That wasn't Luffy into Shanks into Luffy. But someone DID pass the hat to Shanks before he passed it to Luffy. Remember, Shanks did say that the hat belonged to a dear friend of his.
Dude. One Piece is seriously one of the best pieces of Literature of mankind. Im not exaggerating. The story is so deep, full of emotions, action, god tier foreshadowing, god tier world building.... it has it all. And it ages like wine. Gets better and better
For Robin, it's because she was white in the manga, but the anime adapted her before there was official color art for her, so after a while they decided to give her the manga accurate colors instead of her anime only tan
This just my opinion. But in the Drum Island arc. Sanji mentioned that women rub snow into their skin to give that clear white skin. Which was after Robin's debut. I think that including her past before her debut. Robin must of been on a lot of summer based islands in the Grand line. Which explains her tanned skin in the anime pre timeskip. Oda might of added this into the manga after noticing Robin's design flaw in the anime. As he wanted her to be white. Although, Robin looks good in both skin tones/colours in my opinion.
That too but people can lose a tan ... if you go from a Desert and then sail 2-3 Months you will lose your tan and on top of that youre 2 years on a island that has eternal winter with negative degrees outside ? Black people would get albinism in those conditions (JOKE)
On the note of "Nobody dies", that's not quite right. Death does happen, it just happens more rarely, making it more impactful. Oda I believe once said Luffy doesn't kill not because of a moral reason, but rather because Luffy believes that those he beats having their dreams, ambitions, and plans destroyed and irrepairable, and having to live with the knowledge that there is someone out there that will be able to break them down again if needed is a fate far worse than death. Sentencing them to be forced to live with their failures.
It's not whitewash, it's because when the anime do her, oda hasn't confirmed her skin colour yet, only a in shade picture that make her look tan. Also her ethnicity in the real world is Russian
He literally has confirmed what her skin color should be with many different colored panels and cover art he has done. The animators simply screwed up before time skip
Quick comment about the "white washing" of Robin. Oda and Toei were adressed the question. Robin was never meant to be tanned in the first place. Remember that the manga is black and white and Toei chose to giver her a tanned skin cause she's introduced in a desertic arc. But Oda said later the "origins in the real world" of every character of the crew and Robin would be russian. For info : Luffy would be brazilian , Zoro japanese , Sanji french , Brook Austria , Franky american , Chopper canadian and Usopp would be from south africa
True but you have some information wrong. Oda just said Africa for Usopp. The only place in Africa that Oda specified was Somalia when talking about where Blackbeard would be from.
Let me clear a few things up, Oda the creator of One Piece said that the One Piece treasure is not the "friends we made along the way", it is an actual treasure and something that is world changing. He also repeatedly stated that there is no romance among the Strawhat Crew, Sanji is just a womanizer lol. Robin was always white, the animators made a mistake and Oda made them fix it after the timeskip.
Thanks for highlighting this important information! I am curious about one thing tho. How did the fans react when the author said that there is no romance among the crew? Cuz you know with anime in general people love to ship and see some romance happening among the main cast but Oda saying that kinda destroys any hope of anyone ending up together. Was there an outrage or something?
@@CrypticBoss It doesn't stop people from shipping characters of course. But most people was okay with it lol. Oda claims he doesn't know how to do romance but there are times where you can swear he's lying lol
@@CrypticBossYou know. After 1000+ episodes you see them all like a family and hard ships would start to feel kinda weird. There's a lot canon ships outside the crew tho
Not the same spot. This is Marineford, which is on the Grand Line. Gold Roger was executed in the East Blue in Logue Town. Same type of event, different locations.
Post Time skip Nami and Robin got new designs due to the animation quality, they aged by 2 two years, and for fan service. Plus, Robin was meant to have white skin. Though liked her tanned as well.
I feel this comment!! When I saw this video recommended, it gave me a happy feeling and then after watching his reaction it made me even more happy 😭❤️
@@CrypticBoss They edited a new version when the new ending got there but it DOESN’T really cut anything truly because like the 2 opening before it showed previews and changed every episode. (For the detail when the images appeared in between borders : cracks in the 1, in between waves in the 2nd and in the one that was shorten they're wasn't any borders but it still was a preview of the ep. Honnestly I'm glad they took them out 'cause I had to close my eyes each episode lol )
Robin wasn’t white washed she was always white. When she was introduced she had spent years in a desert kingdom so she has a tan. During the two year two skip she spent it in a winter environment with very little sun and lost her tan.
