I think reprints are great, especially as more and more people get into TCG who just want to play. It should be open enough for players, while also being exciting for collectors and people who just want to open packs. I'll be interested what they do and how they handle the reprints! Regardless, I'm holding onto my two wave 1 OP01 boxes for years to come hahaha

I went and was in the front row of the presentation. The game director of the OP TCG said "we will reprint previous boosters." Then shortly after the Usopp voice actor went on stage
Forget boosters they need to reprint Starters and in bulk. It is impossible for new players to get into the game because there are too many required cards from those starters.
As somebody who got into the game only 2 months ago, I would love reprints so I can get a chance to open up older sets. But honestly I would prefer reprints of the old structure decks. I find it easier to justify paying high cost on a card that is randomly pulled from a booster over a $20 per copy card that is a guaranteed 4 of in a $12 structure.
I really do hope they print the starter decks too, some of them have got way too expensive as an entry into the game! If you ever get chance try to grab the purple one, and two of them :D

I think you are one of a few people who have very logical and rational opinion about this matter. When it comes to TCG majority of people always focus on players and forget about collectors. The rights of the players are more important than the collectors who are often labeled as "investors". I think both groups should have equal laws in any TCG. The worst part is, most people don't understand that they if they just want cards to build decks, they don't have to open boxes and gamble. They can buy singles in lowest rarity and they're ready to go. Of course there're few exceptions like Katakuri SEC or Borsalino SR which are expensive. But I believe Bandai could reprint certain cards in new sets or make new product like Fruit collection etc. with promo cards with the same abilities. That way they can "reprint" meta cards for players for cheap and leave the popularion of expensive Parallel cards for collectors. Many TCGs are doing that i.e. Pokemon. Reprinting whole boxes hits directly all the rare cards and if they decide to print to demand, it'll be a disaster for collectors. I believe the responsibility for the influx of new people in OP TCG is because of sealed shortages which created demand for something which is rare. If Bandai will print to demand and everything will be available all the time, OP will be on similar level to DBZ or Digimon. Also I'm afraid if that happens, even long term the boxes won't climb and may possibly even drop below MSRP.
Were on the same page fs, Bandai definitely have to think hard about making the right decision because if they dont and get greedy instead players and collectors will leave in droves. Great shout about the Super Rares that are needed I totally agree

Borsalino blockers are over $40 and you don't think OP-02 should get a legit reprint??? 🤨 I don't think anybody wants them to reprint prices "into the ground" but we desperately need more than just blister packs at this point. The demand for these cards are just way too high!
Yes, because as I spoke about in the latest market watch borsalinos are only expensive as they have a powerful ability - this can be changed by bandai to make another card have the same power or even more power for less cost for example - this would 'balance the meta' as we know they are keen to do. Also, compared to magic, yughio, pokemon and flesh and blood $40 for a playable card isnt expensive - to use decks in those games you're looking at way more money. Borsalino wont be strong forever and that one card in itself doesnt mean the entire set op02 needs a reprint. Why not just reprint borsalino then and put it in an EB02 booster box? Lots of ways to do it rather than just a blanket reprint, I do speak a lot about all this in the latest market watch! Thanks for the comment kamikaze! :)
Hes definitely referring to ptcgradio on his second channel wossy plays. I watch ptcgradio not trying to bash him but it is annoying when he says the most blatantly obvious stuff and then acts like hes a bastion of knowledge for all and says i told you so for something like this.
whole heartedly agree with your stance on the matter, by all means new players should have an opportunity to jump into the OPTCG without having to pay the high secondary market prices, however Bandai really should be careful when it comes to these reprints. Blisters and limited runs to temper prices for a couple weeks are great. Just dont devalue the entirety of the game bc everyone just loses at that point.

I EVEN stated that new players or ppl interested in the tcg should be given oppurtunities to jump in at msrp (or as close to it as possible). Here's the thing lil bro, Bandai are not directly selling and shipping the product to you, Card shops and big box retailers are (hence the secondary market's existence). Whether you like it or not without the market, TRADING card games would never make it past Alpha. Cool alt arts and mangas are very hard to pull. So people would like to know they are worth something. Now on the topic of base rares and SR's then yeah they are currently up there in price but you know what other TCG has pricey singles?... ALMOST EVERY SINGLE OTHER CARD GAME (except pokemon). So for people like yourself to act like $300-$500 is pricey for a meta, playable deck in any TCG is unreasonable clearly has never done their due diligence. Also it it's very bold of you to assume I have any stake in the game in terms of sealed. I'm a player first and foremost and the most I have are playsets of certain alt art character and leader cards that I like and run in my decks. I never bought a case to hold nor did I ever intend on flipping my decks, I have been a fan of One Piece all my life and I just also to happen to be into MtG. So for me the OPTCG was the perfect storm. I like what Bandai has going and I do think the current demands warrant reprints. However, I DONT want this game to coddle the vocal minority and print sets into the ground because if that does happen. Shops won't want to keep the game in stock bc the demand will no longer be there. It's basic supply and demands little man. But I hear you if you really dont like the prices then I got a great immediate solution. Play with proxy's

