I never get tired of seeing them and the help keep the pride alive in being a Marine. I was at an embassy overseas awhile back (not a great country) half the Attaches and others at the embassy and consulate in this area were former active duty Marines as was some of the DSS guys. We all went out had beers talked story it was like we were all in the same unit even though I hadn't met any of them before except the legal Attache'- We call it the Marine Mafia no matter where you are no matter how bad it is or gets if there are others there that wore the EGA you'll be taken care of- I see it all over the world al the time in every clime and place.

I will never forget seeing the Silent Drill team... Most spectacular event of my life!

Our military is the best in the world, but I must admit, Marines are the best of the best. I wanted to join after high school, but chose another career I'm also passionate about. Thank you all for your service, USMC. We are the land of the free because of you brave people. Chesty would be proud of all of you.

I think what you all do is very important. It exemplifies and demonstrates the excellence for which the Marine Corp stands. For organizations like yours (USMC) to survive and retain their glory, there needs to be a subset of people who drive those standards of excellence. You do that.

My daughter is a 1st Lieutenant in the Marine Corp. went through the course at Quantico she nearly died from heat exhaustion at one point we never knew until she had graduated how much men and women go through to become Marines. Should say I never knew my husband was a combat Marine. My girl is a very strong woman but she is also very feminine.... it takes a heart and tough mind to get through it..I’m so proud to be her mom..she loves her country. Don’t f with USMC. All you little boys out there that disrespect on your keyboard come take it and see what you’ll get!

My husband served 74-76 with the SDP, and his sister stole his 24 coin from him. I have been trying for the last 25 years to find a replacement. Anyone out there able to help me with that??? Best I have been able to do is find a DVD of the history of the platoon, so he could show our kids. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Holy shit. I was at that game. They f'ed up pretty bad too lol. One of the marines missed the tossed rifle and went behind his head and think it broke but im not certain. Nah, but mad respect to the SDP and all other drill teams too.

As of right now, I’m enlisted into the Marine Corps and I ship out to Camp Pendleton on July 13th. I know very well about the Silent Drill platoon, and I want to be in it very badly. But, I am too short, my recruiter told me the height margin to be in the silent drill platoon is between 6’0” and 6’3”. And I’m only 5’7”😢

When i was in you volunteered for it when an renouncement was made. If they accepted you you was in. These guys are not purty boys, they are squared away marines. My point being they are simply marines. Nothing more, like DI's you just volunteer for it.No biggy.

Yes. You need to be 6' to 6' 2", an 03XX with no baggage. They only pick from SOI and in a very rare occasion they pick from Marine Barracks 8th & I.

Well,it looks like you teach a good job.and wellness is always best.i do t know if I'd if taken off my wedding ring.but I think I were wearing o e I'd probably take it off too.thats so it would t break or damage.and a very good idea too.i herd your school was good and partnering in a buddy system sounded good too,and I'm glad they share.i wanted my son to think about so e education classes to further his training in his academics but unfortunately they said he wasn't able to because of his diabetes.and etc.tgis was personable to us,and felt declined.so I wanted to know if you have any ideas on that now.do you have education classes available for things like that.because passing it along to him would be a good idea and I think it's what is as any idea would be good.anyway you can in touch with me here.id like the response.again and thank you for you and all you've done.and what an honor to give of yourself from your very own.i like that you think of that.and feel if it's what you felt like doing only because you knew what for and when all comes to an end for good things that pass the respect of negative that how wonderful that was I hope everything turned out great.and I hope for the best in all.
