Been there mate, the holes in the lava are where the flaming rocks come from, and they just never seem to miss. I ended up having to tame an Asksvin to retrieve them cos I ran out of basalt bombs.

I feel your pain dude... We had the same exact experience in the lava ordeal... After that shit I made it my goal to have atleast a couple stacks of basalt bombs xD

The pillar mechanics are over the top. It's like they had a brainstorming session to think up all the possible ways to kill the player in the lava... then implemented ALL of them }:D - there are other ways to get metal which are more friendly to your sanity

You had me screaming "equip your belt and cape" and "stop looking around and go". Maybe a few choice words also.

My first flametal spire was a deathloop for me as well. One thing I learned quickly was to leave some basalt bombs at home, like you learned. XD Other thing I suggest is to mine the flamatal from the top down which is nerve wracking all by itself. The deathloop started when I was near the bottom of the spire and and an askvin headbutted me into the lava. I was in such a bad spot, I had to use old gear to take out the mobs, just so I could have some peace and get my stuff. Watching the first part of your vid, where I failed as a mage was not using the dead raiser to make an army. That was me being lazy tho because I don't think I have any skeleton trophies, which I think is what you need to make the thing and upgrade it. I would just need to go to the swamp and find a spawner or hit some dungeons in the black forest. The new food unlocks really upped how much eiter and everything you can have, so I may try mage play again. There's one new staff I've seen people use that, uh, really brings some chaos to the game play. Not sure if you've unlocked it yet, so I won't say anything, but i can see why people suggest mage for Ashlands.

Man, that was great! Painfull but great! 😂 I have been there dude, back in the day the flametal nodes sunk into the lava after 30 sec (or something like that) after the first pickaxe hit.. And ofc I didn't know that the first time, so that's when my deathloop started 😄 Ended up building a beambridge out of iron just above the lava, couse i did also not know about the basaltbombs

Ya trying to get your stuff back in lava is not fun! Now you just need to find a fortress! They are tough to clear but there are definitely rewards that you want in there

Man the thumbnail makes the biome look soo cool, instead of just a barren wasteland. Is it a mod you got that stopped the pillars from sinking, or did they already change it which sucks

Can you put a new boat on the lava? If yes, this will help by having standing platform

Very normal Ashlands for now but you could have equipped your weight belt was early in the body recovery mission to not be encumbered. Next time lol
