I was at Bandai Fest, the speaker unfortunately did not make a big deal of this announcement. It was not even a slide presented. It was purely a spoken thing. I’m not hopeful that the reprints will be game changing. Definitely still a fingers crossed situation
What they could do going forward is strategically reprint an older set around or in between new sets like EB01 when it comes out and and reprint op02 to help boost the impel down themes and op05 before op07 for the revolutionary army support etc.
Scalpers out here getting salty, I’ve seen your comments they’ve been really rude and people forget you’re an actual person too with feelings like them. Just making some RU-vid videos. Cmon guys let’s not try to harass a fellow one piece lover.
Believe it when I see it. Seems like they can't even print enough current sets, how the hell do they want to be able to reprint older sets now too. Here's hoping but I don't see it
It's math. You print more than Demand you fail. The reason Lorcana is coming back is tournaments not the reprints. Sis you even watch the whole video?@@MaliEndz
A 15 minute video off a single half-sentence spoken at card fest… okay. I was there, the guy said “we are going to reprint past boosters” as a total afterthought not even a big announcement. People shouldn’t get their hopes up.
I guess reprints are okay i really need set 3. But my problem is the fact that pre-orders right now for the next coming sets booster boxes are over 160 dollar's.
@arestifai I know man it's such a shame that the only store I shopped at online is hiking prices every week and I'm wanting to pre order op07 and it's nearly at 200 dollars.
@@imtrippedoutUTA deck is going for like $30 now at a shop I normally buy from and the 3D2Y deck sold out and now they put it for $24.99 we don’t even know what’s in it yet… this game is a scary investment
The problem is and as you stated, is a physical limitation. There are 13 starters, 7 booster sets and all the extra stuff and thet still want to start printing older sets. Unless they've expanded to another printing factory, it highly unlikely they will be able to meet a large demand. A good balance of players and collectors can keep the game going
I believe for reprints yugioh did it right. They reprinted cards in different sets and assigned them all different set numbers. This allowed for the older prints to hold their value while allowing access to cheap good cards for players.
Hey man, like your videos. But I kind of call bs on this theory, you saying they will reprint because people will not buy op-06 if they are not able to get op-05. Or this is not the TCG business model. I am new to TCG’s in general. But what I see is they have these hype cards to attract not only players but also collectors. As a collector I now if something is printed in excess where it is like a common thing, I would lose interest in it. I agree meta cards that win games like 8 cost katakuri or Borsalino, should be reprinted, there is not much collectability but more playability, so they should be reprinted in starter decks maybe. However, most cards especially from hyped set of op-05 (you mention in your example) people can buy regular version of cards really cheap. Which would cost a lot less than buying a booster box. So from business perspective I don’t think Bandai is going to reprint to oblivion so collectors loose interest and they loose big portion of their customers.
We have no idea of when and how many of the reprint will be. Meanwhile Bandai cant even print enough of OP06 i doubt the reprint will be in near future, possibly late 2024 & early 2025.
It’s so the cry babies can get their nami alt arts (yes for what you think) and a chance for shanks/ace mangas. Honestly it’s sad how soft this community is. You can’t even argue it’s for the actual play cards anymore since they are power scaling the shit out of this game each set. It’s pathetic how entitled the community is. I don’t even play in person anymore so sick of BO smellling MT. Dew trolls.
@@MMK86 like what’s the point of crying over 01? These cards aren’t even going to be played in 07/08? If “players” actually cared about playing they would want more focus on meta defining sets not reprints of Namis boobies.
@Senseslol For those guys, yeah, I can't. I really want the reprints of Borsalino, Queen blockers, Katakuri, and the yellow staples from the Big Mom starter decks, green law blockers, 8 cost kids, etc.
I'm not as experienced as you, but if I would be Bandai I would also take collectors into account and know that they make up a large market. The very expensive cards are usually not necessarily playable cards, so I don't think collectors need to worry. Pokemon would be nothing without its collectors.
