One Piece Reaction Mashup Episode 505 - "Dadan Beats Up Garp" 

I don't care when they'll show Luffys mother, his real mother will always be Dadan.

The crazy part is how scared of Garp Dadan is, but all that went out the window here because, whether it’s 1% or 99%, Garp is partially responsible for Ace’s death.

Dadan's scene was so emotional that no one questioned why her cigarette didn't fall off.

Rewatching makino coach Ace on being polite made me connect the dots on how extremely polite he is throughout one piece, completely flew over my head the first time.

this ep is so powerful that it forces the tears from my eyes. i try to stop them with sheer willpower since im at work and dont want any weird interactions about y im crying. i failed...

I really love how Jimbei's been there to support Luffy through his toughest times and is now a part of the crew. Just as he is the helmsman for the Sunny, he helped steer his captain in the right direction.

I can’t believe I almost shed a tear watching this when I didn’t do it when watching this for the first time 😭

One line that Dadan said that BROKE me into a thousand pieces (and I heard this in the dubbed version, not sure if it was also in the subbed version and I missed it) but it's when she says something along the lines of why, "Why would you have me raise Ace if it was gonna end like this!.."

what gets me about this scene, is that Garp never raises his hands to defend himself or even fight back, this is a man who knows he deserves the punishment, he probably would have let Dadan kill him had Makino not stepped in he wouldn't let Dadan be punished either, he came back to face her instead of cowering away, this speaks volumes of his character

This right here is why Jimbei is Luffy's best crewmate, he's seen him at his absolute lowest mental state and brought him out of it. His experience and maturity, similar to Robin, gives safe grounding to the crew.

I hate how some viewers actually blame Garp for Ace's death for two reasons. Firstly because they really don't understand Garp's struggle. It wasn't merely ''family vs duty and you chose duty'' for Garp. It was family vs family. All of Garp's friends, mentors and proteges, they're all Marines. Aoki'ji, Smoker and Coby are Garp's legacy to the world far more than Ace, Luffy and Dragon who never followed his path. There wasn't anyone he could attack on either side during the war that wouldn't have either been someone he loved or someone who was protecting/trying to save someone else he loved. Garp couldn't kill Sengoku and Tsuru, who have been his comrades since he was a frigging teenager, any more than he could kill Ace or Luffy. I mean let's flip it around here, let's say that instead of Garp's friends and Ace fighting each other to the death, all of the Strawhats and Ace became mortal enemies who were fighting each other. What do you think Luffy would do in that situation? How could he possibly attack either side? And secondly, I frankly don't think Ace would have wanted Garp to save him. Pirates and marines are mortal enemies, Ace knew that from the start. Garp is a marine who wanted Ace to also become a marine, Ace also knew that. And yet he chooses to become a pirate. If Garp then turned around and saved Ace after Ace did that it would be the most insulting thing that could ever happen to Ace. It would invalidate all of his life's choices. Ace is not the kind of hypocrite who'd become a criminal and then run and hide behind a family member who's in the police for crying out loud! Don't get it twisted here, Ace is the one who chose to become Garp's enemy, not the other way around!

Marine, admiral, yonko, viceadmiral...none of that matters to an angry and hurt mom

Shanks telling all guys that experiencing defeat, running away and crying is okay, that's how a man becomes a man, but that at the end of it all one must move on, is such a moment that's not talked about enough. In a world where men are expected to be emotionless and always stern and steadfast no matter what pain may come, ESPECIALLY IN JAPAN, this is massive.

One piece timing of showing backstory is so good I was crying at that part 4:39

i think garp was trying to save ace by letting himself being hit by luffy at that time , it was his own way to help without going against the marines

Jimbei is the only straw hat who joined after he did so much for Luffy. For the other it was always Luffy who helped them before they joined, Jimbei is the only one who gave him so much before joining. Luffy still saved him from the jail but he saved Luffy’s life at least 4 times during the war, helped him recover, stayed behind to stand against Big Mom and came to participate to the war against Kaido. That’s beautiful to create so many special characters that are so likeable. Big S/O to Oda ❤️

Some normal punch should never had make garp bleed. He let her punch him🤧 and the fact that dadan who had been so afraid of garp punch him in the face, makes this scene has more impact

Looking at these scenes now, i'm pretty much proud now that luffy is able to withstand all the obstacles that were once way above him, turning upside down almost everything that brought him a trauma.

Nothing can stop mother who lost her child. Dadan may not be their biological mother but she is mother after all no doubt

When luffy screamed “I can’t” at Jinbei and his pupils go from full black to crazy circles it gives me chills. It’s just a reminder of how animalistic luffy really and truly is. You feed him he likes you. He likes to sleep, eat, and party. Lives the most simplistic life he can. He doesn’t kill because he values everyone (including his enemies) dreams’ over his oww. He’s the nicest person to ever give out smoke. Because he will smoke you for smoke’s sake (he’s kinda like goku he loves a brawl) but when luffy gets serious he’s a rather scary and a “no holds barred” kinda character (picture him biting crocodile, Yes it was funny but still). So when he fully doesn’t give a fuck and is full force balls to the wall ready to tear shit up…yikes that’s scary. If he hadn’t just gone through what he went through in impel down and marine ford and still went crazy then Jinbei would’ve beeen one messed up fishman. Fairly decent fight would’ve occurred tho. That being said I don’t really see a scenario with luffy going crazy without ace dying. Unless one of the straw hats died but that circumstance is highly unlikely

I love how that whole village is like "Garp pls help, there's pirates out there" Meanwhile the whole village celebrates that Luffy is alive, who is one of the most renowned pirates at that moment. They truly do not see this black and white.

It hits because usually dadan calls him garp-san, but in this scene she just calls him by his name

When Shanks said “I can’t believe what Ace did” it made me think about how selfish Aces decision was to go back & fight when literally the only reason the war happened was to save him💀 Seriously that’s so fkd from him

People who trash Garp for letting Ace die need to understand that Garp is a worldwide pillar of hope and faith. He is the physical embodiment of loyalty and duty throughout the entirety of the One piece world. If he was to turn on the Marines during the war then the Marines along with majority of the world would fall into complete chaos. He was fucked either way 😔
