My son whose 12 developed vitilago at age 11. It started as a small dot on his face and spread rapidly covering most of his cheek and nose within a few months. Thankfully most of the pigment has returned a year later but he knows it can spread again. Thanks for sharing your story. You are a beautiful young lady ☺

Michael Jackson had the same condition :3 she's gorgeous! So was he. He covered it up though once it got out of control and he made his skin is completely white with makeup. Like there was almost NO dark skin left.

Jesi, you are beautiful! I didn't know about vitiligo until a couple years ago. People may ask insensitive questions just because they don't know what they are seeing. I think it's great that Allure is sharing the info. Hopefully knowledge leads to acceptance. I admire your courage. I can tell you are a strong woman with a bright future ahead of you!

I have vitiligo but I never got bullied. thank God. If anything, others would defend me if anyone tried asking too many questions. I never wore makeup, because I always had high self esteem, even at such a young age. I knew some people were ignorant about my condition, so I never took any of their questions or looks to offence, I would inform them of my skin disorder, and answered their questions. People that get it at a young age are better sble to adapt, But when you get it when you are older, I notice people have a harder time adjusting to the looks, the questions, and become more self aware, and depression hits them harder.

I have vitiligo on my legs, back, and stomach. I used to feel a little regretful that I didn't have the stereotypical tanned legs of a girl that's considered pretty by social standards. Now I'm not ashamed of it and I don't ever even think about it. It's just skin! And you are the most gorgeous woman!! I'm so happy that you are confident now to show your pretty skin to people. Mine started when i was 2 years old and now i'm 17 it's not as big as hers (it's on my neck btw) but idk why my vitiligo is different than other people who is suffering from it i mean mine stayed on my neck like it's not spreading like drastically. Oh and mine is like a peach toned like when i scratch it turns reddish pinkish tone

Some people are so ignorant and evil. She is beautiful! What I hate for me having this autoimmune disease (have vitiligo for less than 2 years)…and more than one is the medical field being so judgemental…of all the people to be judging me, I didn’t think it would be people in the medical field.

I have vitiligo........FYI I love my mark....it makes me have a unique mark which no one rlly has.....and I also haven't been bullied for this.....my friends today said it made me look adorable and unique...I felt happy they said tht...I was never insecure if it...and will never be....one thing tht disappointed me is tht my parents....mainly ny dad and grandma....says my frineds will make fun of me if it gets on my face or esle it's not good to have tht as I'm a girl.......u don't know how much bad I felt when they say this. .....they always say this excuse.....u r young u will see wht ppl say abt u when u become big.....IK....I MIGHT GET DISCRIMJNTAED A BIT BUT IDC...I AM PERFECT HOW I AM...I FEEL LIKE BEING FORCED TO DO SONETHING I KINDA DONT WANNA DO.....well they r just too much. .......am I wrong?..

I actually have vitiligo aswell... people made fun of me when I was in middle school, I have some white patches on my chest,knees,and arms when I wored shorts for p.e and some boy past by and said "did someone spill milk on you..?" when I had them on my face,I just got weird looks from other people it made me feel like crap,and it increased my low self-esteem and depression... so I started to wear long sleeves,pants, scarfs anything that will cover them for I thought I was not beautiful because I had a genetic disease and people saw me as a weirdo but I realised that I don't need any to approve of me I shouldn't care what people think of me....

Michael Jackson had this disorder. He was afraid like her before battling to keep the condition at bay but since the vitiligo covered more than 70% of his entire body he went into treatment to give himself an even skin tone. People with this disorder are like you and I, but i am very intrigued and enjoy their beauty. It's just so gorgeous and diverse!