Thanks Wossy, your expert input is always much appreciated 👌. I only hope to have some money set aside to not miss the next batch of reprints, as I missed OP05 😭.
Wossy although reprints are good I think they should stamp the cards 2nd edition or something along those lines because destroying the collectibilty of this game will discourage people from playing it. Literally every onepiece player ik from my locals rips their boxes hoping to "recoup value" so they can put together a trade wether with the store or another player for cards they want. Early supporters of a new tcg should be rewarded and not punished, these cards have always been expensive and hard to get.
Also: with so many sets already coming out and so many people that have come in because of the collectability side of it if printing more of the collectable stuff to where "rare is not rare" anymore because everyone has it it makes stuff that people that came to collect because they are huge One Piece fans more than they are players the cards would become worthless to them and they are out of the TCG for the future sets. These games need players, collectors and investors to stay big. Before the hype I could not find a single person to play the game with anywhere. Now I can! And a lot of those people have collections now that they are proud of and show off that are worth something. And then fans of the Anime that don't play but are happy to have the cards. Take that value away and I can see them bailing and this dieing like other TCG's that are out there but not "big" anymore.
They will most likely mark the reprints as such, like in the Dragonball Super Card game. Displays were labeled as 2 Edition and individual cards were marked with "Re". Good for collectors/investors and players.
I totally agree..... However if you print too much and you raise the price people won't buy so cash flow won't be coming back in I feel like I see a lot of TCG games on the shelves that are not getting bought because of the prices
It also doesn’t help when shops hoard stock to drive prices up. Then sell them for higher margins. Once reprints were announced shops starting putting up there stock.
Youre completly right, reprints were never really doubted. Just would add one fact. Even if Bandai doesnt care about secondary market, they still profit when the tcg gets a lot of attention. There need to be a equal weight of course but if products are sawn after because they are relatively short this will create more future buyers aswell. So even if production capacity and cash flow is a thing. I would highly doubt that bandai want to kill secondary market completly, even if they were able to. Due to the effects i just mentioned. This means, reprints, yes of course but keeping the market interisting for the biggest audience possible is the thing (i think) they will consider aswell
You keep saying BD doesn’t care about the price of cards but just how many people are buying boxes from them, but what you are not considering is if the cards are worthless then nobody would buy boxes obviously, so yes i think they very much care about the price of singles
The argument falls flat when, instead of using the break in production window to properly add more product into the market, instead a mediocre Extra booster set is created for archetypes that are no more meta competitive than before.
Its all well and good having reprints... however when they reprinted DBS sets they marked them as "reprints". Which for players who need the cards should be fantastic, but for collectors they wont want "marked cards". If they reprint original sets to appease the the loud people without marking them as reprints, i know a lot of people who would be angry at this not happy. It punishes Early adopters who helped this game grow into what it is now. I also know a lot of people who will quit the game if they don't strike a balance between appeasing newer players and upsetting existing collectors/players. I just hope that they mark the cards.
I'd love to be able to buy older boosters for msrp, but despite that, I'd rather they focus on increasing production of new sets to better meet demand before tackling reprints. It's absurd that pre-orders for new sets still months from release are going for $200 a box. Reprints won't change that. And people with their bots and monitor groups will still sweep in and buy up any reprints before most regular folks can even have an honest chance at picking some up (unless you have a great lgs in your area). Hearing the word "reprints" is nice, but I'm not getting my hopes up in regards to actually finding some.
@@xfuture_xx2998 such a paranoid comment. You have zero idea what I have or have not. Baseless claims. Reprints lead to games dying…look at Locerna and DBZ. Try to escape one dimensional thinking.
It’s probably more time on the printing press than cash flow. I’m not sure where they print but they have to coordinate their time on the printers. It might be one printer and they have to schedule this with their other sets. I could be wrong.
