In an unprecedented situation, like many performing arts organizations around the world, we cancelled our upcoming performances two days before opening night due to Covid-19. Alejandro Cerrudo's One Thousand Pieces would've been a PNB premiere, but was only performed for a small gathering of dancers, staff and students. When PNB realized a closure was possible, we began working with our wonderful dancer (AGMA), musician (PNBOPO), stage (IATSE Local #15), and wardrobe (TWU) unions, as well as the choreographers, designers, and music rights holders for a special arrangement to film and share these works of art with our existing ticket-holders. This excerpt is from that filming.
We have little to no revenue because of the necessary steps we have taken to help ensure optimal public health. The ballet will lose over a million dollars in revenue before the end of March. If the public gathering ban continues through April, financial losses for that month will be over $1.5 million. Though PNB has always been run with fiscal prudence, we can’t sustain our operations for long without performances or classes. Your gift will sustain us as an organization and your support will mean so much at this vulnerable time. Please consider making a gift in support of PNB: bit.ly/PNBRelie...
