One Piece TCG: Black Yellow Luffy ST13, Pre-EB01/OP07 List (Very Fun and Competitive Combo Deck) 

Using this deck, how can you counter someone that can reduce power then automatically put that character back to your deck, example RP Law?

@@dardags214 Be as aggressive as possible and stay at 9000 Leader Power, it doesn't mean you will always be able to win though against RP Law, especially right now in EB01 or OP06.5 because BY Luffy needs the new "Rocket Luffy" card coming out in OP07

So, this is my priority logic on the searchers in BY Luffy: 1st is the priority on variety setup: I want to see at least 1 of each of the 5c Brothers and the 2c Brothers. So for example, if I have all the 2c Brothers, but I only have a Luffy and an Ace at 5c in the hand/trash I will prioritize the Sabo. Remember that cards in the hand/trash will all be usable in the future, Gecko grabs back the 2c guys from trash and the Leader Effect grabs back the 5c guys from trash/hand. 2nd is the priority on raw utility: So if my search reveals cards that I don't have any of in the hand/trash or I have multiples of everything, I have the priority set like this 5c Sabo > 2c Sabo (up to 2) > 5c Ace > 2c Ace (up to 2) > 5c Luffy > 2c Luffy (up to 2). Sabo is the most important card in the deck in my personal opinion, because it allows you to cycle to everything else while also protecting you. My third point is just more of a general statement and summary: I am typically trying to fill up my hand and trash with 1 of each of the 2c and 5c Brothers as quickly as I can (setup). If I'm stuck with the decision, I use a priority system where Sabo is the most important card of the 3 brothers and then Ace/Luffy are more or less equal in utility, so I have to choose those based off the matchup/opponent. If my opponent isn't swinging at all I'm going Luffy, but if they seem a little aggressive I'll take Ace to match aggression. Hopefully that helped. If you have any other questions, ask away :]

Forgot to talk about what to counter out with: I would say that typically it is best to counter out with the 5c guys because they are the easiest to bring back from the trash with the Leader Effect. However, the smaller guys REQUIRE Gecko Moria to get back from the trash, so I would save those in hand if at all possible. Also when doing a 2 card cycle with Sabo, I'm almost always going to toss out my Aces because they have no counter power.

They do not unfortunately. This specific question was answered in the FAQ because of how confusing it was.

According to the rules when you take life the card is first placed into hand. Then if there is a trigger you may activate it. Which is not really how people play since we don't want to mix cards in hand with a trigger but that's the official rule.

I'm only running Khalifa for the cycle, it will be replaced by Flampe as soon as we can get a hold of it (from EB01). If you want to run Satori in her place you can though.

Against Blue Decks you might want to counter early and play 5 cost cards from hand. But Blue is a hard counter to the deck with Pudding and Bottom decking Effects. It's rough.

I'm not sure how favorable it is percentage wise, but from my playtesting Katakuri wants to get aggressive, and BY Luffy really likes you taking his Life for him early on. Then eventually it gets to the point where the Katakuri has gotten a bunch of 5k and 6k bodies on the board trying to swing in to a 9k Leader with Sabo's protecting it. The deck also does a pretty good job of playing around 10 Lin, because all the Life is gone by the time 10 Lin drops cutting half of her On Play Effect in half.

You can only trash 1 card from your hand with the Leaders Effect to activate the Effect. However, you can add 5 cost characters from your Life or Hand to the top of your Life face up.

Ya man, this Leader is brutal. It's a very strong combo deck, but I think it runs into problems against decks that are running Green and/or Blue. Things that can lock you down or bottom deck your characters feels really bad to play against. We will have to see how things pan out for us over in the West

@Vvulfrik agreed I think to many people are looking at the japanese lists and finishes. I can definitely see sabo sweeping some locals at least

@@hootenknives153 100% especially if your Locals doesn't see it coming and doesn't expect it. Also with it being a blitzy/rush deck if you have a lot of control decks at your locals you can probably do really well.

@Vvulfrik I've also found it to be really good into the BY luffy leader which I think I'll see alot of. Just have to save a rush luffy and a shiria for the right time
