I love the cinematography of you roller blading while telling us your tips, integrated to your routine pretty awesome!! But like not in a bad way your talking speed didn’t match the speed and the pure fast paced talent of you rolling around you neighborhood haha! Cool video,I’m 13 and I started roller blading a month ago and I’ve pretty much been doing it everyday, I dream of being able to roll around as you did in this video. I’ll definitely continue doing it everyday and I’m working on tricks already 😂

I used to bring my kids to school on skates when they were younger. It makes you the coolest dad in town. And I also used to skate to work, but then I switched jobs and my current job can only be reached over horrendous cycle lanes with old, crumbly concrete. I can make a big detour to take cycle lanes that can be categorized as 'meh', but are skateable. I sometimes do this, but it's not really fun, just endless straight kilometers of second rate cycle lanes. Also, my previous job had a shower, which is a huge benefit in the summer months

@@pit9623 They’re certainly not too tight! My Next is a 42-43, while my Zoom is 41-42. The Zoom took a little bit of breaking in before it was really comfortable. My Spins are 42 as well. I probably could’ve fit in the 41 too, the size of my SL Freeride, but 42 leaves just enough room in the toe box for jumping and stair riding painlessly. Hi, I skate 4x80 no rocker, and 3x110 race, could you tell me what I would have skating with a 5 wheel rocker setup like you....????🤔
@TheRollingRaptor
@TheRollingRaptor Год назад
Five wheels are great for more stability, while you're still close to the ground. Thanks to the rocker, such a setup's very manoeuvrable. The combination of stability and manoeuvrability results in a very flowy feel, kind of like ice skating, but on asphalt. Does that answer your question?
@Skatafossy
@Skatafossy Год назад
@@TheRollingRaptor Yes, thank you, I thought it was like this, but they tell me the same about the 4x100 endless, you should try it to understand what I like best.
@TheRollingRaptor
@TheRollingRaptor Год назад
@@Skatafossy I've got the Endless 100 (and a couple of other 4x100 frames), but I like 5-wheel frames better. The reason's that a 5-wheel frame is lower and more swivelly. 100mm wheels are faster, but for stair riding and wizard skating, 5-wheel frames are more fun. I also like a rockered 4x90 better than 4x100. Those are more swivelly too.
@batonnikus
@batonnikus 6 месяцев назад
@@TheRollingRaptorI feel 4x90 rocketed frame is the holy grail for me. It's good at everything and when I put great 80mm wheels (I feel 80s are much structurally stronger than bigger wheels) on it they become fearless beasts that can take anything on. Liked 5x80 too but they are too long for my liking and my love for kizer element 90 + 80mm cosmic roche wheels prevents me from further experimentation xD I just want to ride instead of scrolling through stuff on the internet.

How long till your legs get use to blading? I’ve been strong at it now for almost a month and I’m still having to rest a day here and there… I did just turn 40 and a little out of shape. Hoping this phase ends soon so I can skate more. Thanks for the videos!
@TheRollingRaptor
@TheRollingRaptor Год назад
Difficult to say. For some people it takes several months, but I didn't feel any effects on my legs when I started skating almost four years ago. Maybe my enthusiasm overruled the exhaustion? 😉 I'll say: just keep rolling, without overdoing yourself, and your legs will soon _miss_ rollerblading when a day went by with no skating.

Video to get better at rollerblading ❌ Video to get better at recreational rollerblading ✅
@TheRollingRaptor
@TheRollingRaptor 6 месяцев назад
Am I allowed to find this comment a bit silly? Or plain unnecessary? 😇 The so-called "recreational" rollerblading is the basis for every other type of rollerblading, be it urban skating, aggressive rollerblading, wizard skating or even off-road skating. Since it's the most general kind of rollerblading, there's no need to specify it as "recreational". By no means can "rollerblading" be a synonym for, say, "aggressive rollerblading". Aggressive rollerblading is what it is: aggressive rollerblading. A very cool and important niche within the sport, but still: a niche. Even so, my fellow aggressive skaters fully agreed with the central message of this video: skate every day to get better. Get yourself to the skatepark and work those grinds, practise those spins. But first get the basics down. 🤘

