If you find yourself alone and need to bleed brakes on a car, which method do you use? We demonstrate 4 common methods and give our 2 cents on which methods we like, which ones we don't, and why. Disclaimer: we allowed all methods to gravity bleed until we weren't getting air out after each testing method.

Very Good!! I use the MityVac mostly to flush the old fluid out. Also, when I use the MityVac, I leave the suction on while closing the bleeder.. Another tip, I have a vehicle that has M8X1.2 length 24mm brake bleeder. So ,I make an adapter, I ordered some M8X1.2mm length 31mm and slid a 6" clear plastic hose over the bleeder nipple with a small about of silicon rubber topped a with a small Zip Tie. No more air leaks and bubbles. Solution is to make adapters instead of using the rubber boots that come with the unit..

This was so helpful and comprehensive, im very grateful you did it. I bought brake oil and a reverse bleeder to do 3 cars and you potentially saved me a lot of money in damaging the master cylinders with dirty oil.

Air powered reverse bleeding is fine just be ready to drain the master cylinder when it fills up… if there is debris in the lines all ready chances are no matter which method you use it will eventually reach the master cylinder anyway when you close the system up and get back to normal driving. 2 people recommend or keep watch on reservoir level

also consider the SPEED BLEEDER valves! And a large syringe to push fluid back up... in a controlled/regulated manner..... (strongly advised for some motorcyles...I am finding out). THANKS!

Wrong tool for the reverse bleed and the line wasn't primed. Or at least it looks like it wasn't.

No power bleeding methods?

Neither of us have one. But maybe we’ll revisit one day.

@automotiveinsight I like the vaccum method you showed, it wasn't just my imagination... it leaves air in the lines!

It definitely does. I imagine the entire line looks like the hose while you’re doing it. It definitely needs to gravity bleed after.

@@automotiveinsightI saw one video where the vacuum hand pump had to be done for like 15 minutes before the line showed a steady airless flow with a few M/C topoffs as well
