one tele, one amp (jetta), mult speaker models (ox box), and a little reverb; lock in on a groove? 

A fried of mine recently went to Wooten Woods for a course/retreat. One of the things Victor Wooten preaches is groove over everything. With no groove the notes are devoid of context. At the end of the day we are probably still intellectually and otherwise cavemen and rhythm was probably the first element that led to music. My exercise today was to come up with complimentary parts. I was intentional about the parts, but more focused on pocket (work in progress) over the notes I chose to play. No effects allowed (except reverb, again via the Ox Box, because there has to be some reverb). I varied the sounds by changing the volume of my amp, using different speaker models and turning the knobs on my guitar. I think it is cool how the parts intertwine when they are all on the same pulse. I start to hear things that probably aren't really there.
