It's really funny. I mean, I'm Japanese and have listened to ONE OK ROCK for a long time and I don't care which language they sing in. I do not understand why some people are so annoyed they started singing in English. Most people in Japan who are actually Japanese don't care but foreigners seem to be so bothered by it? I don't understand it haha.

just becuase everyone seems to be concerned, there is an original version sung in both Japanese and English. The video version, however is only in English. Although they are trying to infiltrate the American market- they won't lose they're roots, please keep supporting them no matter where their music goes!

To be honest, I wouldn't be bothered about this song at all if it were done by other band. The song is generic af and the only thing that makes it work is to attach One OK Rock name on to it. Greatly disappointing. If you can read Japanese, a lot of their Japanese fans are disappointed too. And it's not about them singing in English or Japanese, it's more about the music being produced just become so simple and generic, like any other American angst bands.

LOL you sound a bit immature. Am I not allowed to criticise their change in music and I have to love all their new releases whether they are good or not so I will be able to called myself 'a fan'? I've followed them for years and they always hold a special place in my heart. No matter how much I hate their recent songs, I still can't forget the positive feelings, encouragement and nostalgia their old songs and lyrics brought to me. They are selling better now, it's good for them. I'm happy that they are more well-known too. I never ask for them to remain 'the same', bands need to change and move on. Just that, this isn't how I expect it to be.

Can you guys stop with the negative comments? This song is really nice and has a really powerful meaning too like their old ones. Yeah they are changing their own style but thats because they want to expand their music. "Taking off" even has it's own english/japanese version, so we don't have to rage about this? +DDDado96 all of this is so evident. i dont mind the new audience, what i hate are the older fans lying to themselves saying that the new songs are just as good as before. shallow lyrics? more computer than instrumental? fucking excessive autotune? 普通、アメリカのバンドは何をテーマに歌っているか分かる。愛だったり、世の中狂ってるぜ～とか。ワンオクの歌詞は英語でありながら、邦楽のように何をテーマにしている分からない、聞き手に解釈を委ねるような曲が多い。とても東洋的で、それがアジアで受け入れらている理由だと思う。アジアと欧米のロックの格好良さが絶妙に混じりあっているのだろう。日本だからこそ生まれたバンドだと思う。彼らの音楽がどこに辿り着くのかとても楽しみにしています。

洋楽の劣化版という批判があるが、このクオリティは普通に海外のクオリティに匹敵すると思うし、オリジナリティもあると思います。All Time LowやPATD、BMTHとかと混ぜて聴いてもしっくりくるし。

I've been an OOR fan since late 2012. And yes I do miss their old sound that defined them in Nyche Syndrome, Zankyo Reference, Zeitakubyo etc... BUT I'm so proud that they're out there breaking through the western market. Dear old school OOR fans, are you guys annoyed at OOR for being successful or are you just bitter at the new fans who know nothing but their recent singles? Regardless old and new school fans, remember that OOR has one of the best songwriting capabilities in the scene, always puts on a spectacular live show and will remain to give it their best now and always. Sincerely, an OOR fan who wants peace.

For me, the problem is not that they're changing. After all, every single album of theirs is quite different. I just have a problem with how their sound is changing. It's mostly a matter of personal preference. Their stuff from Jinsei × Boku = onward is generally good, but I see lots of problems. For example, most of the songs are overproduced. Specifically, there are lots of vocal effects, including autotune, and the other instruments feel robotic because of how touched up they often feel. There are also times when their songwriting feels generic. I feel like they should be themselves and let the instruments be properly heard, and then they should evolve their songwriting in different ways. It's okay if they're successful worldwide and if this is working for them, but I personally would like to see them take a different approach.

