Hey everyone, I am SUPER excited to get started with the One Piece anime after falling in love with the live action series! As you can tell, I'm already going a little crazy with the amount of comparisons to make, but I'm even more hyped to soon enough get around to all the new content and see what happens next! I'll be posting 4 episodes every week, and we're already 24 episodes ahead on www.Patreon.com/Robinoyo if you'd like to get early access! Thanks for watching and I hope to keep seeing you on this journey with me :D
about what is one piece... keep watching.. after someday you'll still don't know what is one piece but you'll know what is one piece.. I hope you catch up soon..
I’m literally tearing up thinking about the adventure you have ahead of you. I wish I could watch this show for the first time again. Changed my life in so many ways. 😍 Watching others’ reactions is the next best thing.
In the One Piece Universe: There are "Moments when you know you F***ed up." A lot of the characters have "Berserk Buttons" and tells when they're really angry. A few modest examples: Luffy Stops Smiling. Zorro Starts Smiling. You waste food or hit a woman in front of Sanji.
love that you're taking on the anime series! A good suggested format for this would be around 2-3 episodes per video, given your upload schedule. As the actual anime does release weekly episodes, watching more than 1 per week would help you catch up with the anime.
Small note - in subtitles its "lady" but Luffy actually said "oba-han" which is closer translated to "auntie" or "grandma", He is indeed brutally honest, even savage somethimes. Also "I hate you" that he said to Coby is more like "I dislike you". For hate there is a different word. Another small note about the hat - Oda stated that while the clothes are on Devil Fruit users, they have the proberty of Devil Fruits. So Luffys hat while on him is actually rubber one, not straw. Otherwise there would be alot of times in series when Devil Fruit users would be welll almost nude.
While it's always up to everyone's own preference, I'm glad you're going with the original Japanese voices. Mayumi Tanaka as Luffy is just far too iconic for me to even try the English dub nowadays. Hope you enjoy the journey!
Luffy's English dub voice pre timeskip SUCKS. No shade to the VA obviously, I'm sure they're amazing, but the voice just does not fit Luffy. Though I do think that some of the newer dub episodes actually have had better voice acting.
I like both Luffys but I see why people don't like the English VA. However, the VAs for Franky and Brook are superior in the English dub, hate to say it lol
Oda already said a long time ago that the One Piece isn´t a methaphoric concept like "the friends you made along the way". He wants to give the characters and readers a proper reward. my guess is: The OP will be shown on the last page of the last manga chapter. Or so we wll think. Instead, Oda leaves the readers a letter with the note: "You want to know what the One Piece is? Set sail and look for it! Somewere in the world I hid the greatest treasure of them all!"
Not to spoil anything but there had been clues in the latest manga chapters with regards to what One Piece is, nothing confirmed yet, but we have some pretty good going clues.
@@rabela1810 after introducing Void Century and Scattered Poneglyphs I'm pretty sure it is it. It's funny because if you think about it finding "One Piece" is really a Robin dream more than Lufffy's :P
One of the things Japanese VAs bring to the table are the little sounds between lines. For example, Luffy going huh? eh? hn?, making small grunts and snickering... a lot of English versions of anime remove those aspects in favour of just having lines read, while Japanese VA tend to express a bit more outside of lines, so they feel more natural since we do the same thing - little noises of confusion, frustration, joy, etc.
I'll tell you this: there are people in the world of One Piece that know everything about the One Piece treasure. About halfway through the journey so far, the crew meet one of those people. When offered to know the answer, Luffy immediately refuses because he wants to find out by himself.
The stories creator, Oda, in weekly releases has a section called an SBS, in which fans can ask questions and he will answer them. It was also a great place for us to learn more about the world of One Piece. But he mentioned that the one piece is not something silly like the friends we made along the way or something mundane as gold but it is something real. Now that we're over 1,100 chapters into the story, the theories are still flying as to what it is but whatever it is, is going to be huge.
And so a fantastic adventure begins. It is a long journey that even nowadays is not finished but it is worth it. Really excited to hear your thoughts about how the Anime is like since you watched the Live Action first.
Someone probably said it already as you are watching these episodes ahead but Luffy doesn't kill his opponents because he gives everyone the opportunity to change or still chase their dreams even if they are enemys.
No, pretty sure it's because he's crushing their dreams and sees that as worse than death. He's basically doing worse than killing them, in his own eyes, by destroying their dreams. After all, with how he views dreams as worth more than peoples' lives... he's just stone cold like that. Dreams > Life = no kill, crush dream instead
I think oda somehow say that one piece not something like " The friend we made along the way" He say that one piece was actually a thing like a physically
I am so happy that you are starting this anime and praying that you will see it all the way through! This journey is one like no other, I wish I could see it for the first time again.
