Theory: the moment Mordecai steps out of the car is one of the few times Rocky seriously panics. As they both used to run in Atlas's crew, I suspect he knew very well that Mordecai is an excellent marksman.
@a1l12e5x24 Mordecai? No. Rocky? Yes, plus a circus entertainer, and a lot of other stuff. More illegal type activities once he joined Atlas' gang. Which was just before Atlas died, so Rocky was the newest member to the original Lackadaisy gang. Then came Ivy (Atlas' god-daugther) and Freckle.
@@alexp5461 I mean, he was already a part of the band, meaning that he already hung out at Lackadaisy much like Zib, even if he wasn't part of the criminal activity. Mordecai and Rocky somewhat knew each other but probably didn't talk that often.
Tracy Butler (the creator) is going to start working on new chapters of the comic this year now that the pilot is finished! She also plans to start a kickstarter to fund more episodes! Lackadaisy Patron Squad Go!!!
6:51 I just noticed that when Rocky opens the casket if you watch Freckle he does the sign of the cross when he realizes that it’s just whiskey and not a body.
@@marmyeater Cajun is a type of Creole. Creoles are just unique languages made from several other languages, it doesn't matter the origin of why or how.
So on the newspaper article being read: Isadora Duncan was a well known dancer who died when her trademark long scarf got caught in the hubcap of her car while driving. One thing worth mentioning is the other gangs car is seen coming in while Rocky is clearly NOT being a good lookout.
18:28 Ivy Pepper's relation is she's Atlas' goddaughter. The former founder/owner of Lackadaisy before he was shot to death in 1926 (a year before this pilot took place). Also, Ivy and Viktor Vasko (Mordecai's partner during World War 1 in France) share a father daughter type of relationship. To say he got very sentimental in that moment would be a big understatement in his quest to find out what really happened that led to the death of Atlas May.
I remember seeing the Rocky poetry sequence back when it was still in storyboard stage. And that was 3 years ago, back when the Lackadaisy crew went on the Hunicast for the first time. It is nuts to see it fully realized. I think this pilot, does a very decent job at introducing all the characters. I have never read the webcomic (might give it a try, heard good things.) but I feel I got to understand exactly what everyone is about, and memorized the names fairly quickly. I hope it gets picked up, or they go the route of Helluva and manage to produce more from the fan support alone. Either way the pilot in itself is a testament to all their talent and hard work, and it is dazzling.
The creator said that they are in the sniffing stages with possible sponsors, otherwise they'll continue to create more episodes independently via kickstarters and merchandise! Plus, she plans to continue the comic again soon 😊 They even have their own comic dubs on their RU-vid channel with some of the actual voice actors! I highly recommend it!
@@diamondcrumpton7456 Yeah, I remember them mentioning it on their more recent Hunicast appearance. It very much reminds me of that period of uncertainty between the Hazbin pilot being first posted, and the A24 announcement, almost a year later. So, it might be a while until they can disclose the future of Lackadaisy in the animated form. They gotta make sure to choose what's best and most viable for the show moving forward.
And now we know what work Michael Kovach found after Hazbin recasts. He's now doing Rocky! Love his roles. And this one looks like it's gonna be some good fun, ya? ^_^
@@marmyeater I was just like playing some games on my phone and saw the notification of him reacting to lackadaisy and I'm a big fan from the pilot so this hapened
