Couple of notes here, houses and decorations don't actually need to be accessed by the workers, they just need to be inside the orange area that shows up around the hearth when you're placing one. So it's actually worth it to clear out the trees close to the start and stick them in the corners out of the way. If you only care about efficiency rather then aesthetics, and most of the time you do in this game to make the margins . Secondly, it's not in this tutorial mission but in basically every other mission opening glades makes your hostility increase. So you only want to do so when you need more resources to harvest or have a quest to do so... and even with the quest it can be worth waiting if you have other quests to work on first. Finally all the camps cost parts but you get them all back when you demolish a camp, so you could have gotten some back to rebuild that Herbalist camp, it's generally better to rebuild buildings you can't make yourself, unless they're for processing some resource you can't gather or it's a production building a long way from your warehouse and hearth. Gathering buildings are pretty much always worth it though.
