seeing you cry at the end with the "dreams scene" just tells me that they did it. they did a good job of delivering the heart of One Piece. this is One Piece, it's not just a manga, an anime, or a live action series. To the fans its a whole different world where you can escape to and learn so much from. the empathy of luffy, the kindness of sanji, the loyalty of zoro, the cunningness of nami, and the bravery of usop. you give a great reactions to this whole series, thank you.

On the romance subject, Oda is very hardline on there being no romance among the crew. A producer said in an interview that that was one of the first requirements Oda laid out for them.

Whoever thought of the flash backs of each member of the crew being kids stating their dreams one by one, really knew what they were doing. that went straight to the heart of every person watching

Fun fact: the a lot of the Koby and Helmeppo plot is inspired by a series of cover stories called the Diary of KobyMeppo, so their friendship does literally have an official ship name

Garp throwing cannonballs like baseballs & Mihawk cutting up ships in half from a distance are the first clues we have to the power scale in this show...can't wait for Season 2🔥🔥

This show just absolutely nails the look & feel of One Piece to me while also adding something new with how they’ve restructured & streamlined the story. I can't wait for season 2.

Oh boy, East Blue was only the prologue! You guys have no Idea how insane One Piece gets after this... season 2 will kickstart the dive into the LORE that keeps getting deeper to our very day now in One Piece chapter 1092! And... One Piece seriously has some of the most iconic arcs in anime/manga history.

There's a good reason why the manga/anime has been ongoing after all these years. It never stops bringing all the feelings (Joy, sadness, excitement, everything!). The best part is that it will only get better and better.

That ending hits me hard as a fan since 2014. Brings so much memories. And thank you for setting sail with us, Jaby and Achara!

I think Luffy starts to grow on you, when you realize how tenacious he really is. He can seem naïve at first, but it's when he's battle-tested that you realize that he really is about this shiz. The optimism hits different once you see how hard he's willing to fight to make his dreams come true - the he becomes truly loveable once you realize that he's willing to fight just as tenaciously for other peoples dreams too

watching this live action takes me back years back. its such a JOY. BOY this was a good live action series..

This series is nothing short of a miracle ! And yes, that finale with all the friends they've made around the ocean during the season smiling at the poster (Employee of the month made me chuckle quite a bit !) and the kids comeback for the final sendoff to their dreams got me hard too ! That was an absolutely brilliant directing ! The fact that it is the absolute best series of the moment when there's a freakking STAR WARS series that's airing concurrently is wild ! And very much a testament of how the landscape of Hollywood might change in the future, with less people interested in MCU/Star Wars, and more towards successful manga/anime adaptation. Anime has a very different style, morality, and beats of storytelling, so I can totally see good adaptations like this one reshaping the future landscape of entertainment, especially now that the superhero fatigue discussion is raging, and Star Wars has been very hit or miss. As a long time fan of Avatar, I was very nervous about it when the 2 co-creators of the OG franchise have left the project, but after all the hype from the actors, and now Netflix flexing its Live action adaptation skills with One Piece, I'm now looking forward for ATLA ! As far as we know, for a second season, well, th estrikes are still going on, so no shooting planned for the foreseeable future, but apparently the producers have said that the scripts for s2 are ready to go, so all in all, if you count 10 months of shooting and another year at least for VFX (the second arc will be much crazier than East Blue), you can count nothing shorter than 2 years. Sure, it sucks, but hey ! I'd very much rather have to wait a bit longer and have them deliver, rather than a rushed product ! This season took them years to prepare, so if the same team keeps on going, we're in good hands.

note that the author was involved with casting and production, and also they couldn't screw it over given its status as the most popular manga by far

I hope they get more budget for season 2 coz the world is going to get bigger and bigger as the story progresses.

Feels like Season 1 was very very important for Oda, having backstories of the crew. Now S2 is more about World building, character building before W-b always. Guess Oda might not be involved much next time, but still his blessing will do.

I think we should appreciate netflix and the show runners for bringing the creator of the one piece, the oda on board, firstly they give him his respected place and secondly we get to know what his vision is, of how one piece should look like in live action. I can't wait for second session and I hope they'll continue this series and make it big, like breaking bad or got.

They did Garp so much justice in this show, he feels more badass. He also felt way more relevant than he did in the anime along with Koby and helmeppo.

The story gets better and better. Here you just have a tiny glimpse of the world. If you have questions now.... the future is crazy. I want the live action at least to show more of how big all OP world is. It truly feels alive.

