YES. And because ABC started their cartoons earlier than everyone else on basic cable (kids WB, Fox Kids), this intro was literally the intro to the whole dang saturday morning lineup!!
Why do you feel that is, though? I just am curious why it makes you feel that way. I have my reasons but I always wonder why everyone else feels that way too.
@@MegamanXfan21xx Yeah the 2020s have been pretty garbage so far lol. I'd give anything to go back to those late 90s and early to mid 2000s Saturday mornings without a care in the world!
I almost forgot about Science Court! I remember as a kid finding it interesting just because of its unique animation style. Really made me think about how something might look if you drew characters one frame at a time but weren't overly careful about each frame looking the same. :P
I sang this theme song with my chest okay 😂. I swear I turned it into a whole church moment when they started singing “5 Hours of summer once a week!” 😂🤣
I'm 35 years old and I am walking down memory lane with this. Back when Saturday Mornings had meaning. Sugar-loaded Cereal, Sitting in front of the TV watching Pepper Ann, Recess, Doug, Darkwing Duck then switching over to Kids WB of Road Rovers, Waynehead, Animaniacs and Freakazoid for their lineup before getting dressed and going outside for weekend fun...The 90's was a Magical Era.
I’m 29, and this brings back a lot of memories for me too. The 90’s and 00’s were the best times for cartoons and TV. Now all of that has gone to the dumps.
The best part about Saturday mornings was when your favorite show went to commercials, you could change the channel to catch up with another or watch some new show you've never seen. I always couldn't decide if I wanted to watch Fox Kids, Kids WB, ABC Kids, One Saturday Morning, PBS Kids, etc. The late 90s-2000s was like a battle for channel stations in attracting children viewers.
Oh I did my homework. I built a Saturday Morning cartoon schedule. I knew what was going to be on, what channel it was going to be on and when it was going on.
Bad-Jet! i don't get why the networks can't have retro 90s and 80s channels like cartoons from the 80s and 90s and sitcoms from the 80s and 90s. tv is all reality and garbage it sucks. why can't i get a network for me? netflix amazon and hulu don't have everything it sucks.
not the same goes for both i want it in decent quality not youtube quality by the way they keep showing the same show on the 90s are all that there's no real rotation it sucks i'm sick of rocket power, catdog, hey arnold, and rugrats
Cartoons disappearing from Saturday mornings was an unspeakable travesty. I was a teenager and not quite as into cartoons at the time, but it was still a horrible shock. Idk about everywhere, but here they replaced it with golf of all things for a while.
Gosh I miss this those days. I miss the 90's. No bills, no responsibilities. just Saturday morning with cartoons and cereal for me and my little brother💖💖💖💖💖
something 90s kids will remember, we didnt have smart phones, lucky to have a computer or even internet, this show ate up our morning, then friends in the afternoon. we didnt have ipods, ipads, or laptops, we had something called out doors. those days are sadly over, kids now at 6 years old dont even know half of what we grew up with. they dont know what a floppy disk is, they dont know what dial up is, they dont know how cool you were if you had a n64, they have to have iphones, ipads, laptops, anything expensive that keeps them inside all day instead of being outside and active. one reason why there are more and more kids overweight, because of all of the new tech out there. 90s rock hands down. proud be be a 90s kid! brings back so many memories!.
I agree with many things you said being a 90s child myself, but we were incredibly privileged as well. For example, we had tv and video games(arguably the best ones). I think technology is great but at the same time it can be bad. For example although I have a Facebook I feel it is one of the worst things to happen to society in a long time. Also please don't remind me of dial up that shit was terrible lol. I can remember the exact sound it made too.
Nathan Huff ***** haha yes that is true, we did have tv and video games but at the same time more kids were outside at the same time, and i couldnt agree more about the whole facebook thing, along with twitter, instagram, snapchat, and even good old youtube. dial up oh ya, we were in the middle of no where and our dial up wasnt really to bad back when web pages werent so big and loaded with spam and ads, then we got one of the verizon 3G modems and boy that changed everything. Verizon was the only provider with 3G service in my area. and it was fast as could be. so i agree i dont miss dial up at all nor the annoying sound at least we didnt use aol, we had earthlink. sucks that the days of unlimited internet from the wireless companies though is about gone, still with verizon for basic and now smartphones as well.
Yes I agree with all of you. I honestly think we had the perfect blend of technology and old fashioned fun. I may just be another biased 90s kid, but I truly believe our childhood was very magical.
Yes i AGREE ON SO MANY LEVELS. We did utilize technology but it didn't eat up our time like it does now. It makes me sad..im so sick of all these social media sites. If only I could just cut them all out but then I won't be "connected" with my friends.
I completely feel u! It all came rushing back to me from the intro and then the *_♫Five hours of sum-mer once a wee-eek♫_* ....it all gave me goosebumps
Funny how during the week, we as kids would have to almost be dragged out of bed to go to school at 8 or 9 AM; yet on Saturdays, we'd voluntarily wake up even earlier to watch all THIS (I have to get up at 5 AM during the week to go to work but on weekends, that alarm is OFF, lol).
Anthony Rupert To this day I still don't understand why I was out of bed fully awake with a bowl of my favorite cereal early Saturday morning. On Monday through Friday you would have to drag me out of bed kicking and screaming I don't wanna go to school!
