Back in the film days, my mainstay photography was infrared landscape with Kodak HSIR 135 film (High Speed Infrared). There was a unique iridescent glow quality (very different from reflected light) to the image as the film was geared towards scientific, so no antihalation layer was used to prevent strong light from bouncing off the back of the emulsion. Not even a filter could mimic this appearance. This technique works far better than ANY video I have seen on blur, contrast and glow effects. Very cool thanks!!

Thanks Blake! Reminds me in some ways when we used vaseline on UV filters back in the film days to diffuse a scene or portrait. Also, I kept waiting, when's he choosing the megenta? Thankfully, you didn't disappoint. Thanks again for the great utilities.

Oh so true! I remember the Vasoline on the UV Filter :) I think every kid in Photography class in High School did that at least three times, lol!

This is the first time someone has said that the mid tones is the level of blur between light and dark, which actually explains quite a bit about this area for me, especially in concerns to the Clarity tool in LR/ACR.
@f64Academy
@f64Academy 2 года назад
For this technique that is ideal and how it works. It may not be the same for clarity in LR. This technique with the curve works specifically for that blur that is made. I would experiment more if you are curious.
@mad_cat
@mad_cat 2 года назад
@@f64Academy I've been trying to better understand how three tools in ACR/LR work, Texture, Clarity, and Dehaze. As I'm sure you know, but from what I understand, Clarity works much like contrast, but it primarily affects the midtones and leaves lights and darks alone. Increase of Clarity decreases the midtones/grays or compacts it allowing highlights and shadows to expand which gives the illusion of clarity. Decreasing Clarity expands the midtones into the highlights and shadows and can create a fog as a result. Understanding that the midtones is a blur between light and dark makes more sense in how Clarity works, as it increases or decreases the blur in photos. Of course this is not a one-for-one explanation, Clarity is more based on an algorithm. But it helps to understand it better.

Hi Blake Thanks for sharing your action . I have a question: i have Ps 2022 and Ps 2021 is still on my pc when i click on your action to get it install Ps 2021 opens up ! I don,t want it in Ps 2021... So if i delete Ps 2021 from my pc will your action automaticly choose Ps 2022 ? I never know when Ps put out a new version if i have to delete the old one. Most up-date of other program they automatically delete the old version .... Adobe Ps never does... so i was afraid of doing it by myself . Thank you (excuse my spelling mistake i am not and english speaking person )
@f64Academy
@f64Academy 2 года назад
yes it will, or you can open PS 2022 and just drag and drop the .atn file directly into PS and it will auto install into PS 2022. It is annoying that they dont auto delete the old one, but I understand why they dont. All brushes, gradients, and actions dont always port over from one version to the other so it gives us time to grab all our goodies and import them into the new version manually.
