Okay, time for a wall of text. :D From the looks of it, it's one of the better games based on One Piece. While I'm a huge fan of Pirate Warriors games, it's hard to get super excited about musou (at least mechanics wise). One Piece game output, I'd say was adequate in latest years. 1 on 1 fighting game was okay. Unlimited World Red was serviceable too. The one after that was disappointing. This on the other hand? Looking super cool. I wish more games based on anime franchises would've had original plot and this style of gameplay. Too many anime franchises got stained with mediocre games. Kill la Kill, My Hero Academia, One Punch Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, Hunter x Hunter (while the game isn't released yet, trailers are oozing mediocrity), JJBA (All-Star Battle is great, but Eyes of Heaven is bad), etc. The list continues. All of the upper mentioned games were turned into boring 1on1 fighting games/arena fighters. While there IS franchises that got great/solid gameplay, Naruto (Ultimate series), Demon Slayer, JJBA, Attack on Titan, Dragon Ball (although I don't remember if Kakarot has the original story or not) etc. These games fell victim of reusing the anime plot with no original stories. Which is super sad. Glad to see this changed here. Oh, and big thank you for the review. Always looking forward to your vids for checking the technical aspect of games that are interesting to me.
The moment I purchase my copy on PS5 ... the switch port announced 5 Days later... and you cannot refund ... damn .. this would be PERFECT on a handheld
@@CassidyDylyn A game that originally launched on the bigger consoles that has pretty intense graphics to get a downgrade to be playable on the Switch, which uses hardware that's 2 generations old
had this game before on PC. but cant find the time to sit down glued to a gaming chair and monitor, now id buy it on switch and can play it wherever id have the time. thanks for the review! cheers! 🎉
I just started watching One Piece because of the cool Pirate Warriors games on the Switch. I love Warriors games, so I need to learn about this series to get into the games, at least I think.
Hey Mark, what brand is that clear controller you have your switch attached to? Btw, you guys are my favorite switch related channel... So keep it switchUP!
Feels weird when Luffy doesnt dives first on a battle and just waits for command. But feels good and strategies are simple. Enjoyable game wish sometimes they have a Sogeking minigame sniping
I have been enthralled with One Piece since I first visited Japan in 2011 where it was everywhere. This looks great if you are a fan of the characters. I have only played Unlimited World Red, but this looks to be a better game. Thoughts?
Finishing dq 11 is soo sad to do cuz the journey with all those characters has come to an end. I feel like I’ve forgotten enough though where I could play it again soon
You guys are reading my mind. I literally added this to my wishlist yesterday because I'm a huge One Piece fan.... looks like I will be getting a bit more broke....
Lovely! This looks very tempting. I'm not jetting off anyway this summer (spent out from Japan earlier in the year still!) so maybe some staycation time with this in the evening (kids asleep - Switch is all mine!) will do me nicely.
Thanks for the really indepth review! I didnt know this was coming to the Switch. Dont have funds for it now. But might check it out in the future. I love One Piece ❤
only 3 or so hours in and while it is fun and looks great I have to say you level so fast it's crazy. That electric collosus thingie only took like 3-4 hits, feel so overpowered that no real strategy seems needed and personally I'd have liked a English bud, but it definitely has its charm.
Thank you for saving me my money 💜 the kind of “meh” story and lack of English voice acting was a dealbreaker for me in a JRPG. Thank you for a great review as always 💜 Keep up the good work!
I'll have to play TX at one point. I'm still on the final chapter of Daybreak (man... 145h and still not finished... it's even longer than Cold Steel 4). My favorit LoH after Trails in the Sky 2 so far.
As a huge fan of One Piece for 13 years now and a big fan of dragon quest for about 15 years, this game was like a dream come true! I can recommend it without hesitation to any One Piece fan, unfortunately, for anyone else, it is true that the difficulty struggles to ever be a challenge, though the late DQ11 suffered with similar issues honestly
I tend to tell people: If you plan to get into the series, then these games will spoil it for you. Not the first time it’s happened. It’s for the fans.
Yes, I would like to know as well and if you can play without downloading anything? I would image everything should be on the Game Card being that this game already launched about a year ago.
I know its a fantastic series, but I've never seen a single episode of one piece and at this point for how many episodes there are, I'm not sure I ever will. Was just wondering if this game would be a great fit for someone whose never seen the series and doesn't think they ever will have time to, but wants to interact with the IP
I have never played a one piece game in all my time being a fan. for some reason I just don't really feel the need, which is weird cuz I love all sorts of jrpgs. but comparing this to dragon quest (rip Toriyama) helped my brain flip the switch it needed
It does seem a missed opportunity to take characters out of the mainline story, strip them of their powers, and then not just follow through with a unique, self-contained story? I can see why it didn't really hook you.
Hoping for some really incredible games or a game that sees out the the current switch and heralds the next... that hope is becoming harder to maintain but one tries 😞
5 minutes in and there's already a huge plot hole. If everyone's powers were stolen, Chopper should have reversed into becoming a regular reindeer. Having sentience is one of his powers because of the human human fruit he ate.
Who gives a shit? Do you think any anime based game that needs an excuses si that the player can replay the story in a feasibly condensed manner is gonna be 100% logical?
Look at this, then look at Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. I think it's safe to say that BDSP'S massive issues are probably more due to decisions The Pokémon Company insisted upon rather than ILCA being terrible developers.
You all see how this game looks good/stylish ? Then this is the same game dev from Pokémon BDSP (ILCA). ILCA can made great thing when they have a budget and not GameFreak always behind them ahah. That's why I'm not afraid if they work on the upcoming Mario and Luigi RPG: Brothership. 😁
Bought it last year for PC to ogle at post-timeskip Nami and Nico Robin. Decent game but I found the pacing too slow. Which apparently is par the course for One Piece.
Easy in turn based games is a huge turn off cuz it really doesnt compliment the strategy and thinking that makes turn based combat fun why is it so hard for devs to make difficulty settings for their games
Wish they'd give the one piece games an option to have the English Voice cast. I have 0 idea why they don't do it. It's about as popular as Naruto and DragonBall and My Hero and the English cast is well loved, why Bandai Namco penny pinches here I'll never know.
I'm looking at this and then at Fairy Tail game (with FT2 coming later this year) and I'm just sad. I like both, but FT port to Switch is atrocious. Glad to see One Piece getting a far better treatment port wise. I won't play this one any time soon, seeing as I'm watching episode 96 of One Piece. But still a good fit in my backlog.
@@monkeydluffy5054 i ddnt understand i think, do u mean that on switch outside of turn base there s only warrior games ? or did u mean that in the anime genre its either turn base or warrior? Actually i agree w both, me i m an action adventure rpg fan, especially fantasy and dark fantasy, like skyrim, zelda, witcher 3...and i also love survivals, like grounded, terraria, but switch seems to have mainly turn base , farm sims, and point and click adventure. Which is a pity.🤷♀️That s the reason i m saving up for another system 🤷♀️
Dissapointing...the movement is laggy on the aged switch and animation is somewhat sloppy. Storyline is boring as well. Commenting as a big ass OP fan. Sigh*