You guys should definitely react to the anime. I know it's long but it's well worth it. It's so freaking good. You can do it with 3 episodes a day. That should be a little under an hour of watch time so it's not impossible.

No one escapes from getting emotional at that final scene. Cutting in the kids was such a genius idea, one that wasn’t in the original script! Glad you enjoyed the show!

Watching you guys tear up after connecting so well with the characters and having feelings for them because after all the trouble they get to follow their dreams makes me so sure they nailed this live action and the essence of one piece to perfection

Luffy was definitely trying to hit his grandfather. But, Garp is up there with Mihawk as one of the top-tiers of the verse.

2:30 In the anime, this little confrontation actually happened after Nezumi took Nami’s treasure, but before the “help me” scene. She fails to stop the villagers from trying to attack Arlong(someone else stops them later) which added to her desperation in the “help me” scene

Live action made you feel this way, Imagine what the Anime we have been watching for such a long period of time did to us. The Feels!

The end showing their dreams was just emotional and beatifull❤ The teaser with the cigar at the end, cool character😎 Monkey D. Garp was actually a little bit cooler and nicer in the live action and i found the change cool too. I hope they bring a great season 2 too. I want it too be good as season 1with the same cgi effects maybe a little better because of other things that only works with good cgi or other tricks and these are very important for the Story. The One Piece story gets better and better, believe me guys❤

I don't think I've seen any reactors pick up on the fact that Shanks is completely unfazed by Mihawk's appearance, and even thinks he can take him on one-armed, to the point he's cracking jokes about matching Mihawk in battle even with that handicap. We saw what Mihawk can do and how far above our crew the power levels in this world can go, so that should give you a hint of how powerful Shanks is.

I loved your reaction to the show. It was just so genuine ❤️ And I as a long time one piece fan (manga and anime) just loved that they get the atmosphere and the emotions right in the live action. even for not yet one piece fans. That was my biggest concern, that they can't conjure the special atmosphere and emotions of the manga/anime. But they did it beautifully and even the look of everything (except ben beckman 😅) was just amazing for me.

Laughing is important to the story. Characters laugh at important moments or times of realization. That’s why Garp laughed at the end. He realized that Zeph was right and that it’s the new generation’s time

His Grandfather wanted to make sure he knew how serious the Grand Line is and if he's ready. Everyone he faced so far are small fries compared to what's ahead and not just talking about high leveled super powered Pirates but also monsters and beasts.

While it doesn't show it in this, scurvy is still a thing in the One Piece universe, but it's rarely ever a thing because it's cause is widely known and accounted for in the One Piece world. But, some apparently don't know about it. In the anime, before Barratie, Sanji, etc they encounter someone who was dying of scurvy and Nami knew what it was right away, so they gave him limes and lime juice. The tangerine trees can also be seen as an extra side thing to address it since they left the part about limes and scurvy out. Add it as a cooking tool for Sanji to ensure they don't succumb to scurvy themselves. Since it doesn't really play a major part in the story, I wouldn't really consider it spoiler territory. Just info left on the cutting room floor for the TV series.

I have lowwww expectation for all Netflix adaptations but this one works. I quite enjoy it.

This is basically the prologue to One Piece proper, and it’s such a great adventure!

Don't look at the 1000 episodes as something you have to get through quickly, take the anime at your own pace treat it as a grand journey to understand the world of One Piece even more! And like the live action it is a journey well worth taking!!! I highly recommend starting the anime from the beginning because it is a little different but also you will get to see the different changes from the live action which is super fun to see!

the thing in one piece is that Oda did well with his writing characters was power scaling and backstory on each character. So Garp being a Vice Admiral and how he handled Luffy, show how strong he is. Not to mention, in the Anime they obviously go into more depth and you get WAAYYY more details surrounding the charcters and the world of one piece. The strongest thing about One Piece anime is the world building Oda did when he created the series. But condensing a few hundred episodes and an entire arc into just 8 live action episodes, some of it gets cut away. BUT overall an amazing job at staying true and telling the store in a very cohesive way

Im sure you guys wont see this but i just would like to point out for any new watchers that every devil fruit user we've met so far (and probably most of the ones in the future) will announce they are a user along with the name of their fruit and how it works at a basic level. Luffy and buggy are the only characters we've interacted with so far in the live action with devil fruit powers.

I strongly recommend watching the anime or at least reading the manga. Absolutely worth it. It's an amazing story.