The live action is an adaptation to the manga not the anime that’s why it’s pretty different. It’s still different in the manga as well but it’s more similar then the anime
And so your amazing journey begins. Welcome to the one piece fandom/family. You have no idea how amazing this journey will be, and part of me is envious that you get to experience it all for the first time. It may seem a bit hard to get into at first, but that's ok. Take your time to get to know one piece. And pay attention to details. Oda sets things up some times several hundreds of chapters in advance. Nami coming out of the door right after Luffy saying he'll find some crewmembers soon is NOT an accident. Oda foreshadows a lot! And don't worry about looking cool, this series will make you do things like laugh out loud...and just remember - we've all gone through the same emotions.
So glad you're watching the anime and I really enjoy your reactions to both the live and anime. I had heard so much about this anime for years before I ever checked it out. What I did see of the animation, just made me think that I could never get into it, but once you do, the story, characters, and world building just grab you! They did a fabulous job on the live action as well. Hope to see more from you and that you stay with the anime... it's a long journey but a very enjoyable one. Take care.
This is gonna be a wonderful journey! Some tips: 1. skip opening songs (you can watch it on certain episodes), episode titles, recaps, and previews, they tend to be spoilery. 2. skip filler episodes (what you call the "side story"), while some of the fillers are fun, you can skip them entirely because it doesn't impact the main story, you can find the filler episodes information on the internet 3. the pacing is different on the anime compared to the netflix show, just enjoy it. 4. watch out for pandaman! they're everywhere ;) 5. have fun!
And thus the adventure begins. Welcome to the crew👒 For now I suggest not reading the titles once you get to episode 5. Cause they do spoil what the episodes are going to be but for now it's kinda obvious and straight forward
For something for you to note, the filler arcs sometimes rarely downplay important events that occur later on. Like, something Zoro does with iron in the Warship Island arc downplays the importance of an event in Alabasta. And Luffy hearing something that occurs in that same arc also downplays the sheer importance of something that occurs as far in as halfway through the Grand Line. I'm not saying to skip the filler. Just to be aware of filler having such like this now and then.
you'll definitely be told by a billion people, who will help you along the way, how to watch the story without spoiling yourself. They'll give you the guidelines and make sure you make it to the end of the East Blue and onward before you're able to "spoil yourself" so no worries.
The one piece hasn’t been revealed, but honestly, Oda is such a great writer that I have no doubt he can satisfy reader’s expectations with the reveal of it
Oh I cannot wait for what lies ahead on this journey of yours, sure it will be long but each arc and this isn’t a joke “the plot will thicken” more and more to where it will leave you more questions but will be answered in the most awesome way. Welcome to One Piece🏴☠️🔥
oh you have no idea how different the anime is. the live action is good, but the anime is on a completely different level. and a whole tier or two above is the manga.
U should always consume midia in its original form, it's always the best way! Can't wait for this journey with u dude! It's sooooo much different! Ure gonna love it!
I think the reason why the original voice acting is better than the english dub is that they record the voice before the animation so the voice actors (声優, seiyū) can actually act the part. Whereas localized voiceover needs to fit into the existing animation, restricting what can be said. Hope you enjoy the show it'll be quite the journey!
Really? I remember seeing clips of the original VAs dubbing with the existing animation so there shouldn't be any difference with the english dub method
While that is true in some cases, I don't think it is for OP. The real reason Japanese VA is better is because they add the small sounds that people make outside of lines. Grunts, groans, giggles, sounds of frustration, annoyance, joy, sadness, etc are something we do a lot irl but don't realise a lot of the time, and usually shows like OP leave those in and add them, but English lines tend to cut a lot of them out (if they have them at all), concerned more with fitting the lines to the mouth movements than adding - because they usually subtract more in order to make things fit better. That subtraction includes those small sounds, so it feels less organic and 'real'.
I'd recommend you put as many episodes as you can in each reaction. What people really want to see is the stuff after 230+. Peak piece, one peak, aka. best story ever
that's one of the differences between anime/manga and LA luffy. while in the live action luffy is more soft-spoken and supportive when it comes to encouraging others, anime/manga luffy is more like the shia labeouf meme "just do it!". blunt, direct, kinda rude but it's done with the intent to help people learn to not care what others say about them, himself included, and just follow their own path.
Loved your OPLA reactions so here I am watching along with you now. If you want to avoid filler episodes (don't worry - there aren't that many) you can google one piece filler list and skip those
Have fun with One Piece, enjoy it and watch as much as you like or can. Theory craft and think a bit about the wording they use as it’s quite a bit deeper than first expected. As for reaction videos, most people do 2-3 episodes per 20-30min of video which will get you catched up in a year or two.
