down the shaft. We found some great artifacts. Glad that you have explored a few mines. We have spent some time hiking near the Union Carbide tungsten mine near Bishop. The Brownstone mine is above the Pine Creek. There was an aerial tram there that most likely went down to the Pine Creek Mine. The tram buckets are still there. Here is a link to that video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dCwmbLvPCRc.html Thanks for the comment!👍😁