When I see them crying because of that scene at the end, I can only cry like the first day 10 years ago when I met One Piece. You received the correct message from this wonderful work of Oda. I just hope that you can also try to believe that it is possible, you can follow your spirit and then you finally board this ship. I hope you can remember so you never forget. Believe in yourself, in your inner child and pursue your dreams. A new, wonderful and incredible world awaits everyone, you just have to believe.

One thing i will say, 1000 episodes seems like a lot but it goes by quick. When I was catching up binge watching on my own there was like 500 or 600 episodes and it only took me a couple weeks when I had time off. These live action episodes were an hour, but anime episodes are only 20 minutes. Many of the episodes later on will have a couple minutes of recap you can skip, so you can easily do 4 episodes in an hour. If you really end up loving the show its very easy to be caught up in just a couple months. There's also OnePace which I would highly recommend to newcomers as it condenses the show to remove filler and keep the story moving at a better pace (more true to the manga). You can watch most of the story that way in a fraction of the time because it removes unnecessary recap and padding that happens later on in the show due to the anime catching up to source material.

One thing I sort of wished they kept from the manga (which is such a small thing so surprised they didn’t) was Arlong basically telling Nami ‘I said you could buy Coco villiage. You may of have the money but it never made its way into my procession so tough. You can try again though.’ Just adds that a little bit more to his manipulations and hypocrisy

In the one piece world there are two types of pirates: Morganeers (typical loot and plunder anyone for gold) and Peacemains (going to the sea for adventure) Luffy and crew are clearly the latter. Also the writer of One Piece hates romance/shipping in his story. Actually a claus in contract saying the show runners can not bring romance within strawhat crew. So no Sanji and Nami will never be a thing

Loved the finale episode and can't wait for Season 2. I hope they take it slow with the series and have season 2 be about the adventures of the newly formed crew and enemies that they're going to go up against. They really shouldn't rush to introduce new crew members yet. They need to save that for Season 3 or at least have the last 2 or 3 episodes of Season 2 set up the intro of a new crew member. They can easily have this series be 10 seasons long with all the material they have to work with and the viewers will never get bored. Rushing to introduce the crew would be a bad move and skip over a lot of good and fun stories. They need to focus on a few of the smaller stories that come back up in the series later as well as the big stories that have major consequences to the future of the Luffy and the crew. The person with the cigars at the end is a new enemy that's going to give Luffy a whole lot of trouble when he meets him. If you decide to watch more of the anime up to the character with the cigar you'll know who that character is and see the sidekick/partner that is going to get a reaction out of Zoro. Achara's right that we all have dreams from when we were children that some were able to achieve, but most of us are either still trying to make come true or just gave up because of life getting in the way. Even though I'm in my 40's I'm still holding on to my dream of one day being able to get my universe of comic characters out into the world. My dream was to become the Black Stan Lee with my own comic company because I've been a comic book fan since I was 12 and read X-Men for the first time. I have 36 years worth of comic characters I've created and half of them are completely origin that DC and Marvel haven't done yet. Even if I'm not able to do it myself I can pass everything I've created on to one of my future kids if they have the same dream. They can use my characters to get ideas for their own characters or use them as extra characters to build their universe. The series makes me want to watch the series from the beginning for the third time, but I want to get back up to the current episodes before I do that. I just made it to Luffy's first fight with Kaido so once I'm caught up I'm going to watch the series again along with the live action to see how close they keep it to what happened. I really hope you two watched the Yu Yu Hakusho live action series as well. I'm going to rewatch that anime for a 3rd time in preparation for Season 1. Enjoyed the reaction 👍👍✌out.

Oh Boy, this is only the tip of the iceberg of one piece in reference of how many episodes the manga/anime has. Look forward to whats to come!

One thing to keep in mind in regards to the anime, it is true is a bit scary due to the episode number, but keep in mind that for the most part from each episode you get between 13 to 16 minutes of actual "content". Meaning the rest is opening, ending, recap, etc. So you kind of go through them pretty fast, if you skip those things.

i know you guys probably heard this but in my opinion the best way to go through one piece is to read the manga, the anime have alot of pacing flaws in it but is still good. but the manga is just better if you don't mind reading, it iakes 5 minutes or so to read a chapter and you can do it where ever you want whice makes it way easier to go through.

I'd love to see you guys watch the original stories. I know exactly watching all the 1000+ episodes need an extra dedication and commitment to finish them up. So i recommend you to watch One Piece anime for 45 episode only (until end of Arlong Park) and after that it's up to you to decide what to do next 😉