Nah. It's been confirmed that the One Piece is in fact a real and tangible object. It's not something like "the friends you made along the way" or whatever lol. And, it's not just a bunch of treasure either. There's a lot more to it, but we're still not sure as to what that is
Oda explicitlely said, he doesn't like the 'Friends along the way'-trope. So it is rather likely this isn't the OP (he likes to troll his fans though. so who knows.. whooo knows.)
so so so so soooo hyped for this one! The fact that you are already enjoying the comedy and the character designs I KNOW you'll love it! Personally, I'd say skip the filler arcs in the anime (only 10% of the overall episodes are fully filler, far less than naruto) and enjoy!!! THE ONE PIECE IS REAL! One of the reasons the dub dialogue could sound fake is because they have to match the mouth movements of the characters in the shot, and since japanese has far shorter words for more complex meanings the english actors can't fully use the true translation, they have to use shorter more simple wording to match the mouth movements. it's an interesting problem.
Far less than Naruto? 5 minute of recap, 2.30 minutes of opening, + every episode in later arc before Wano adapts only 1 chapter per episode, sometimes not even a full chapter. Cut the "10% filler" crap.
Do you know there's a One Piece remake being developed right now for Netflix by Studio Wit, who also did the first 3 seasons of Attack on Titan? I guess you're gonna be reacting to 3 versions of One Piece at once? 😂
The East Blue is the weakest sea in the world. And devil fruits in that area are extremely rare. So when Luffy shows up as a rubber man they're all like, oh so devil fruits are real.
Yeah so we still have no idea just theori3w regarding the one piece even in the manga conisdering we just finished the first arc of the final saga. Close to 1120 chapters in.
It would be helpful for you to note that the live action followed the intro of the manga more than the anime, hence why it's so different. The live action adapted the MANGA not the anime (anime is also an adaptation). The anime also deviated a bit and censored a lot for the earlier East Blue arcs.
If you think the live action adaptation Of this show, one piece is 1 To one No it's not don't expect it to be adaptations Hardly ever are It's just a matter of getting the right spirit of the show and as much accurate information in In a different format of storytelling or Having to connect events different because of cut content Depending on the number of episodes available for the new format .
you may want to blur or reverse the image or something a bit more or cut it in and out to avoid a copyright strike, i know it is a lot more work, and i am positive you know what you are doing, but Toei animation goes after reactors hard and they don't need much to do so with youtube
21:40 I'm caught up in the Anime. All we know is the name of the island where the One Piece supposedly is*. And that a number of powerful pirates have proclaimed that it is, in fact, real. (Spoiler) * It's Called "Laugh Tale"
Oda will probably not satisfy evryone but a lot of people will be satisfyed i think . Oda made it clear the one piece isn't something like frendship. But knowing oda, thé one pièce is probably something he already put UP under our nose the whole Time and WE didn't sée it
Welcome to the best show ever and i watch many many show naruto dbz aot mob jujutsu demon slayer harry potter lord of rings star wars..... and one piece destroy all this show i dont know why maybe beca the story is the best
One thing you'll learn as you watch is that live action Luffy is immensely toned down. An animated / drawn character can get away with being an adorable rude asshole in ways that for a real person would be incredibly jarring and offputting. As such, Luffy in the live action is a lot more socially well-adjusted, paying attention and generally more outwardly thoughtful. The original Luffy is all of those things to some degree.. but he's an idiot that lives in the moment first and foremost. However, another thing you'll find out very quickly is that live action Luffy is immensely toned down... wait, I already said that. But this time, I am referring to how he he manages to carry himself as the lead character of the story. The live action struggles with the need to be economical about CGI use in regards to his rubbery body and stretchy limbs. You can sort of treat Luffy like a kid with ADHD who uses his devil fruit all the time in the most trivial of ways just for the fun of it. I won't spoil it with actual examples since you'll become more acquainted as time goes by, but it provides a degree of liveliness and personality that the live action has no quite figured out a way to translate. Most notably, his casual confidence in everything he does and the way in which he just exceeds the common sense standard of a random kid with a strawhat is an undeniable part that makes it believable why Zoro joins him. Everyone on his crew believes Luffy has what it takes to be their captain, and we as an audience feel the same... but with live action Luffy it takes a lot more effort to convince us that he is the lead rather than Zoro, Sanji or even Nami.
So first i wanted to tell you to please skip openings unless its one of rhe last episodes of the arc as its spoilers. also the titles are spoilers so skip them. Pacing might be tough and animation might be harsh sometimes but id you keep at it. Keep your eyes open for foreshadowing.