For me it works the opposite way. I need a long break for my brain to process it and to see actual improvements from my last day. I mostly skate once a week and occasionally twice and honestly I like it more this way because then I actually enjoy it and get excited when the day I skate comes, rather than making it a daily habit which isn’t as exciting at all for me personally. I tried skating almost everyday for a week while on holidays and saw almost no improvements. I become considerably better in 2 days over a 2 week period than from skating 5 days in a row. Another trick I hound that helped me a lot is alcohol😁 Our biggest obstacle in progressing is fear and the mind that disbelieves in its own abilities. No matter how much you think you believe in yourself your mind still needs training to break through. What alcohol does is it puts mind in a different state where it lets go of its tight grip and fear also goes away making you do things that you normally wouldn’t have done straight away and would rather take a gradual approach considerably slowing down the process of learning or achieving certain goals. I don’t normally drink and occasional 2 bottles of beer is more than enough for me. If you overdo it you are gonna ruin it. Little goes a long way. I don’t recommend this to everyone. Some people are not resonating well with it becoming aggressive and less rational with a loss of balance. If you are one of those people then don’t do it! I can almost guarantee you will put yourself in danger and cause injury.
@TheRollingRaptor
@TheRollingRaptor 11 месяцев назад
One of my friends had the bad habit to drink alcohol to lessen his fear. The result? Five months ago he fell on his head when trying to bomb down a slope fakie. He went into a coma for several weeks and now is still recovering. He's been on skates a couple of times already, but he's right back at the beginner level. He's lost 20 years of experience in one single instant. I can understand you have the feeling alcohol helps, but I wouldn't recommend it to _anyone._ If you're afraid, then you're trying to do things that are beyond your skill level. The solution is not to dampen the fear through intoxication, but to slowly build up and let your brain get used to the new skill you're trying to acquire. That's precisely the point of skating every day: train your mind to believe in its abilities. 😊 Now, I don't want to talk down your method to skate only sparingly. If it works for you, it _works_ and that's great. 👍 But I'd be very, very careful with the alcohol. Drinking to progress, doesn't feel entirely right, does it? Of course, I've got it easy: I don't feel fear, not really. Sometimes I feel adrenaline pumping through my veins and I hate it. What I love most of all, is feeling confidence when trying something new: _knowing_ I can do it because I've built up towards it. If I'm going for a new trick and feel totally relaxed, then I know I'll make it. That's the danger of alcohol: it makes you _think_ you can do it, but if you haven't prepared yourself properly, that belief can turn into a big disappointment-or worse. When you don't feel confident stair riding when sober, alcohol won't help you. It'll give you the illusion you can do it, but a pretty nasty reality check is on the way. If you use alcohol, you _certainly_ should wear full protection. But I'd advise you to go easy on the beer and look for an another approach. Rather grab a bottle to _celebrate_ landing a new trick. 🤘
@RUS38
@RUS38 11 месяцев назад
@@TheRollingRaptor I don’t use alcohol as a tool every time. It is only occasional and as I stated there is no intoxication, and alcohol doesn’t cause me to go irrational therefore I would never attempt to do what your friend did, even under the influence if it goes way over the limit of my abilities. It only helps me to go beyond of fear, to progress, not to do the impossible at the level of skills I’m currently at or go into extremes. Your friend must be the type of people I described before, who shouldn’t be drinking because his focus is blunted and common sense is switched off. He overestimated his abilities, possibly even doing tricks that require a protection but having none again due to lack of common sense while under the influence.
@TheRollingRaptor
@TheRollingRaptor 11 месяцев назад
@@RUS38All true. ;-) And since a _lot_ of people can't define the fine line between just enough and way too much, I discourage everyone from using alcohol as a way to lessen their fear.