Oh no, it's actually because you just so happened to know this game was doing well and you're now projecting and virtue signaling that you aren't with those same Blue Bottom owners who are winning financially due to this games success. Mate I come from a YGO background and currently play MtG and now OPTCG, so suffice to say I am a player first and foremost. The most I have in this game are alt art leaders and character cards that I like to run in my decks. However just because I’m a player doesn’t mean I don't want my cards to have some amount of value though. Believe it or not manga, alt arts are hard to pull and thus should carry a price tag. Whether you like it or not without the secondary market TRADING card games wouldn't make it past Alpha because there'd simply be no interest or demand. Unless Bandai ships directly to you, LGS’s and Retailers will always exist and by association the secondary market. It's in the name of the game man and if you can't get with it maybe start looking else where because this clearly isn't your thing kid. For the record, the game is seeing enough demand to warrant reprints but if you actually read what I had to say you’d already know that.
I believe having a lot of reprints of old sets, (I entered one piece at set 4) is really good, I have this game as a hobby and as a new player, seeing katakuris at 80$ or so, is pretty harsh, and made my jaw drop for the lowest rarity being that much. Even any starters are expensive, and it turned my other tcg community away because of thise prices. Seeing them discouraged not able to join a fun and different tcg hurt quite a bit, but seeing they are going to reprint op-01 and might see borsalinos and yamato sec go down is making my wallet happy. I get to play certian decks with favorite cards without selling a arm or leg. Maybe it would be bad for collectors, or devalue the pull value, but atm pre orders or getting new product is so hard around any shop, some people are buying cases and left not enough room for other buyers to buy a box. I hope this lowers the market by a lot, that will allow everyone to join. Allow the people who wants a break from their work or life to enjoy sitting down opening packs for fun. (That's my take)

The way I see it the next 3 sets are already mapped out and presumably in production. There’s also so much shelf space as is. It feels like it would be at least a year out, mixed with some sprinkles here and there
The question is, will the reprint of Op-05 contain the Oda signature card? They wouldn't need to remove a card because the artwork is in the set as another card.
Thats a really interesting idea, I can see why they might but I think there would be a lot of push back from the community and accessibility so I doubt they would but still an interesting conversation to have fs going forward and what reprints might look like 💯
I cant really agree with this, they will def hold a premium, but in the end, its the same cards in there. its not like shadowless baseset and unlimited base set pokemon cards.
I don't mind a reprint of all the older sets tbh. The demand is so high that even a temporary drop is more like a buying opportunity for investors/collectors. I feel the sealed product will bounce pretty fast
I have been into Dragonball Super for a few years. DBS didn't get reprints the last couple years and when they did reprint years earlier, the boxes were marked 2nd edition and the cards said RE. DBS has fallen off but I'm holding sets like Realm of the Gods because it only got 1 printed once. Maybe Bandai does this with One piece as you mentioned.
That sounds like a smart decision kame, that could mean they do it again! Just need some more confirmation, I personally hope DBS gets some more love but in terms of IP! Cross over maybe? That would be wild lol
So will they not have any stamp/sign to show they are 2nd edition?! I got a couple of OP-02 booster packs and they seem the same as the first... If this is the case it's horrible, cos as a collector it's gonna be over printed and trash... Let alone it's very difficult to find decent cards.
How long do you think until we find out more? Hoping it doesn’t end up like Lorcana. I understand as a player, reprints are great, but the TCG will crumble without collectors and big money cards to pull. If the aim is to please players of the game so they can get cards for decks, reprint them as 2nd edition or something. I dunno. I already left the Lorcana realm for that reason. Product is everywhere now. Hoping I don’t have to sell my OP as I love the stuff I have.

