No it‘s not, Bayern and Dortmund are the biggest clubs in germany and both were in crisis throughout the whole season. And if Dortmund weren’t in the UCL final, they would have sacked their manager as well. Bundesliga was at their peak early 2010s when Bayern and Dortmund were both Top 4 sides in europe. Also Arsenal played UCL till the quarter-finals, while Leverkusen played Europa League against Häcken, Molde, Qarabag etc. and therefore could rest players for league games.

@@AB-jg1ny I don't remember Aresnal losing 4 key players in the middle off the season due to an Afcon and asia cup. People forget the challenges leverkusen faced this season. Btw Stuttgart is the best 3rd place in Bundesliga history right now and Bayern was the best 2nd place after the half of the season (pointwise). Its not like there arn't any other strong teams this season. Also Dortmund played quite well in all games they could give away the possesion, which makes a reasonable amout of really tough games during the season. Prem was not really peaking 03/04 aswell, United was the only team who reached the cl final in the decade leading up to the invincible season. Going unbeaten in Budesliga is already comparable to arsenals run, let alone doing it in 2 more competitions. (Arsenal lost to Middelsborough in the cup that season, any oponent can be the trippingstone, thats why its never been done before).

And me as a Dortmund fan i can tell you for a fact this is one the worst league seasons we had in last 15 years. In that time period the football was never so bad, even in Klopp‘s last season it was better. (I‘m only talking about the league, not UCL) It’s a historical achievement for Leverkusen and maybe better than Arsenal in 03/04, but i was only stating the point, that the Bundesliga was way stronger in the early 2010s. Bayern, Dortmund at their peak and you had also the likes of Schalke, Wolfsburg or Bremen who were still very good. You can‘t compare it to now. And let‘s be real there were very dodgy referee decisions in the 2nd half of the season, the games in Dortmund and against Stuttgart they would have lost with normal refs. They are obviously a very good team, but quality wise nowhere near Klopp‘s Dortmund or Bayern under Heynckes and Guardiola.

I would argue leverkusen vs man city would be a superior match. Man city is still better than Real Madrid in my eyes. Madrid always plays a “certain way” against city. Man city stays true to their footballing style and philosophy every match even if they lose.

That is subjective. The year Porto won the UCL, they did have a good team. As does Leverkusen. You can always have debates comparing UCL with Porto Vs 1st Bundesliga trophy ever against Bayern & Dortmund.

Not in the league they can't. That's how absurd their streak is - the unbeaten streaks of the other clubs they showed were only for the respective leagues.

@@rm0986 Who cares. If you are unbeaten in the league, but in the meantime you lose in other competitions, there is no "streak", it's not consecutive. That's why it was Benfica that held the record before Leverkusen. Juventus and Milan both came close to having an unbeaten season, as did Perugia but they all lost in the cup (Perugia also didn't win the title). So did Ajax in 1995 and Dinamo Bucuresti in 1992. Star Belgrade had only one loss to Hoffenheim in their "uneaten" season. Debrecen, I think, in 2012 had an unbeaten season, but they didn't play in Europe. So besides Debrecen I can't think of any other club going unbeaten for the entire season in recent years. Leverkusen can do this. They've already beaten the record for most consecutive undefeated games. Now they can go unbeaten for the entire season. Juventus, Milan, Arsenal and so on didn't do either. Augsburg, Atalanta and Kaiserslautern can stop Leverkusen for the unbeaten season.

Even if they were to lose to Kaiserslautern or Atalanta after beating Augsburg, going unbeaten in the Bundesliga is still a record, and an absurd one at that - even Bayern never managed that, not in their sextuple/treble years and not when they went out of cup and UCL early. Saying "who cares" about that is utterly disrespectful to the achievement it is.