Someone already pointed out that Robin wasn't "White Washed" her tan was an anime error. Though there is actually another coloring error that remains even now. In the manga(color spreads), she has brown eyes. In the anime and on official merch(Figures), she has blue eyes. I suppose changing her eye color after a time skip is simply too big of a leap compared to a more mild complexion change.
recoloring robin (no matter if that was oda's idea or not) was a stupid idea and it wasn't mild. she became snowwhite also usopps getting whiter every few years. another animation error?
@@emkalina Are you implying that White people cannot get tans? Because that's the justification that MUST be applied in order to say that Robin was "whitewashed". It must imply that Robin was not white to begin with. Tan or not, she is and always was white. I know that's very controversial into today's world for a character to be White, but them's the brakes. Don't worry, apparently they're going to race swap her to Latino in the Live Action for reasons unknown. Probably to meet some sort of quota Netflix gave them. They went by their proclaimed Ethnicity according to Oda for all the East Blue Strawhats. Luffy-Brazillian, Nami-Swedish, Zoro-Japanese, Sanji-French, and Usopp-African. So how exactly "Russian" translates to Latino/Hispanic is beyond me. Last I checked, Russians were generally as pale as the snow they live in, and generally taller/larger than average individuals. Which suits Robin, given she's 6'2".
I'm so glad you liked all the songs for me they also are all so good. And after you go throught the serie they also mark part of your life and events. My favorite opening and arc is the 20th opening "Hope" in the Whole cake Island arc. I love the arc for like you pointed out the emotions that it was but also the really distinct vibe it has. But tbh I'm also really biased about it 'cause my favorite character is Sanji. Oh how much I love this loveable pathetic simp of a man. Such complexity😅😊. But also really the vast majority of characters are masterfully develloped and their own person. The characters are so strong that it's more them that form the plot more than the contrary really. Also they have such chemistry that just watching them goof around together is always a blast. I'm trully happy that you're comming along for the journey ;)
This is so wholesome ❤️ I'm glad you found my channel and I can't wait to have you as a part of this journey too! It'll definitely be a slow one but we'll get there
I think you'd also like the 4kids opening to One Piece. 4kids' translation of the anime is absolutely horrendous with unnecessary censoring, to the point an entire arc was cut out despite it being important. ....but there's no denying that the opening they made for it was catchy, in all its variations.
Robin was always white in the manga (on colorpages etc.) , the Anime then used the 2 years time skip as an opportunity to"fix" the mistake made before. Love both Robin designs.
OMG ONE PIECE?!? I will subscribe to your patreon forever if you watch it I am not even joking. This anime is more than anime it is a way of life. The most beautiful journey. This video was proof you will like it because you already enjoyed the video so much! I love your reactions and would do anything to see you watch one piece 😭❤️
They did use the first opening in the LA you hear it when they get the going merry for the first time & at the very end of epsiode 8 when they're setting off to the grandline, so they did use it but just the instrumental not the actual song with lyrics
@@baox3613 That's true I would've liked to hear the song lyrics as well since it's such an iconic song but ig they probably didn't have the rights to use the actual lyrics or something
I can't wait for the next reaction to one piece... Well the thing with Sanji x Nami is totally out of context... If you watch the anime you will quickly deduce the truth... Sanji is crazy about all the girls... And Zoro and Sanji even they fight almost at every opportunity ... everything started as a challenge ... to be honest now that I think about it I overlooked this detail ... Anyway ... in short they are rivals - very competitive ... and because they are quite close as before, the fight is not over... Although there are also many differences in behavior and ideologies that can cause misunderstandings... Then ... everyone's powers evolve in a logical way ... in fact the whole sera evolves logically ... No character is OP just like that ... there is a logical explanation behind it ... The same with the story of each character... And there are no 'pure villains' ... it's a bit complicated ... In the beginning video when the characters appear, not all of them are enemies ... some are important characters in the story, others are rivals, the family or the origin of someone in the crew ... I also said in other comments for One Piece ... there are not many villains in the series who are evil by nature, there is a reason behind it ... and others are simply free and trying to make their dreams come true ... As for death in anime... I'm not saying anything for sure, but don't take it as a children's series - because it's not (in my opinion) - there are so many stories and dark parts... I mean, I don't even know how many times I cried while watching the anime... Seriously don't underestimate the power to move feelings...