Ok Bandai can’t just all of a sudden reprint every single box to demand. When Pokémon had it’s shortage it took them a whole year to bounce back. Also you would be surprised but common sense for people isn’t common sense. At local card shops and in comment sections I’ve been seeing people say that op 02 and op 01 aren’t getting reprinted. This game is only 1 year old of course they are reprinting the old sets. I just want the meta card to drop so I can build my decks
What's your opinion on the Gold stamped Oda Luffy card currently at $1600. Assuming more op 5 reprints are coming. I really want this card as a collectors item to have something with an Oda auto on it. TIA
There won't be much coming. Looking at the upcoming sets, they can't even keep the prices for those down. How the hell are they supposed to bring down the prices of the older sets?
I think your comment about 1st edition holding a premium is interesting but sadly I don't think it would. In Yu-gi-Oh! there's always 1st edition and then unlimited reprints and it doesn't make any difference generally. Cards are printed to oblivion and everything gets million other rarities which ultimately make them terrible long term. I don't think people would pay those prices. This TCG is still pretty weak when it comes to collectors interest. Especially now that reprints are coming.
This hobby has a strong fan base. Secondly reprints in smaller amounts are a good thing. Lastly, Romance Dawn will be fine but there is technically a first edition box and those are the ones with the blue bottoms. These will not fall in my opinion and they have a distinct feature that separates not only the box but also certain cards.
I just bought 3 boxes of 06 (I really only go for a basic master set) at a not so great price and I thought I’d get a head start on 07 but they’re already bloated too. How early do I have to be to buy 3~ boxes at msrp? Should I just pick up singles? CAN I just pick up playsets of singles for the same price? (Implying the 3 boxes are $200~)
Absolutely, I mainly buy boxes because I like the chase and I also build lots of decks for me and friends to play with... Two or three boxes max is all anyone really needs if they want to collect, if you're only playing and not fussed about collecting too much then maybe get one box and buy the singles you need yeah :)
If Bandai does second edition this game is dead. If they have learned anything from their companies history, one of the reasons DBS cardgame died was because of second edition. Normal reprints are the way to go because the demand is just too high. No box in the tcg world should be preorderd 8 months in advance, where your hard earned money is frozen for 8 months with the change of being cancelled or not getting your money back at all (scam store).
Yeah you have a point! A second edition after a few years seems a bit silly, I also dont like the 8 months pre-orders but dont have a choice atm. Supply should meet demand first wave!!
It will be even more infuriating if they just print a few, because now more than ever the market is full with speculators which were not here before (when the cards already sold super fast) and what's gonna happen is that the scalpers and speculators are gonna take most of the reprints and the players are gonna continue to struggle to get staples, which ultimately going to put a too high of a barrier entry for new players, and the older players are gonna start leave since they would not be able to keep up with the increasing prices
It depends on the sets, as I say in the video 05 and 04 need big reprints, 01, 02 and 03 dont they really dont and there are way better ways of making meta strong cards more available than blanket reprints that support the community like tournaments, promos and extra boosters but we need to see what bandai do
I don't think you need a complete reprint of sets. Most cards are all cheap. Which card you need to play is e.g. from OP-05 expensive? Not a single. Of course there are expensive cards from other sets. So why not release a set where all of these cards get a reprint in their normal artwork? This means that collectors are not deterred from buying expensive collector cards and players are also happy that expensive super rares are getting a reprint.
For what reason? They're already all over TCGplayer, ebay/Cardmarket for pennies. It blows my mind people don't understand that and just want sealed xD

I think the players would definitely not be scared away from massive reprints, it would cheapen all of the game pieces. They need to keep the exclusive items in participation/winner packs and p-bandai releases. Also, in reference to other card game printings, I think pokemon and MTG keep printing sets for like 2+ years
Most players also collect, thats what a TCG/CCG is all about... massive reprints of every set would be a massive brain dead decision from bandai, this issue requires precision and thought. OP01 doesnt require the same level of reprint as op05 for example, players love having spicy decks otherwise lets all go play poker or black jack they use game pieces

I love that you feel the same way about the reprints! I am in no way a big youtuber, I am more on the live streaming side. But I did make a video about my thoughts explaining reprints and man I got attacked. But if you're not into all three of the positions, collector, investor and player, you can't really see the need for the balance. So not their fault really I guess. Thanks for the video! Hearing that content creaters stack boxes and wont sell them, just tells me the state of the trading cards. Many many many Players i know of, Top Cut Players leaving the Trading Card game due to no product, soon its not a game no more. But at least the scalpers and collectors can flip their product with each other.
Stacking cases is excessive imo, most collectors have a few booster boxes and theres nothing wrong with that... make sure you dont tarnish all collectors with the same brush as there is a massive difference between large investor collector types and the average collector player - the latter participating in the community correctly
I've never seen op03 in any store, I'd like a reprint for all that shoit, also romance dawn is not old you cannot compare it to pokemon xy at all. I have xy evolutions and that's cheaper than a romance dawn pack in like 1/12th the time DUMB, REPRINT!

Pack for pack they are extremely similar uppon further investigation plus minus 5 bucks difference depending on the sellers, still its been like a year and a few months since its release while xy is now going at 8 years. IDK man
