Update 0.7.44 The Rules behind Free Unit Cards
Balance Adjustments
Hi! This is the first balance patch after the launch of the three experimental features. In this patch, we have rebalanced most of the free unit cards. And we also hope to take this opportunity to explain the rules behind the free unit card.
Balance Adjustments
Nerfed the free unit cards of Hacker and War Factory.
Nerfed the free unit cards of high-level Phoenix, Wasp, Marksman, Arclight, and Mustang.
Nerfed all free unit cards with a squad count greater than 1.
The Rules behind Free Unit Cards
Free unit cards will appear once in each of the four ranges (rounds 2-4, rounds 5-7, rounds 8-10, and rounds 11-13).
Units already on the field will not appear as free unit cards.
The single-round budget of free unit cards = 200 x Number of rounds
In addition to the basic cost of the units, when calculating the value of free unit cards, the unit's level, squad count, maintenance fee, etc. will also be included in the calculation.

Three experimental features
Random Free Units
During a game, players will encounter several opportunities to obtain units for free. Get 5 squads of Sledgehammer, or 3 Wraith, or 1 level 7 Rhino for free? Players will encounter many such difficult choices.
To ensure that the game doesn't end too quickly, the player's base health has been increased by 500.
If this feature proves popular, we will introduce rare units through this feature in the future.
Duplicate Reinforcement Cards
Many reinforcement cards now appear multiple times in the game. 2 Laser Sights? 4 Ranged Specialists? 3 Nukes? It's possible.
Changing Deployment Zone
The deployment zone for the first round will now be slightly smaller than before. We hope this will improve the first round layout diversity of certain MRR ranges.
Balance Adjustments
Melting Point
The production interval of the Tech [Crawler Production] has been adjusted from 30 seconds to 32 seconds.
Scorpion
HP increased from 19677 to 20661
Attack increased from 10305 to 10821
Equipment
[Enhancement Module] adjusted from level 2 to level 3
The effect of [Absorption Module] is adjusted as follows: Increases the equipped unit’s HP by 30%, and converts 90% of the damage dealt to HP.

The sledge taking down the barrier made a huge difference. It allowed the fire to be spread before the bubbles came back up.

yeah, it was my stopgap solution to answer the fort bubbles, normally I would have gone straight for the EM barrage Melters, but since he put his forts like THAT I was able to use the EM sledge cheese for a few rounds

In retrospect, your opponent should have put another barrier between your Sledges and his Forts. If you go EM barrage, he goes AMS. @@pompmaker_1

also the Overlords with photon were for the purpose of blocking EMP blasts, which came out on that turn

I enjoyed watching this but also, there were about 5 different ways to not get burnt by the fire and it was almost excruciating to watch

I don't know about you but I regularly use the anti air w/ fortress, incredibly good against swarms.

What a crazy match! glorious wasp supremacy! remember to always respect wasps, they may do very little normally but have one of the highest damage potentials in the game

Can’t fathom why red didn’t take the WF unit drop and throw anti missile on there. Maybe even succ on the mp would have been massive. Or adv fire power control on some mustangs. Insane game tho

Okay so, a single war factory can BARELY block one incendiary barrage from ONE vulcan, and when the vulcan has both incendiary barrage AND oil barrage, about half will still get through the AM. When the free war factory came up, there were five vulcans with both barrages teched. It would have done nothing. In fact, it would have done less than nothing, since it would have taken up valuable space where bubble forts could have been placed instead.

For whatever reason, the Giant Barrages (vulcan's oil and fire, fort AA, melter EM) are much harder to intercept than normal overlord/stormcaller missiles, so AM is not a very valid option for dealing with those For vulcan fire especially, a much better tactic is to use bubbles to block the missiles and force the fire all into one small clump rather than letting it spread out (fire always does 350 damage per second regardless of how concentrated/spread out it is, so fire over a large area is way more dangerous than the same amount of fire in one tiny spot)

I’ve seen WF block Melters EM relatively easily, need at least two Melters to really get something through.

The issue being these vulcan had double barrages, and there were already 4-6 of them on the board. Blue could add fire easier than Red could add antimissile@@juliomiguelbabilonia4541

Wasps behave just like other units, they just visually high in the sky, aka more "up". But their position is actually below it, so it skews ur perception, so they apper to chase random target, while in reality it's just the closest thing out there. When wasps are dying note where their corpses fall. It's the actual position.

I would've liked to see Red going for photon-boats. These *might* have made a difference here, I never tested but I hope they also reduce the damage from fire. When the Mustangs start surviving even just a little the Wasps will feel the heat instead. EDIT: I tested, photon coating does in fact reduce the damage received through stormcaller fire on the ground, and I suspect every other source fire will act the same.

they definitely do, and photon also stacks with the damage reduction from digging crawlers. This means a squad of level 1 crawlers that is photon buffed and underground has effectively 2000 HP per crawler. Use this information wisely

@@pompmaker_1 Ok, now I kinda want to start making that into a build. If you hit Elite Crawlers at some point, and just photon/tunnel them I think you still get shut down by Vulcans but... Maybe if you combine it with a bunch of Rhinos with the same photon buff, giving them absurd EHP? Maybe somebody should try this and make a video out of it...

I've been using similar at 1800, except utilizing a lot of stormcallers and frontline sledges instead, and mainly as a pivot from getting a free high level wasp to pivot into mass wasps.

The lack of anti-air barrage in Fortress is criminal. Cost him a match that could have ended turn 7. But no complaints, provided this epic Wasp game.

AA barrage would not have helped him that much, since the fortresses were dying so quick. All I would have needed to do was put two squads of wasps in front to bait out the first two AA barrages, then the forts would all die before launching the third one also, AA barrage doesn't do too well against shielded wasps specifically, because they each need two hits to kill also also, AA barrage doesn't scale with fort level, so it would have been much less effective once the wasps hit level 5 ish and got more than 900 health each, because then each shielded wasp would take 4 barrage missiles to kill (2 for shield, 2 for health)

@@pompmaker_1 i think it would have helped a lot, there just wasnt enough aa dps for red, just a single volley would have been enough to swing the tide most rounds, especially before the wasps hit level 9.

Not really the best match, but very entertaining! Would this strategy be possible without the free units card? Probably not, or much harder. That's why I think somehow this concept of getting high level units should stay in the game.

Could have just put a pack of shielded fangs in front of the sledges so the emp sledge couldn't take the shield down.

I feel like red could have mobile beaconed some packs of mustangs in the back so they don't drive into the fire, especially in the earlier rounds

TIL in the extremely rare case where you can have a unit inside of an enemy unit's barrier, you can actually EMP to disable the barrier edit: TIL if the EMP wears off the barrier actually comes back

you noticed the emp sledges a round late and your analysis of it not mattering is weird, you should have enough mechabellum hours by now to understand it had nothing to do with damaging the fortresses, the point was solely for the fire to land, which it did.

I think he may actually have been TOO high level to properly understand it, because high level players NEVER put giants right on the line like that, they always put at least one squad of chaff in front, so he literally has never seen sledges being used like that, and has no experience with the concept of downing bubbles temporarily also he did eventually figure out that the point was for it to get the fire to land, if you watch the rest of the video, it just took him a while to grasp the bonkers strat of complete fire coverage and the bonkers strat of em sledges inside fort barriers and put those two together