Robin was always white, the anime fucked up lmao. 😂 They tried to excuse it that she got tan during Alabasta (desert island), and over time she lost her tan. Toei L 😅
"I always skip openings because they spoil everything" Proceeds to watch 25 openings of the most mystery ridden fiction in existence that has plot reveals left and right
It's so weird that you did this now because they just announced that the new episode on January 7th will have a new opening by Hiroshi Kitadani, the same guy who did Openings 1, 15, and 22. My favorite Openings are 15, 18, 20, 24, and 25.
the reason robin got white washed is because the colored art of robin didnt come out when she showed up so the anime just guessed and brook is a musician so thats why he has the violin
@@CrypticBoss hes not but op 7 the one that is op 1 but with new voices is sung by the straw hat's voice actors up until that point and brook has my favorite song not just in one piece my favorite period and when you get to it it will make you cry
Robin wasn't white-washed per say. She was white in the manga but the anime adapted her as tan, so it was changed to how she was supposed to look from the start.
@@CrypticBossI don't know exactly, but Oda himself has adapted certain ethincities to his characters. Luffy for example is supposed to be of Brazilian descent, and Robin was supposed to be Russian. There is also early art made by Oda which depicts her as white, so that confirms she wasn't supposed to be tanned in the first place. It was probably some random decision the animators made, and nothing more. That would also explain why she was corrected to her intended ethnicity after the timeskip happened.
39:50 I hope this has already been written to you, but I repeat, Robin's skin color was originally white, she was just in a hot country for a long time and tanned and then the tan came off
27:24 "this feels like a kpop intro" because it IS! This song is by one of the 2000's Kpop groups TVXQ who used to be very big in Japan back in the day. They have sung a couple of openings and endings for One Piece. It's of course a Japanese song, but it can also be considered Kpop due to TVXQ being a Korean band.
@@orientallily4860 Enjoy!! They're definitely worth it and I believe the new episode drops today so I'll try to record and upload it there asap as well
LOLL IM SO GLAD YOU SAID THAT "Is it kpop ?" Cuz it IS actually and on top of that you said "SHinee" this is not Shinee but a very close group from the same company as SHinee wich is TVXQ wich was the absolute god group of kpop back in the 2000s 2010s
You can do sick stuff with subtitles in youtube but nobody ever does. Same with subtitles in regular anime, the fansub groups back in the day used to do karaoke subs for the openings and endings and like crazy fonts for the attacks
it's strange that I came across this video at all, I don't even speak English, most likely it's because of my passion for One Piece, but anyway I decided to watch it. It was fun, and although there were a lot of people who wrote about Robin in the comments, I want to say that the animators didn't just mock her. The studio that created One Piece is known for the wrong choice of colors for coloring characters, for example, all the characters were made a little darker than in the original, even Usopp has the same light skin color as Robin in the manga. Robin also has brown eyes in the manga and blue eyes in the anime. I don't know English well, there may be mistakes, I apologize in advance.
I appreciate you sharing your experience with One Piece. I've been reading every comment and it puts a smile on my face seeing how passionate people are about it. Also, your English is PERFECT!!!
Sometimes it's funny seeing people who don't watch onepiece saying what the one piece is cus I'm all caught up manga and anime and I'd say 1000s episodes it's not enough and tbh I kinda want the show to be more than 3000eps minimum because I know what going on and there's just so much unanswered questions and mystery in the show
Robin was never whitewashed she was made overly tan in the anime pre time skip when in the manga colored panels and cover art you can see that she was never supposed to have that tan skin
@CrypticBoss from what I know, there exists an official colour version of the manga, though some fans like to alternate between the colour pages and the regular version for some arcs, like Thriller Bark, to fit the mood
I believe the reason Robin got white-washed is because she no longer was in a climate for a tan, and the total time-line they were sailing is about 8 months, so loosing a tan over the 2 year time skip is possible
Nope it's not a tan , she was "tanned in the childhood flashbacks too . The anime team just did not know which color she actually was from the manga back when it was published , and picked a skin tone . Once they noticed they used the timeskip redesigns to correct it
Robin wasn’t whitewashed. She was always white. In the manga she was never tan and getting unbanned isn’t whitewashing. Oda said Robin would be Russian if she was from the real world and Russians are white
i just realized that the goverment is the people who dont watch one piece, since they basically treat chopper a pet or mascot or as you said a baby HAHAHAHAH
Robin was not white washed...btw idk who even said that lmao... Her being tan was an anime exclusive thing that they "fixed" later down the line. Robins background is Russian, and she has a mini arc that ties into her real life nationality.