I wish I could've stayed at this age forever. I was 11 in 1998 and Saturday was swim and/or piano lessons, dicking around with friends playing SOMEthing on N64 and pizza and movies on my parent's dime. Music was better then than now and everyone just seemed happier. Now I'm 26 and watch SpongeBob when I'm hungover lol. Not the same but I'll take it
Man this takes me back. This is like, when you've just sat down with your bowl of cereal and maybe a couple toys to play with during the commercial breaks, and the weekend is just about to kick off in a major way!
Monday morning, wake up time, Get to work and stand in line What would make you feel real fine? One Saturday Morning! Coming up next is Tuesday's grind The week is young, but I'm out of my mind What would make you feel real fine? One Saturday Morning! Wednesday, Thursday, jammed in the middle Once again, make you pose in a riddle What's strung real loose, but plays like a fiddle? One Saturday Morning! Friday has an exit sign, But getting there still takes some time What would make you feel real fine? One Saturday Morning! Five hours of summer, once a week! One Saturday Morning! Yeah, five hours of summer's what we need! One Saturday Morning! Five hours of summer, once a week! One Saturday Morning! (Whoah-oh!) Five hours of summer... One Saturday Morning! Friday has an exit sign, But getting there still takes some time What would make you feel real fine? One Saturday Morning! Five hours of summer, once a week! One Saturday Morning! Yeah, five hours of summer's what we need! One Saturday Morning! Five hours of summer... (You only get one!) One Saturday Morning!
My aunt created this show, I was on it a bunch of times as a kid. Omg that room dude we filmed in a huge studio with all green screen walls. I’m in the intro throwing a ball pretty sure. My sisters were on it too. Very good memories.
It brings me soo much joy to read all these comments! I love that we're all gathered back here again remembering the best feeling in the world, waking up early to pour a huge bowl of cereal and sing all the theme songs to our favorite shows, 90's kids🙌🏽
Miss watching this every Saturday. I'm 29 now almost 30. I still wish this was playing. I grew up without cable, satellite and the internet. My family still doesn't have any of this in our house. The only way we get internet is on our cell phones.
Ah the nostalgia. Can’t believe I never looked this up before. This song pops into my head all the time… and I just realized. It’s Saturday morning right now. Not even on purpose 😂
Am I the only one who notices that the country started going massively downhill when we stopped getting our five hours of summer, once a week? :( This truly was illuminating television.
It only seems that way because you were too young to understand what was happening in the world. Every generation has a time when they feel like things started "going downhill", based on their age and their own values.
Man how time flies I remember getting up every Saturday morning with one of my favorite cereals just have a good old Time watching these cartoons Oh the memories
Me too! I use to look forward to waking up on Saturday mornings and watching the Disney channel. I also miss the old Nickelodeon shoes and Cartoon Cartoon Friday's on Cartoon Network. Oh the memories of being a 90s kid!
Anthony Lumpkin i makes me really sad to see that television isn't as good as it used to be and it's hard to find some of the old shows of the 90s. i miss the 90s
My childhood! :( It's a shame Saturday Morning Cartoons no longer exist for these newer generations. Cartoons aren't special anymore now that they are always available. .
Great times. Back then you had to get up right early to watch this program. I believe it was even ealier to watch cartoons during the week. Always remember watching Beast Wars ect. at like 7am during the week days.
Nathan Briggs I would wake up early and think nothing of it. I even had a cereal mirror for reversing text during one of their skits. This programming block was huge for kids. Especially when Doug and Hercules came to it.
One tear trickled down my cheek like Denzel Washington on "Glory" when I watched and heard this. It was much easier to be a loving human and be a kid. Purity and innocence was still holding on with two hands.
I woke up every Saturday morning in 1998-2002 especially when i was 3-4 years old to watch One Saturday Morning! Watching those cartoons were great ways to start the weekend! I would then play outside with my friends or do the programs i was in, or we would go driving, out to eat, do something recreational, etc. On Sundays my grandpa came over and brought bagels, and I would spend a day with him.

(Five hours of summer is a reference to the block running from 7AM-12PM.)
@@iHeartsNostalgiaPit when you think of kids and time, you tend to think of warm summer days when they were outside having a blast.......i hope this answers your question!
I didn't catch this enough as a kid 😢 But I did catch it enough that the melody and the "One Saturday Morning!" refrain have lived in my head all these years.
I was 17-18 years old in 1998, and I loved my One Saturday Morning. I'm glad I was born in just the right year so that Saturday morning cartoons lasted throughout my entire childhood and into my early college years.
Somewhere I have boxes of VHS tapes of EVERY One Saturday Morning. I need to find them and record them to digital versions. I also have several entire VHS tapes from the 80s and 90s filled with the entire Saturday mornings of those years on other channels. On those tapes I have cartoons nobody else remembers, like Little Clowns of Happytown.
I’m not old enough to remember this but just seeing this ad (& having sampled some of those old shows) is enough to tell me that this was an age of glory!!!!!!!!
Is it pathetic I cried as soon as the theme song began? I'm 25 and took my childhood for granted, but if there is a heaven, I hope I can relive my life, from beginnning to end, that would be my paradise. What I wouldn't give to be sitting in front of my giant box TV on a Saturday Morning in my pj's with a big ass bowl of cereal in my lap with the box next to me.