When ONE OK ROCK released "Beam of Light" and "Kanjo Effect" in 2008, they weren't "ONE OK ROCK" anymore because of how they changed from the sounds of Zeitakubyo; ONE OK ROCK's first studio album in 2007. When they released "Zankyou Reference" in 2010, they weren't "ONE OK ROCK" anymore because of how it diverted from sounds of "Beam of Light" and "Kanjou Effect" in 2008. When they released "Jinsei x Boku =" in 2013, they weren't "ONE OK ROCK" anymore because of how they diverted from the sounds of "Zankyou Reference" in 2010. When they released "35xxxv" in 2015, they weren't "ONE OK ROCK" anymore because of how it diverted from the sounds of "Jinsei x Boku =". In other words, you'll complain in every sound they release. The thing you guys are missing here is that ONE OK ROCK has been experimenting their sounds since their debut album titled "ONE OK ROCK' in 2006. You are a fan of a certain album not the band. If the true ONE OK ROCK's "genre" was, if we define it by their roots - should be their debut album "ONE OK ROCK", because that's how they started. Listening to that album, you can clearly see how the band was influenced by LINKIN PARK's sounds. It featured Toru rapping, and even in their first studio album and single in 2007 titled "Yume Yume" also featured Toru rapping. And you could go and search on the internet, and listen to those songs, then tell me if those records sounds the same as "Jinsei x Boku =".

Try listening to their old song and watch MV's like The Beginning, Clock strikes, Re:make, Liar, Deeper deeper, Nothing Helps, No Scared, Mighty Long Fall etc. You may found out why those people reacted that way.

all bands evolve over time. if people want a band that puts out the same single a million times with the same sound, what's the point of them putting out any new music at all? i took a listen to the tracks people recommended in these replies and this isn't that different from that style. the 'soul' of their music seems to have been kept in tact. people should be more open minded and shouldn't fear change just because they're taking on a new music market. at the end of the day, they're a great band with a unique style that's remained the same and that is easy to recognize, and that should be especially clear to their core fanbase.

I've seen Taka up close last week (he was 1 meter away from me). He is so much more handsome in person than in most of his MVs. I don't know what they do to him in the MVs, but he is 10 times more handsome in person and extremely charming. Extremely!

I do hope their international success. Taka's vocal is one of the greatests and their songs and stage presence are so good. And what's magical about oor is they make ppl who hadn't listened to rock like oor and realize rock is for them. I thought oor would become very popular rather quickly. But... that my expectation's been shrinking this several months. It's my personal thoughts but they've been failing to give good impression to ppl and I have kind of doubt about their associations of all directions. I think they are nice, talented and hardworking musicians but aren't very skillful about other things especially in international scenes. I think that's not problem if they ask for advises and support from right people and concentrate on their quality music. But I started to feel that things may not go well that quickly. I still hope their success. If they're struggling for things, I hope they overcome. And of course, I'm worrying about their stressful states from language, cultural matters and homesickness a lot.

I think they are amazing no matter what I actually kicked someone's ass a few days ago for talking shit about taka like that person was racist so I beat them up to shut the hell up. And I cried listening to taka's cover of Adele hello he did better then her. I think his voice had more feeling then Adele. And this video taking off was way better then I thought it would be. But I do like videos like this. And I do believe oor will make it big it just takes time because patients well come.

I don't get why all the people start to hate around so much and cry over things which are not worth crying for. To be honest, in my opinion there is nothing wrong with it to try something new especially if you are a band which exist for a long time. Of course, their old songs will be legendary and their new album isn't going to top anything they did in the past. But is this a reason to be so negative? I mean if you loved OOR until now you will continue loving them no matter what they are going to do in the future. ♥ ♥ ♥ So STOP the hate, love OOR and just enjoy the music ♥ ♥ ♥

今のワンオク凄いと思う。昔の方が良かったってコメントも頷けるんだけど、やっぱり確実に今の方が凄い。昔は全力全開で音楽にぶつかってってた感じなんだけど、今は全身全霊でぶつかってるように思う。全力を尽くして、死力を尽くしているっていうスタンスとかコンセプトは変わってないんだけど、何か余裕が見えるんだよね。俺はまだこの程度じゃねえぞっていう感じの。いつかその隠してきた何かが表舞台に出てきた時に、きっとワンオクはもっと凄いバンドになるんじゃないかなと思ってます。色んな世界を体験して、経験して、進化したOneOkRockを見せて下さい！
