@@patrixfpv Yeah... been busy getting my farm prepped for building, so no time for IRL flying... Stacked up some late night hours on the DRL sim though, working on that world leaderboard position 🙂 Btw... forgot to mention, the b-roll you added here was awesome, seeing all you preflight checks and all !!
Was it too obvious? Haha thanks! After I have lost the second drone, both with a session5, I told myself that I cannot afford to lose another one no to mention with a 7Black or a 10Black onboard so I had to assess what I was doing wrong and the additional things needed to be checked.
@@patrixfpv Would love to hear what can go wrong (beside obvious like propelers). Otherwise - not many flyers do that! Thank you for sharing the knowledge with others :)
@@aschelocke5287 haha no, this was not it. Actually I don't think that I will failsafe or lose video there, I just don't wanna try it, it's not worth it for me.
And yes if communication failed then the last location uploaded would be where it went but usually communication is restored once it heads back so if the location has changed since it can resume updating.
Now THIS was an awesome flight! Also loved seeing you come from your quarters, set up, takeoff, and land, felt a lot closer to you through the video. Thank you for sharing sir!
That was very cool. So much risk. Never seen a more dangerous environment for loosing a quad. The water and lack of other objects means depth perception is very hard. Nothing for the signal to bounce off, so anything that goes out of line of sight means you could suddenly loose connection, and any crash means no quad. Your battery recovered to 3.3 which means it was lower as you came in to land. You were literally seconds from loosing your quad. 6s Batteries drop off quick at he end. Balls of steal my friend.
I bring all my 6s packs in at 20 Volts and it’s no biggie but I wouldn’t over water. I have a bunch of fresh packs now and I’m considering landing them earlier
@@patrixfpv set up average cell voltage on your OSD and bring packs back before 3.6V cell this will you keep you a little more safe like these guys are saying! Plus less math in your head haha!! Good rips bro and keep it up!!!
My son and I were wondering just the other day if you could fly a drone off a cruise ship. I joked "Oh the view, how nice, uh-oh, the wind! Bye bye!" but apparently the boat and wind speeds are tolerable! Thank you so much for the awesome extra preparation footage, that part always gets cut. You showed us all your preparation, and that walk through the door, (college dorm?) hallway, and final surprise out the exterior door was golden!
Thanks man! Just be careful if you do try it, especially if you have a GPS drone. It's quite tricky especially when the ship is running as it will keep its position as per GPS. If you do have FPV, figure out how to land first before everything else. Good luck to you and your son!
Hi! Which terminal are you in? I have always wanted to fly in port but am not willing to pay for penalties and am afraid to go to jail so I never did 🤣
I also work at a container terminal.. my buddy lost a quad in the Savannah river (failsafed), he lost signal on the far side while circling a ship.. u are smart not to try.
Hey Bro, This is one of the coolest videos I've seen in a while. It brings me some memories from when I was working at sea and since I'm only starting to fly with a drone I have to say that I'm so impressed with this fly along your ship. Your crew must be proud of you. All the best. 😉
Ooof! I thought flying up mountains was nervewrecking! I couldn’t stop thinking what would happen in case of a fail safe or something! No way to get it back 😅 GPS rescue would be of no help! 😂 Nice flight man!
I think exactly opposite. You can see he's good on the sticks, however pussy flying. No split-s, dives, gaps. Nothing! I doubt you'd loose your signal completely behind the containers
Awesome view, and such a great place to get to fly. I'd be afraid of dropping that into the water, I've already dropped two of my tiny guys in the pond in my front yard. I guess I need more practice.
as a first time viewer i laughed out loud seeing your hands comped over the drone footage, as i imagined you yourself sitting on a tiny paramotor or something with a gopro headcam. awesome footage!
Very cool, I'll bet you can do some serious range tests out there, lol, I've always wanted to fly off of a ship and back. I sub'ed hoping to see more flights at sea!
This is not the place to do a range test as nothing will save you from a failsafe, battery problem or for any reason that would cause your drone to fall out of the sky 😅. Thanks! And I'm glad you liked this.
you crazy bastard, diving straight down out in the middle of the damn ocean. this certainly has to be the only fpv quad to have ever been flown in that location, it must be like that every time you fly at sea. so fucking cool! have a sub, im about to start my fpv journey in the coming weeks and your channel will be helpful, thank you
Thanks a lot man! Good luck on your FPV journey! I highly suggest stick time in the sim, with FPV goggles if you have them already. I haven't thought about it before but yeah, this might be the only quad (or maybe one of the very few!) that have ever been flown here.
@@patrixfpv thanks for the tips! I pre-emptively bought the DJI transmitter(and bought the cable to plug it into my pc and use it as a sim controller) as I play to go digital via DJI, the older transmitter that's black and full size(not the gamepad style). I have experience with drones, just not full manual, but I do intend to give alot of stick time in the sim first. Going to look for a Vista or Air unit, and a SpeedyBee stack that is made for DJI and uses alot of plugs instead of soldering. I've got it all mapped out I've been thinking about it for a long time, just trying to finish my other hobby projects first(mountain bikes and sim racing/pc gaming :p). Maybe I'll post some videos once I start flying
WOW, saw you again. Nag-usap tayo late 2019 or early 2020! That's a very cool video! I remember you told me the seas has claimed your quads before. Glad to see you back bro!
Looks like you’re at sea all the time! You should post more flights bro, this was super interesting. Should consider getting a 3.5 inch and test its penetration, once you know your limits it would be sick for the area you’re in.
Awesome footage. How do your crew mates react to it? Does the Captain get you to do load inspections with it? It'd make a great way to do recon on suspect boats approaching the ship. Heck, how do you upload from there? Is that a regular shipboard workers accomodation?
@@volvo850enjoyer8 1st one was early 2019, lost video, i think the mmcx got disconnected during punch out. 2nd was was crossfire failsafe about 10 meters away from the ship 😅
