Absolutely loving this series, as a newer player, I highly appreciate it. Def linking to to friends and family that want to get into the game. The steps to start are as good as it gets. It’s funny because I did it almost the opposite. Saw a tiktoker get into OPTCG and as a OP lover, I saw how cool the cards were so I googled a local card shop so I could go pick up a booster pack. Fast forward 24h, ended up buying a starter deck (yellow) sitting at the local card shop for a couple of hours learning the basics and joined a local tournament that same night. Everyone was very welcoming and helpful and guided me. They showed me in the right direction, told me about the Bandai app, download the SIM, told me about the OP Top decks website and TCGplayer for singles. Loving the OP community, hope this game keeps going strong and keeps growing! Doing my best IRL to get ppl into it and bring them to the card shops to spread the word.

Content is top tier, listening now. Plus that colouration on the Kuzan Garp fight really be hitting. Real eye catching.

Great series so far, keep up with the great content! Something I’d like to add to experience having no substitute besides playing yourself is watching streams and videos, but not simply watching. Look up a stream or a video of Someone better or more proficient with the deck you want to play and pause before every action to think about what you’d do and how you’d sequence the turn. Afterwards continue watching until the actions taken deviate from your own thinking. Stop right there, think about why it differs, what’s the purpose of the plays being made by the person in the video was and try to learn that way. It’s a pretty tedious approach, but especially in the beginning it’s the better to learn like that to acquire the experience of someone else for yourself

I find despite being a beginner that I am advancing at a pretty good pace. It helps that im mostly playing with a friend thats starting out alongside me. As it stands its hard to break out of beginner off of a trial deck but im workin at it. I am excited to get my first proper deck built, as I am hoping that its the last step I need to break into intermediate

So far so good with these gears. Got to the point during op03 where i can consistently x-1 in locals. I win out on occasion, but there's a couple players who are a mountain's height above me in skill. They already got their invites to nats. Working on figuring out how i can change my mentality to beat my personal yonkos. Also got to 73 at a major event once... hoping to improve there. Been on a rough patch with the big tournaments lately. Looking forward to gear 6 and 7.i float around somewhere in that area. Curious to see where i land and how i can refine my play.

I wish this was dropped a few days ago lol I recently went 2 my first tournament ( I went 2 prerelease so I knew about Bandai tcg website ) my friend told me they have weekly tournaments and thought all I have to do is show 2 . I was there waiting and never signed up on the app 😅 so I couldn’t play due 2 missing registering . Once I found out about the app I was like wow this is much easier then the website

Sort of, I let Discord/Instagram spoil it for me. I don't actually read the Manga or Watch the anime though, no.

I wanted to ask him this too actually! Especially after seeing the last 2 thumbnails, this video's thumbnail in particular coming from a fairly recent event in the manga. In fact, I didn't really think about it but I suppose it could almost be considered a spoiler for anybody who's anime-only. Albeit, a very minor spoiler. For some reason I had been assuming for the longest that he didn't watch or read this story and knew nothing outside of the game itself, but I can't remember why I thought that now... But with all the talk about gears and haki, he must be at least fairly well-versed with the story I imagine.

@@kamikaze.33 I mean it's a pretty accurate statements, I know very little about One Piece Manga/Anime outside of spoilers from Instagram and what little I looked up on fandoms lol. I made it to episode 10 and turned it off. This thumbnail I got by looking up "Clash" scenes that I could use paint and transform into thumbnails, I have no idea what is going on in this outside of the fact that it looks like Garp and Kuzan (I do have some idea though like I said from the spoilers).

I agree with this mostly but you have to take into account that some decks just carry people, where it’s not much skill involved vs someone playing a deck that isn’t topping most of the time, it happens but rarely and you know that they won because of skill, not partly because of a leader effect or how busted certain cards are that just mix well

I disagree with this mindset. A deck can be strong but ultimately the player has to know when and how to play their cards/pilot their deck. That knowledge only comes with experience and repetition. Every player can choose to play the same decks and utilize the same tactics. It boils down to knowing when to take advantage and use your cards to put you in a position that is favorable to you.