I have to say i have no idea who those two random people in opening 8 were. they are not a part of one piece and definitely not a part of the openings. someone edited them into that opening.
the greatest story ever told, One Piece is a long voyage, but it is one that everyone should partake. it starts as a simple Shonen, but it becomes so much more, Action, Drama, Comedy, Fantasy and most of all Adventure. anybody choosing to pass because it seems too long, they are missing out and i feel very sorry for those people.
I feel as though that if you are looking to get into One Piece, watching all of the openings before you do is not a good idea, you could get away with it at like op 24, but now a lot of the newer openings are heavily catered towards manga readers and contain a lot of spoilers as a result. But either way, good video 👍
Straw Hat ages pre timeskip: • Monkey D. Luffy (17) • Roronoa Zoro (19) • Nami (18) • Usopp (17) • Sanji (19) • Tony Tony Chopper (13 if he was human) • Nico Robin (28) • Frankey (32) • Brook (88) • Jinbie (44)
@@CrypticBoss Spoiler: Brook technically died a long time ago. But he was revived after his body became nothing but bones. And since had no flesh or organs. He is practically immortal as long as his body isn't destroyed. Like a living doll.
Please we Want a Reaction to ( One Piece Endings1 - 19 ) / It is Very Beautiful. You will Like it Very Much. / The voice actors of Luffy and his friends sang in OPENING 7
are they still fighting that dragon? yes. like 3-4 years irl. thanks god it's over finally (the arc was good, just 50% too long) also, tan robin was better
Don't watch the 4kids opening! As someone who lived through that horrible dub... don't. Also the part with Robin and the tiny people is sort of a call back to what i think is Gulliver's Travels where he gets tied down by the Littleputins. When Luffy "bites" himself, he's filling himself with air like a balloon. The "blue whale" as you called him is named Jimbei and he's a whale shark. Arlong in the live action actually mentions him and i quote "JIMBEI IS A FOOL!" Ace isn't coming back...
Robin was never tan in the manga and was an anime only thing. The anime fixed this by making it seem she was tan due to arabasta and after time skip she had been away from arabasta long enough for it to wear off. Arabasta btw is a desert island.
Robin was never "whitewashed." They initially gave her the wrong skin tone, and they fixed it. (She's Russian) I honestly don't know why people are so up in arms about this. It is fact that it was a mistake that got fixed. In every Monga to Anime adaptation, there's at least one inconsistency with the story, characters, names etc. You want an example? Full Metal Alchemist. Not Brotherhood, the original Anime.
They did play We Are in the Live Action though!!! Go back and watch the scene where Usppp unfurls the sails on the Merry Go and reveals their new Jolly Roger. They play an acoustic version of We Are as a background track in that scene
The whitewashing problem is not Robin friends, it is Usopp, bro is canonically African, but he gets whiter the more you watch xD Robin's tan was just the animators' mistake that they fixed post-timeskip.
Luffy literally just pick up anyone who want to join or who he think need to be on his ship, like there is one time he want a squad of dugong in his crew, a zombie unicorn and a talking zombie tree. But off course not all of them excepted, and at some point in the animated series Luffy had over 500 crew member just a few minutes before he just quit all of them, that non canon basically. And they will built an alliance when it come to fight with anyone from the local citizen of place they visiting. So instead of we knowing the main characters, we also known the side character like in detail, they name, waht they job, back story and what happen to them after. And in my opinion only One Piece can do that without making the character look like a side character. And some villain appear again and again like, Luffy kick their ass, they presume lost and got captured or fled, Oda will give other roles to them. And you should react to all of the crew outfit by characters I think nami video slide show just her outfit is about 8 minutes long.
The studio changed just prior to Wano and went to the company who animated the OP film: Stampede. It's been them ever since and it's never looked better.
There is no talk no justsu in one piece bruh. Luffy does action he doesn't talk that much, in one piece there is no typical villian. Almost all characters are grey, some are dark, but the creator oda made them simple, light.
I think the two random guys in Crazy Rainbow are the singers of the song in anime form, they're usually not in it, and this is a special version of that intro.
No the treasure is not the friends you made along the way. Already confirmed by the creator, and within the story, there is a real treasure. We just don’t know what it is.
They did use "We Are" in the live action version, it was a very subtle musical easter egg, because that show was just filled to the brim with easter eggs.
