I use the placater model almost exclusively for all my drive sounds in my 80s covers band. It's just perfect. I use it with the ownhammer friedman irs too
Always thought you'd sound great through Friedman stuff. I have a Runt which has a BE channel and can confirm the Placater thru the loop is dead on. It's a great amp for legato and even at max gain, cleans up beautifully rolling off volume
Wow, who'd have thought a Squire would look so high quality with that roasted neck and headstock. That is simply a gorgeous guitar. Are you borrowing that from a shop John? I see the plastic still on the pickups and a tag still hanging from the neck. The gold pick guard works well with the roasted neck and headstock.
Love this! Interesting timing for this video...I've been gigging with the HX Stomp and analog pedals for a while now. This last weekend I tried using the Placater instead of my favourite MIAB pedal and it was really great. Sounds awesome and equally feels great. I did a similar thing with two gain levels for clea-ish to shred. Good times!
Love this tone! Thinking a bit more “vintage”, I’d love a video on a Marcus King style tone. His signature orange is pretty unique and I’m not quite sure how to emulate that in my helix.
I picked up a new stomp, updated it, and the sound is jacked, sucks cause it’s new I don’t have a way to revert it back to previous versions. It’s like I can create a sound on my Helix Native. And use exact same settings on Stomp, sounds different, the stomp update has less gain, or like it’s still trying to blend 25% clean signal in… 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
I had a similar thing happen with my LT. I ended up reverting back to an old version by using the line 6 updater program. Once I had the LT revert back I did a factory reset, updated it to the latest firmware again and immediately did the reset again and now I have no issue at all. Hope this helps mate.
I have both a Stomp and an LT. Any time I try to get a medium-high or high gain sound from an amp (without an overdrive block), they sound beyond awful. I get great cleans and with most models I get good low gain sounds. Anything beyond that is horrible. Also, cranked Fender amps sound like shit and Voxes don't sound much better. I have real Fender and Vox amps and they don't sound like that so I don't know what is going on. I've been at this for years, though. Luckily my style is low/mid gain so the Helix stuff is still very usable, but now and then I do need more and I have to turn elsewhere. It's extremely frustrating watching this channel in particular sometimes because he does so much high gain stuff and it's as if it doesn't apply to me even though we're both using Helix and mostly strats. And obviously it's not his fault. There's either something wrong with my stuff or I'm doing something wrong. Anyway, best of luck. I hope you figure it out.
I just re-read your comment and the 25% clean signal thing also sounds familiar. Does yours sound kind of splatty and ice-picky? Like if you were to turn up your monitors would you legitimately fear your ears might start bleeding or your windows might break?
im looking at used versions of the pod go and the boss IR 200. already have a boss me-80 and am mainly look at amp sims/IR. which would suggest? Thanks and great vids!
Am I being dense? I'd like to get the Pod Go presets, but there is one link to presets and a different one for patches. Are patches different to presets?
@@jamdalf4343 Thanks for the reply. I see only two IR's in the Pod Go list and they are .wav files and won't transfer to the Pod Go. I am probably missing something somewhere. I used a couple of OH IR's I have and they sound pretty good.
@@jimmywade4086 You should be able to drag/drop the IRs (.wav format) into the "Impulses" folder in Pod Go Edit. I just imported mine this morning and it worked perfectly - give it a try!
