Lovely... Today happens to be a TNS day.. first a whatsapp message from him with his very early TV (black & white) recordings of Sri Varalakshmi and Kamalamba Bhajare!.. That too on a Guruvaaram :) what a blessing
Awesome. Matches Hindustani classical music where detailed elaboration of a raga is the norm. May be including two or three kritis in different layas will make a Carnatic concert more enjoyable.
I only think about what would be running in the minds of Shri Vellore Ramabadran who was part of the Classic Kutcheri of Madurai Mani Iyer with TN Krishnan on Violin in the 1960s in which Kurcheri MMI sang Maa janaki with an elaborate raga aalapanai of Kambhoji in less than an hour. That was a crisp Kambhoji. That Kutcheri of MMI went almost for 4 hours and he sung major ragars like Kalyani, Bhairavi, Sankarabaranam apart from Kambhoji. In that Kutcheri, Vellore Ramabadran was in his elements as also TN Krishnan. Madurai Mani Iyer enjoying the pakka vaadhyam made that Kutcheri looked like who is doing the main performance. MMI was a great soul without any pretentions. If someone gives a time to fill up, great artists would not accept any such condition. But, the raga Kambhoji is self insulated that no one can spoil it even if they try for hours. Every swara of Kambhoji is sweet. That is why the rasikas identify the raga very early. At 25.10 TN Seshagopalan came to his elements and gave a concentrated juice of this raga within 100 seconds. That tells all. I am waiting to see vellore Ramabadran perform
@@SrinivasanCA yes, you are correct. The person on the tambura is S Kasturi Rangan, disciple of TNS. My earlier comment was a guess about the young boy to the right of TNS.