Thats for sure a thing. I work in the Print-Business and OP-Cards are a really High-Quality product. Think also it's not easy to find many partners for these kind of product. And in case of bandai you have one, all machines are very expensive, and everything takes a lot of place. Also the paper after and before the cards are done
At the current time booster boxes are hard to come by. This = demand. Until the reprint happens and we don't know exactly when - there will by hype. If they overprint too much it will kill the hype and the hype actually generates excitement and that excitement gets more people involved in the game. If Bandai kills the hype by printing then they risk killing the game and remember that this game is fairly new. What Bandai should do (in my opinion) is reprint booster boxes but for those who generally care about the game (those who have opened booster packs and not scalped) should be somehow compensated. You can compensate users who are generally interested in the games growth by modifying the reprints in some way which boosts the previous generations value and by doing so you will have solved the supply and demand issue while also generating more players.
Do you think that they will actually reprint exact sets? Or maybe redo the same cards in upcoming sets? If Bandai does reprint OP-01 to 03 it will definitely remove some of the demand to buy a new set. People will sit on their hands because there is no urgency to buy before it’s sold out. Selling out is good for Bandais demand. Lorcana? Vs One piece? Same market? I don’t think so…maaaaybe
It’s good they are doing this. Reprint to oblivion… I want to be able to buy a pack at any given time. One Piece got the best looking TCG cards. Bandai doing a good job
@@matty2076I literally have one shop with English booster boxes that I know so far or been able to locate them at local they will have some on release. Don't know how many boxes they'll have but the price will be fair at that moment. I've been looking for other shops in the area but haven't found any for sure yet
@@Sugafr33 me too bro shits hard to find, just gotta go every week or so and ask them if anything might come in, and when it does buy enough so you won't dip back in.

Bandai is notorious for doing 2-3 waves max and then just dropping a product its been this way for years it is extremely surprising they are doing reprints wish they did this for dbs realm of the gods this is phenomenal news pump out more product nobody wants to pay 300 a box 15 a pack for the newest set op05
Love your videos and your insite! I do worry that reprinting, the first three sets at least, is not a great idea. THis is still a baby game and I think that even if we hate the investors that took up all of the stock and inflated prices, they had a huge part in bringing in some of the crowd and that insured that the game would be a success for sure. Reprinting these would kind of make investors angry most likely and make them second think re-investing in future sets. I think that keeping it the way it is now but printing more starting now for op-05 and future sets is a very good idea now that there is a player base built. But printing more of the cards that us players here in the first collected would suck really. It is a reward for "being here first" . The game that is here to be played is here now and will be and print more now but not from then.
What i dobt ubderstand is why its taken them this long to reprint a lot of this stuff... surely they have people at the company knowing how in demand the previous sets are.
Agree but its been nearly 2 month's and no reprints. Thing is. OP05 sold out in like 3 days and store basically are holding stock so tournament can be held normally. EXCEPT Bandai's own stores. They have only just started to sell out of all stock. So they need to obviously allocate more stock to LGS but then there own stores will take a hit. But LGS are selling out nearly 2 months before there own stores. So they need to sort there communication out with distribution. Or they are printing a set anmount each set and sticking it out til the next set. Which isnt a good plan. Also of you look at the secondary market the number of OP05 cards out there compared to past sets is crazy more. So they probably never expected this kind of hype. BUT we did cause ONE PIECE
No there isn’t really, there isn’t any differences between the cards unless there was corrections made to the wording on the cards, romance dawn is the only one this far that you can tell a difference
Reprints is the obvious thing to do but without a time, its a load of BS. Might as well say reprints coming in 2025. They are already cutting down op-07 print runs.
They won’t. Also they power scale the shit out of the game per new set…meaning old sets have almost 0 impact on play….grow up. You just want to pull an alt art nami lmaoz
Regardless of reprints the box that will continue to hold value and rise in time are the pre errata blue bottom boxes, those would easily be the safest boxes to get moving forward. It checks all the boxes for investors, I honestly feel it will actually spike the blue bottoms because of reprints.
Bandai already have 5 tcgs including Op. now they’re releasing more when they can’t even print enough for their current tcgs. Monkeys I keep telling you
OP-03 and Op-05 are getting reprinted for blisters. But yeah They don't care about investor but they do care about the overall popularity of the game. So they won't print like pokemon
LMFAO, all these keyboard financiers, accountants, market analysts, and entrepreneurs coming out of the wood works huh? As a graduate of a marketing management degree, with work experience in big corporations and ad agencies, I agree with your forecast, regardless of whats been said by Bandai and in what manner. Bandai isnt making money off the second hand market lmfao, they sell sealed product, and consumers self supply the second-hand market. Just like game studios dont make money off second hand market, why do these keyboard warriors think the studios want to shift to an all digital landscape? Companies have overhead charges and bottom lines to think of when putting out print orders. All the best marketers in the world can only speculate supply and demand, attempting to predict a product success, to a certain degree. I mean fuck, look at social media content and try to concretely plot the next year of viral trends and campaigns, the click throughs, and potential ad revenue generated. If we had that shit figured out i dont think we'd hear about youtube or twitch creators complaining about ad revenue. There's a science and logic to business, thats agnostic to its industry, and all companies want to make money.
It was very likely and well obvious to me as someone with a tcg business that they would reprint sets eventually, all those rumers and silly theories I bet came from the same people who jumped on lorcanna paying £200+ for a booster box th8nking it would pay for their retirement even though the developers stated very clearly they would be printing to demand 😅😅😂
I just snagged 12 pillars and 12 kingdoms and pulled the law special , wanted special kaido, and the beautiful leader alt special ace. Five below had them all.
Dude, you put so much effort into making sure everyone knows what you thought or said was true or hinted at and defending or over explaining the stuff you got wrong. Annoying as heck. Just talk cards and stop thumbing your nose and polishing your apple please!
I disagree with this a little bit. Yes Bandai doesn’t see money from the secondary market, but they do very much care. The secondary market dictates demand especially with a scarcity driven item like a collectible card game (without scarcity it’s just a worthless game piece). Yes the game can be fun (ie table top board games), but without collectibility it’s hard to increase your player base without solely relying on word of mouth of how fun the game is (let alone the eventual justification of raising msrp). Also if Bandai didn’t care about the secondary market… they would just print everything into the ground because why not? …because it’s a great way to lose half of your customers who enjoy that secondary market. Card investing is a hobby for people just like playing the actual game and they are an important customer as well. Collectors buy cases of good product, thus encouraging Bandai to continue to make new and innovative product. Some also buy multiple SKUs to make a sealed display or in hopes they will increase in value as well (ie Pokemon starter decks). Also Bandai is already reprinting old sets - you can go to their store in Texas and get older sets but you’re not allowed to leave the store with the booster box still sealed... only the packs stay sealed. Which to me is a perfect solution… it appeases both sealed collectors and the player base.
If by investors you mean 70% of Bandias customers. Just because you don’t have two nickels to rub together doesn’t mean everyone who CAN afford the cards are investors.
@@Senseslol I belive he has explained it very well: Bandai only sells to Sellers, and sellers sell to public as sealed product (or should). Most of the public is not investors/whales, but casuals (just like in any business). Most investors buy singles from the 3rd market which does not affect bandai in any way. Please listen to the video and think about what it's saying before slandering random comments.
reprints okay, but how can bandai confirm reprints even if they cant print a correct amount of the current product? thats so stupid + destroying the collector market is even more stupid, there are enough opportunity for players to buy products but players are to stupid to buy them just in time
100% but the entitled man children in this community cried till they got what they want. If a community can dictate what the company does or doesn’t do no one will care about collecting this anymore.
honestly at this point if bandai doesn't do a massive reprint of every set and not just pick what they would make more money off, that's how they can show they care about there community and following. not to mention set 1 and 2 there was deff not enough product for everyone, let alone talk about set 5
with all these stupid price inflations, i dont think i can support this game past the initial release dates from my lgs if im even lucky enough to get one. i might just switch to another tcg soon
